Communication: Lowing grunts, body language
Technology level: N/A
Religion/Beliefs: N/A
General behavior: Banthas are by nature social herd animals. Docile and curious, they like to explore their surroundings, and should be supervised like any other pet. They are affectionate with each other and have the capacity to form a strong bond with their owner. Because of their herding nature, we recommend purchasing Bantha Buddies ™ in pairs, though with conscious companionship, frequent attention, affection and socialization, even lone Bantha Buddies ™ will be well behaved and calm. A bored, lonely Bantha Buddy ™ can be minorly destructive to textiles and rugs- a secure play area with approved toys and regular companionship will nip these undesirable behaviors in the bud.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
GenPals chose a familiar animal for their initial foray into the market. They kept it simple, working on only one aspect of the species to change- their size. Utilizing genetic engineering, they brought the size down by regular increments, each generation of cloned and altered animals smaller than the last. While they had hoped to go even smaller, attempting Banthas that could fit into the palm of a hand and live in relatively small cages on a child’s dresser- but the health issues incipient in bringing them down to that size were too great and the Micro Bantha Buddies were abandoned. Choosing an already docile species was deliberate for their first attempt as well- while Bantha Buddies ™ are a little skittish compared to their larger cousins, they were a natural choice for the first foray into the market.
