Just say a Celestial named Tef-Godiva zapped your character into something else. It's what I always do.

Your welcome. :D

I feel that a Grandfather clause with a restriction on future 'Dragon' submissions would be fairer than to go to those writers whom have them now and essentially tell them. "You know all that work you did with your character. Well it was worthless. You have to change your species, which means you have to change your entire character to fit a new species, oh and you have to start back at square one with your rps."

I'm not sure what brought on this ban and I'm not sure how such a 'restriction' would work. Something like "Writing a two thousand word essay on why dragons are important to the galaxy" sounds immensely tedious and rather uninteresting. I wrote the character because I enjoy writing something I thought it was unique at the time (First Dragon and all). Now that it's no longer unique and everyone and their mother has a dragon, I'm bored of the concept.

If you want to ban dragons I'm fine with that. But now that we're on the subject of species banning (which was part of the reason I created this guy in the first place) please consider banning other things, like gigantic Zillo beasts that can smash buildings with one foot and those giants from Endor.

>Yammosk account has 42 posts, and no recent RP.

>Zillo beast has 50 posts and just started a training thread - although I'm more than willing to throw them on the list considering there was supposed to be one survivor and it's been dead a long, long time. They most certainly can't use the Force though.

Either way, there's the tiniest minority of 'active' characters who will be affected by this and as Tef said it can always be turned back around. But we're trying to cut back on the overpowered/inappropriately used species we see running around.

See: Mnngal-Mnggal (which is supposed to be a "completely unique" creature.)

You guys scream unfair at stuff but it'd be cool if it wasn't retroactive?

How would that even be remotely fair for me to say "Okay, everyone who made a Dragon up until now can keep their Dragon, but nobody else can have a Dragon."

It's almost like you only yell "unfair" when it suits you.
Kinda like how we used to be able to exchange Capital Weapons for Hanger Space and the other way around, but when I tried to propose such an exchange to explain the Kandosii-type Dreadnought's unusual armament/hanger size, Ayden goes and posts a new rule after the fact to state that it can no longer be done?

Or the general standard practice of ignoring old and overpowered subs until someone reports them and claims that they are unfair?

We don't yank out the unique Super Star Destroyer designs for modification every time the Starship Guide gets changed. We leave existing stuff alone and focus on the next thing to come down the pipe. So I see no reason why this retroactive ban fits with the standards that have been used of the forum up to this point. I can see and agree with the concern for fair play. But why ban dragon characters specifically and keep Rancors or other non-humanoid, barely sentient species? How is [member="Faenrovon The Radiant"]'s character any more powerful and 'unfair' than the multi-ton slug in Tank grade body armor?

So you're saying that a dragon when it enters the battlefield and automatically picks up artillery flak from twenty emplacements and also a squadron of starfighters on its tail, as well as force users who just want to take down a dragon and then has to somehow manage to survive all of that whilst the only advantage is blaster/vibroblade proof hide that does exactly zero good against artillery shells and starfighter laser cannons is.... overpowered? Interesting.

Too bad I'm not creating dark stars, swallowing suns, ripping the bridges off of star destroyers, or stopping lucrehulks from crashing into the surface of a planet.

That would be unthinkable.

Honestly though, it's not that big of a deal. I'm just irked that staff is getting all worked up about "abuse of dragons" when, to my knowledge, I haven't seen any and have never been reported.

Anyway, carry on. Was toning down the use of this character anyway.

I find your passive aggressive rant to be grating.

I am giving you an opinion, and you are entitled to yours, but this is not a way to make your platform any stronger. All I hear is "my creativity is being crushed" which is the exact same thing that happened when we introduced the Starship Guide - and it's really not turned out all that bad.

Staff & Members alike, keep the conversation civil.

You may vent, but if it gets too unruly in here, order will be established. Raging & passive aggression does not overturn decisions. Rational debate does.

Not trying to be passive aggressive, I just have a forthright tone. I'm sorry if the internet doesn't convey that very well and I apologize if it carried any offense to your person. I'm only dragon human.

To be clear: I'm fine with banning dragons.

I just think the reasoning behind why they were banned is silly. Saying "Arkanian Dragons shouldn't be sentient and you're dumb for making one." makes sense. Saying "Arkanian Dragons are overpowered" doesn't when we have people running around that have singlehandedly destroyed whole planets. That's all.
