Battle Against Our Nature [SJO Event]

Qly4ZC7.png

Several weeks before, a ship had emerged over the Silver Rest, containing a newly minted Sith Lord who had intended to take advantage of the Silver Jedi's tendencies to take in those of the dark side who needed to heal, to set up a hit and run. It had been interceded by the foresight of the Master of the Order [member="Josh DragonsFlame"], as well as their Hand ally [member="Riamah"] who boarded the ship, arrested the attacker before they could reach the Silver Rest and in the midst of the battle, the ship had been blown to pieces just over the Shadowlands. The ship's remaining debris and cargo, or what was left of it, fell into the Shadowlands, likely to be eaten or destroyed by it's creatures.

But there was one box amongst it all that survived the wreck and all that followed. One that had been left off the admission of [member="Nicholas DragonsFlame"] who had now reclaimed his memories and was amongst their camp now. Not that one could blame him after all, the young man was still disoriented after having two sets of memories clash at once. While all seemed to be well in the weeks that followed, in the Shadowlands, perhaps not all...

A Wookiee with dirtied black fur wandered through the Shadowlands. While many of the Wookiees had greeted the Silver Jedi Order with kindness and welcomed them, not all of Kashyyyk's denizens were so welcoming. Some remembered the olden times that they had been either associated with, or subjugated by the humans. Czerka had tried to make slaves out of them once upon a time, and the Sith had in more recent years tried to kill them off almost entirely and subjugate the rest. Whether out of fear or out of sheer disdain, some made it known and stirred trouble with the others. These tended to escalate into violence, and in turn, the offending parties generally found themselves in the Shadowlands alongside other Wookiees that had broken the laws of their villages. This Wookiee in particular was one of them, who felt the Silver Jedi Order were going to take them down the same path that others had in the past. He was prideful, well-meaning but too prideful and immersed in his beliefs for his own good. And the years since had not been kind.

This Wookiee was the one to find the box. Finding it severely damaged, but still very much intact. While one should know not to trust what one may find in the Shadowlands, this Wookiee had lost much of his reason. Without much to lose, they would open the box...

And what was inside began to let out a glow.

------------

It was several days later at the Silver Rest that reports had begun filing in that several Wookiee villages throughout Kashyyyk were being attacked by hordes of creatures from the Shadowlands, and even worse yet, there were reports of Wookiees that had been banished being part of the attacking forces. They attacked with nothing but blind rage, and did not seem to be able to be reasoned with. They almost didn't even seem to be sentient, just acting on animal instincts alone. As more reports came in, it became clear that the Shadowlands themselves were not to blame. Even Kashyyyk's regular wildlife had begun terrorizing settlements on the planet. Another disturbing report even indicated that the trees and plants themselves had begun to attack any that came near...

But the biggest shock of all as more and more of the Rangers that remained on the planet were deployed, was that there were Wookiees that were prior friendly to them, suddenly becoming like the attackers, unable to be reasoned with... And turning on their brethren.

The Silver Jedi Order had been hard at work trying to prevent casualties throughout the planet as much as they could, but their numbers were limited. A massive assignment had been laid out not long ago that meant that many of the Silver Jedi's forces were off-planet to handle it. While the Rest had not been left completely defenseless, it left them rushing to keep up with the spread of chaos throughout Kashyyyk. Rangers and the scientific teams were already on looking for the cause. An energy signal within the Shadowlands had spiked and led to an investigation there, leading to something that brought back some of the jerked around memories of one Nicholas DragonsFlame...

"It's a virus. One my Master had intended for me to plant within Kashyyyk" The former Sith Lord had explained to the Silver Assembly, shortly after requesting the presence of any that were available. "It is a bioweapon engineered to infect the denizens of Kashyyyk and them alone. It will not destroy the planet, and it's effects should wear off eventually... But that time will not come anytime soon and the damage they will do in the meantime will be horrific. It appears to have been planted in the Shadowlands, and first corrupted those there. For the infected creatures there, their ferocity and killer instinct have been increased tenfold, and are like sharks seeking blood. They will be the ones to spread out and attack whatever it is that gets their attention first.

