Baffles Baffle Baffled Baffles

"Nah, we used a down-graded durasteel for this. Besides, once we get the curvature right it shouldn't make too much of a difference. Sort of like when you put your hand out the window of a moving speeder. When you hold your hand against the air it pushes back really hard, but when you angle your hand it just slices through it. Here, you can see where early on bits were cut off to found out the edges where the thrust gases wanted to expand, most of the damage later on was from those bits impinging and leaving little pits that caused drag and worsened it all. So! Proper grade of durasteel and rounded edges. Sound like that might do the trick?"

Alright then, she was looking at her while thinking about it and putting her information onto the datapad while letting it crunch some of the numbers before she moved forward. "Alright then let us work on it." She backed up little and was looking for a few things before she was going about. "Lets see what we can do and what we can fix." She was ready to get it and get them some nice things done before moving on or trying to.

"Alright," Domino agreed as the scientist got back to work. She was really hoping that it worked as planned this time. The concept had proven itself certainly, but Isis had been right on the durability issue. So once the changes were implemented and refined it'd hopefully be a zero maintenance system. Still, it had seemed like this had been dragging on for awhile now instead of the single day they'd been working on it together. It was probably just because she'd been planning and working on the baffles herself for awhile now from conceptualization, principal research, drawing up the designs and so forth. Really though, she suspected that upping to a higher durasteel grade would solve much of their problems and that rounding off the edges were the gas would be expanding would smooth it out even more, especially on larger engines with more force behind them.

Isis was workign on it and looking at Domino as it was doing the design before she was heading towards the machine to keep her attention on it. The more parts and pieces, the smoothing and coating... All of it going towards getting the ship to work properly with the system as she was speaking. "I think we got it, one more try should do it and hopefully then you shall have just what you want."

"Right, yay and all that." Domino dead-panned from where she was reading a comic atop a pile of boxes. "Let the techs know and they'll install and test it out." Waving her hand as if to dismiss her interest and went back to reading. She had mechanics and scientists that were way more qualified than her to install and test the baffle. Not letting them work on the final prototype would just be pure denial about her own aptitude and why she had hired them in the first place. That... and she may have peeked into the future a bit. Now that Isis had made a functioning prototype that didn't disintegrate under use, her people could easily adapt it to other engines. Finishing her page, she tossed the comic back into a corner to fall to the crates while she stood and jumped down. "Come on, lets get you cleaned up and paid. Then I'll show you where there's this cutesy little candy shop that all the local kids seem to like."
