OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The Bands of Blackest Shadows are a series of eight bands meant to be worn in the hair or beard. Thengil wears them in the braids of his mane. They were made by the alchemist Rasul during the era of the Sith Empire for his own personal collection. Rasul was wearing the bands when he fell in battle on Dromund Kaas. Fortunately, the Sith managed to recover his body and entombed him in secret, away from the eyes of the Jedi.
Now that the old worlds are being recovered by the Resurgent Empire, Thengil was able to find the tomb of Rasul along with a cache of amulets, which included the Eyes of Rasul and the Ring of Dwomutsutta.
The Bands of Blackest Shadows, Kintikjenkut in High Sith, have two functions. First, the bands give off a permanent aura of unease. The aura produces a feeling of "intense malaise" and an inability to concentrate on those who are within close proximity to the wearer. Second, the bands enable the wearer to activate a Waves of Darkness spell with a gesture and a word rather than a long ritual. The result is still draining, but saves time.