For sentients... They're a little more complicated. It is a similar thing to the creatures, but this virus was also engineered to heighten their negative feelings and emotions beyond their boiling point, motivating them into action. They will attack the biggest object of their most negative of feelings. Which means that a lot of them are likely attacking the settlements that wronged them. No life, plant, animal or humanoid is safe... And the virus will continue to spread across the entire planet over time. I don't know of a cure, unfortunately, but if you do get on lead for one... Act quickly. The more the virus spreads, the worse this chaos gets. "

The former Sith would bow his head then. "I am so sorry. I had thought it destroyed, and with all these different sets of memories swirling through me, it just... Never came back to me. My Master must have known there was a chance I would fail, if the box survived all of what happened."

With that, the once-Sith left without a word, taking the lightsaber that his brother had gifted him the parts for on Life Day in order to rebuild a blade, to start the rebuilding of his life. And that meant repaying the kindnesses given to him...

It wasn't long after, that rumbling could be felt at the Silver Rest. The senses of many a Jedi would begin going haywire, and odds are many would already know what was to come. Scouts spotted them first, over the horizon as they came through the trees. Creatures of the Shadowlands, creatures of the surface Kashyyyk, Wookies... It was as if the very planet had turned on them and were heading straight for the Rest.

They would have to fight to survive. And to protect those that were not as capable. From younglings, to the creatures residing within the Rest, they would need to be protected...

[SIZE=10.5pt]OOC[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]Objective 1: Defend the Silver Rest[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]The Silver Rest has been attacked by those affected by the virus. The Silver Jedi Order will need to protect the Rest and it's denizens until the scientific teams can create an antidote to spread across the planet and end this chaos. As time progresses, reinforcements will arrive the more that the virus spreads. Keeping them as far away from the Silver Rest as possible is instrumental to holding them off and surviving until our goal can be reached.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]Objective 2: Save the Wookiee villages across Kashyyyk[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]The Silver Rest is not the only victim of attack. There are many Wookiee villages spread across Kashyyyk that are far closer to the virus than the Rest. Protecting the villages, preventing as much collateral damage as possible, and most importantly, protecting the Wookiees that live there are vital to fulfilling this objective. Some Wookiees have managed to resist the virus, or it has not reached them yet and may be willing to help fight alongside the Silver Jedi Order to defend their homes.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]Optional Objective: Assist in developing the cure for the virus[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]While a team is on the job of developing some sort of antidote for this virus that can be spread throughout the planet, the efforts will take some time. Any able-bodied members and allies who are capable of lending to this project are welcome to it. The sooner that the antidote is created and implemented, the less carnage that will be caused between now and then.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]Enemy Examples[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]This is not explicitly a list of all that you may encounter, but here are some examples of what you will see during the event for those looking for them.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]Objective 2: Save the Wookiee villages across Kashyyyk[/SIZE]

Kashyyyk was under attack. A virus, causing people to go mad. The wookiees were being slaughtered and it was all that the Silver Jedi Order could do to hold back the darkness seeking to overwhelm them. A call had gone out, when the first hints of trouble had began, and Allya Vi'Dreya, ever the protector, was quick to answer it. The CIS would never leave their allies to burn on their own.

Quickly, her Scimitar headed into the atmosphere, scanners quickly taking a measure of the situation. Silver Rest....no, it wasn't hers to defend. Instead, she could feel the darkness creeping to take the lives of the innocent. Sith or not, she was a knight, and would be damned before she stood by and did nothing. A squadron of Clankers was with her, she didn't have enough droids to protect everyone, so she would protect what she could. Gritting her teeth, piloting the ship quickly, expertly down to the treeline, straight for a large wookiee village near the source of the darkness she felt, but not swept up in it yet. If the Dark Side had caused this, then the Dark Side would stand against it, doing all it could to hold the line.

As the ship flew through the tree line, Allya jerked back on the stick, just in time, to avoid a pair of massive branches trying to swat the ship down. Eyes narrowed, this was worse than she had thought. But it didn't matter. Finally approaching the wookiee village, defenders were valiantly holding off a Kkorrwrot, however, were not aware of the pack of Deathspine varactyl that had climbed up the massive tree, and were about to pounce. Positioning her craft, she let off a volley of laser cannon fire into the creatures, causing them to shriek and fall back into the dark depths of the forest below.

Landing the craft on a wooden platform, she fully activated her armor, putting it into combat mode. “Droids, activate. Mission, to protect the village from those attacking it, spread out, help those who are injured, and protect the perimeter. Bring the badly wounded into the ship, and have the medical droid assist them, one of you, guard the ship.” Orders were snapped, and quickly obeyed by her battle droids. They were a good bunch, well programmed for a lot of tasks, and so she kept them around during her travels. Luckily so, this would be.....difficult.

Quickly, the Mandalorian Sith rushed out of the ship, ignited her blood red saber, and force jumped onto the back of the Kkorrwrot, driving the saber deep into the creature's neck. It tried to shake her off, but her boots clung down on it, and she ripped through the beast with her weapon. As it collapsed, she moved to the wookiee defenders, bowing deeply. “I am Allya Vi'Dreya, we are here to hold the line. Please, lets get your wounded to the ship.” She didn't know if they would understand, but the submissive posture they were certain to. It was respect.

Once, long ago, the droid and the CIS had come, trying to conquer the planet, today, the Daughter of the CIS and her small detachment of droids, came, to put their lives and honor on the line, to protect it. She was not a Jedi, she was not a creature of light. But one didn't need to be any of those things, to protect what was important. Allya dreamed of a day where peace reigned, where no child of any species went to sleep in fear. It was what she needed the power for, to make that dream reality. She would protect this village, or die trying. She just had to hold the line as long as she could, and keep the darkness from taking any more of the lives here. Using her commlink, she called out using her ships transmitters. “Jedi, this is Allya Vi'Dreya of the CIS, I am at a village, trying to defend it. May the Force be with you.”

Best to let someone know she was here, so that if she fell, someone would at least be able to tell her family. Her droids formed a perimeter, and began firing as more creatures swarmed up the tree trunk. Anger filled Allya, and she let her passion to protect these people fill her very being. The Dark Side covered her like a cloak, as her own dark cloak settled around her. The Mandalorian in her, was loving the challenge.

Objectives: 2 (and 1 indirectly)
Allies: Jedi
Enemies: Virus-infected mob

"Red alert: we have received reports of Wookiee villages coming under attack. They seem to be infected by some sort of dark-side virus that cause those infected to go on a rampage" a reconnaissance squad leader reported in.

"We need to have the remaining MobileMortar-4s loaded with stun rounds, perform hit-and-run attacks and lure them into bottlenecks among the dense foliage: scattered, they will charge blindly into a trap while we will be under cover to fire at them, and they would be too angry to think about sniping at positions under cover, or even check their surroundings. But any lethal force will be restricted to small arms fire unless the hostiles are tightly massed"

"Medvac Leader standing by" the lead medvac pilot under Jessica's direct command at the Rest acknowledged.

An enemy that is calm, collected would potentially think of sniping at positions under cover or demo when faced with an entrenched opponent behind the sort of cover Kashyyyk's forests provide. Plus stun rounds are there to limit collateral damage, while electromagnetic plasma machineguns, and even snipers armed with Umbaran EM plasma rifles in nests. Even the last battle on Kashyyyk was fought a little differently. Here the enemy has different means to carry out their attacks, it's as if they replaced their artillery by Sithspawn, she thought, while the army was getting into various positions under cover, some of them hardened (especially near the Rest) and others were simply standing ready to move at a moment's notice. Here she had to make some contingencies in case the first plan of death in detail failed - and it was likely to. Hit-and-run was heavy on kiting especially when most infected creatures needed to close in to be effective. But any mention of the virus made the medvac crews wary, especially since they needed to collect samples to help the medical research teams develop a cure against it on top of rescuing injured people on the battlefield.

Objective 2: Protect the villages

Masaru was in cover with his rifle, firing at the incoming animals. The mercenary has seen a lot during his career but nothing like this, at least not like this. The creatures just seemed to pour into without any real organization, going completely off instinct to overwhelm the villages. He had only been here for a short amount of time and is already facing a conflict that endangers his life and those around him.

The Mercenary tried to keep the casualties low, protecting the people in the village as best as he could. Masaru tried to keep his distance from the creatures, knowing that even his strength and skill wouldn't be good if he was overwhelmed by the infected creatures. If they got too close, he would draw his sword, but at the moment he focused on keeping them away from him and the villagers with his rifle.

As he continued to fight, [member="Allya Vi'Dreya"] had joined the fight. He didn't know who she was and didn't very much care, as long as she was here to assist. Masaru continued to fire at the creatures, covering the villagers and this newcomer.

Masaru made sure he was equipped with the proper gear, donning the Marine Assault force, Reaper unit. Being under The command of the Jedi that defeated him in a dual, he was given access to some of the equipment the unit has. In terms of weapons, he was using the Rangers Assault Rifle and had his own blade to fight with.

Today seemed as though it was going to be a long day.

"One of my advisors will be an average five-year-old child. Any flaws in my plan that he/she is able to spot will be corrected before implementation."
~Memoirs of an Evil Overlord~

Padawan War Journal, something has come to kashyyyk a darkness.. a terror.... naptime approached but before that dreadful nanny droid could come to try and hunt me down something else came. the sound of alarms... the marching of boots and the sound of an attack but from what... from where... this is the silver rest. this is the home of the silver jedi.. so how did we get attacked and not know about it until it was too late. Being curiously... I went to go and see and that is when I discovered it. These are the tales of me Akela Ru... age five

The small padawan was there looking at it as she moved, the rest was under attack by creatures and they all moved like one mind.. all came at the jedi with a single purpose... they had been taught the native creatures from the shadowlands attacked outsiders yes but they also attacked each other and the sonic fences.. and the shields, the cannons... the patrols.. all of it well discouraged them from attacking the rest because there was easier things to go after... why endanger themselves after all.

So she watched and moved stopping as the different AI"s appeared, there was quiet the library AI who served to have information and history. She was reciting previous such incidents of attacks and implementing protocols... there was La Rasa the hellcat AI a combat and defensive AI that was sending out droids and biots that would defend the rest... then there was Rose a medical AI making sure the wounded would be taken care of. "Ah AI Rose what is happening?" She asked it looking up and offering large blue eyes.

"THere is an attack being initiated on the Rest itself. nothing to concern yourself with padawan Ru we are perfectly safe." She said it and the small padawan thought about it. "Ahhh but how aren't we protected with like shields and people and all of those defenses we aren't supposed to go near?" THe AI looked at her. "Yes normally but it seems the defenses were switched off for some unknown purpose to allow such creatures to attack us... more alarming is how they are acting. With a singular purpose as opposed to what would be natural."

She scratched her head. "Ah I have no idea what that means." THe AI looked at her for a moment. "Let me explain, Kashyyyk exists in an ecosystem, that ecosystem has many dangerous predators that have evolved within the shadowlands and they survive eating each others... fighting and killing each other. THis is a part of the cycle of life on the planet. It is their fighting that makes the world go round as it were and when we came the silver jedi after the republic and other groups didn't do much to impact that cycle of life."

THe AI continued while she was lookiing at her. "Judging by this ist seems all of the creatures on the planet have suddenly developed a sort of hive mentality where they are all one thought... attack the rest. As opposed to hunting each other... very strange but once the got within range of the biometric scanners we were able to detect genetic mutations from foreign material within them. COmpared to previous genetic samples and scans so we know the root cause as all fo the creatures share this foreign cause." Akela looked at her and her eyes were wider.

"Ahhhh something is making them all act like this... that denotes a sort of sentience or at least a simple mind if it goes after us to spread... or it might be attracted to the force. That it can jump between all of the different species itself tells us how dangerous it can be and why we have to make sure it is eliminated." Akela nodded. "How are we going to do that?" THe AI grinned. "We've already begun, thanks to quiets records and information from the last time a biological material was used to create havoc against the silver jedi we have medical biots developing a synthetic agent to neutralize the threat."

AKela nodded. "What about the rest of us?" The other two were there. "Well you should stay here with the nanny droid while medical response is being done and a cure developed rapidly from available sakura resources. It can still prove a threat, the defenses were shut down to allow this attack that means sabotage or at the least a high degree of incompetence." The one who had remained quiet was La Rasa the hellcat defensive AI. "it also means well whoever did this thought because soem jedi were helping the groups in sith space that we'd be understaffed."

"YOu mean we aren't but the other jedi are gone." Akela said it but the AI looked at her. "And? We have two hundred thousand clone soldiers in reserve that have not been used by the silver jedi's army, several different squads and battallions including a guardian squad that takes on leviathan's. I have several groups of war droids if need be and we have grown more then enough ranger biot soldiers to easily man and defend our ships or serve in the smaller outposts. Thinking we are understaffed because some jedi are gone is short sighted at the least and at the most almost insulting to well ones intelligence."

Akela was nodding to that. "Oh okay so like even without a group of jedi we aren't like totally you know without people who are able to defend... we have like help?" THe three AI's nodded in agreement to that while working on things. "Yes exactly, recalling from the jedi temple several units Isard set up including a guardian squad will serve to deliver heavy hitters if the raiders don't engage for some reason. Or recalling Iron Maiden's Reaper company who work as shocktroopers in the shadowlands. We also have reserves in the ships in orbit itself with the Jedi shadow."

Akela gave a nod of her head. "So what can we do." She said it pointing to some fo the other younglings with her there. "We are the youngling crusaders and we are here to help." She put her hands on her hips in her best peter pan pose and was looking at the AI's as they seemed to be debating among themselves for a split second. "Ahh well someone does need to possibly find who sabotaged the defenses. THis much damage all at the same time is almost statistically impossible without some form of meshanical intervention to harm it."

SHe had a mission.. the youngling crusaders had a mission. "THen we shall find this sabatager and bring them to justice... of course doing this will mean we are not going to partake in naptime but that is only to our benefit.... now come crusaders lets put on our thinking caps and search for clues." She said it as they were getting their equipment.... advanced mapping technology (notepads and crayons), grapple hooks (random streamers and shoe laces) provisions (snack time cookiee's) and most important of it all their lightsabers (sticks).

Objective 1: Defend The Silver Rest!
[ from [member="Akela Ru"] ]
ZXDmlmR.png

Three had no idea what was going on.

There were attacks cropping up all across Kashyyyk. There was an attack on the Silver Rest. All of the younglings were getting rounded up and herded into the more shielded areas of the Jedi temple. And he heard adults talking about some kind of virus.

...so, they were under attack by the flu?

How did that even work? He was just a clone. And not really knowledgeable about such things.

Was that even a thing? Because it looked to him like they were under attack by Wookiees, some Rancor-looking thing, and a lot of very bad things that were just straight up creatures. Not very flu-like at all.

Three had had the flu once. It had looked like a lot of chicken soup. Which he'd thrown up later. Definitely not Wookiee-like at all.

Unless the Wookiees were attacking because they wanted the Jedi's chicken soup? Because, if that was the case, they definitely didn't know what the cafeteria food here was like. Plus, it tasted horrible when you threw it back up.

Whatever the case, Three had been deputized by this Togruta girl who seemed like she might actually know what was going on. At least more than Three did at the moment. So, they were going to be Youngling Crusaders!

...their armory definitely needed a better budget, though.

Objective 3: Find a antidote

Reggie was doing everything he could to create the antidote for the carnage that was going on outside. He was originally going to help the villages, but the sooner the get the antidote finished the better the situation would be.

Considering they were up against a virus, they would need to figure out how to stop it from replicating inside the body and spreading to others. The Padawan looked over the information they did have on his datapad, thinking of what could destroy the virus. The virus must have been reducing the hosts ability to think like a sentient being and debased them to creatures of pure instinct. From what he assumed, the virus must be attacking the brain and turning them feral.

Reggie looked towards to the people he was working with, ready to share his thoughts with whoever in the room.

Today had certainly not gone as planned, first of all he had suddenly been giving the task of looking after his younger sister Akari for the day while Wu and his older sister went out to take care of something. Not that he was against looking after the cute little creature that was his sibling, though it was rather sudden and out of the blue with no real warning. Depite his normal attitude Tana did have things to do and people to see, he just went about it in ways that seemed a little odd.

Though things became hectic when the sounds of alarms blared through the speakers, lights in the hall way and the constant shifting of boots and people causing quite the panic in Akari. "Akari, daijōbudesu, watashi wa anata ni nani mo okora semasen". He tightly hugged the small girl patting her long black stands lightly, small sniffs coming from her as she started to calm down. "Nani ga okotte iru"? she asked in a shaken voice, this not being one of the things she expected to happen while at the Silver Rest. He felt out with the force, feeling the darkness approach, the sound of battle coming from outside, it was certainly a dangerous day. He broke away from the hugg, planting his hands on Akari's shoulders "Kōgeki, koko ni taizai shi'te kudasai, watashi wa chōsa shimasu".

All he got was a small nod in reply but that was enough, the young Jedi grasping his saber and blades, running out of the room and into the hallways following a group of rangers towards the main entrance.

Don't worry Akari I won't let anything happen to you
What is happening
An attack, stay here I will investigate

LOCATION: WOOKIEE VILLAGE BORDERING THE SILVER REST, FRONTLINES
OBEJCTIVE (2): DEFEND JUSTICE
sjheaderblue.png
A beam of light ripped through a huge, mantis-like creature, felling it swiftly.
Rick wielded a rifle for firing where his floods and lightsaber were unable, desperate to protect a world so important to the Silver Jedi Order. The village was less than fifty kilometers away from the Silver Rest, and was host to a desperate last stand as giant creatures continued to flood the place. Rick wasn't the only defender - Wookiee soldiers fired bowcasters into the horde, while a few other Jedi were present.

As a savage Wookiee ran straight towards Rick, he aimed for the infected's chest and held the trigger for one second. Enough to incapacitate the Wookiee, but not kill him. If a cure were to be discovered, many live Wookiees would need to be treated.

The last defenders of the village formed a tight half-circle near the outskirts of the village, a great fence right up against them. If they slipped, it would be a very far drop.

With that in mind, the defenders resumed relentless firing, even against insurmountable odds. Rick loaded the fourth charge into his rifle as empty bowcasters were turned into desperate melee weapons. Still, the garrison held, at least for the time being. Rick used the Force to his full advantage, throwing beasts in all directions, even without a body of water nearby to manipulate.

Today would be a very long day.

There was a team assembled and while the AI"s searched for the cure she was moving. "Come on crusaders." Akela was moving and stopped when she saw Tana and Reggie. "You two there... by the ask of constipation (conscription) you are coming with the crusaders while we try and find the sabacabbage who took down the defenses and allowed all fo these things here... the medical computer needs an hour for countering problems." She said it and the benefits of an AI that had experience doing this in the past helped it would let her go around with THree and them both. THen Akela saw another.. someone younger and she spoke. "Halt you there." SHe moved towards Akari and held out some of the candies. "It is dangerous out here, you will need this magic pills to restore your stamina."

Reggie was taken aback when he saw [member="Akela Ru"] walking around during this struggle.

"What are you doing here little one?"

It seemed as though he was being drafted by these.....crusaders? Reggie looked at [member="Tanaski Yumi"], who he just noticed was close by. The Padawan was wondering what the best course of action would be. The antidote was important but the team that was working on finding it had already made some headway. He wasn't going to let the younglings wander around by themselves, and it seemed as though they were trying to help. Finding the person that took down the defenses could be helpful, and Reggie could still check up and help on the antidotes progress by staying in contact with the team. First though, Reggie would try to convince the youngling to head to their quarters.

"While I appreciate you trying to help out, don't you think -"

Akela had ran off to Akira before Reggie could finish his sentence, the Padawan assuming that the youngling didn't hear what he said. Looks like he'd be making sure the "crusaders" didn't get into any danger. He'd still be trying to figure out the antidote while doing this though.

Objective 1: Defend The Silver Rest!

Their self-appointed Togruta master had impressed two more into service.

The clone paused his running long enough to offer the two an obligatory, "Hi!" Then he took over, chasing after the five year old Togruta as she produced magic pills.

...Three was quick to grab a meiloorun flavored one. Because he needed some magic. And stamina.

And it was also his favorite flavor.

One of the teenage padawans tried to talk to Akela, but clearly underestimated the speed at which the five year old could move. Not to mention her penchant for not listening. Though, from what Three had been able to observe, not listening seemed to be a universal trait in kids.

Well, except for clones. But then, the cloners of Kamino had apparently made some modifications in order for the clone troopers to be the perfect soldiers. Something something obedient.

In any case, the clone trooper tossed the padawan a jaquira flavored Saori candy for the effort, then took off after Akela.

Objective: Protect the wookiees!
Nearby: [member="Allya Vi'Dreya"] [member="Masaru Varga"] [member="Rick Kaloo"]

”I understand these are your people, but they’re not mine yet. I need to protect those that can’t protect themselves.”

Those were the words Gherron spoke to [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] before they parted. They had known each other for a long time, and if anything was certain, it was that once Gherron set his mind to something, changing it was no easy task. If he ever needed a reason to fling himself back into the galaxy, defending the Wookiees from some darkness was the one. Once being dropped off, he took a good look around and his face grew sick at the level of carnage already wrought before setting his jaw. This plague ended now. Striking forward to his objective, he appreciated the flexibility of his nexu armor. Its sleek black frame certainly didn’t point him out as a Jedi, which was fine with him since he still didn’t consider himself one any longer. The look was sold by a long, wicked looking pistol on his side he’d affectionately called Absolution, and by a similar looking sword on his back with an inlaid azure jewel called Alnox. His newly fashioned lightsaber hung at his side, but only as a last resort.

His attention was swiftly directed to the sounds of yelling, both the guttural Wookiee variety as well as that of some large creature. Taking off in that direction, he soon came to the sight of a Wookiee fending off kkorrwrot from its family, which cowered behind it. Without a word he unsheathed his sword, taking it in both hands before leaping onto the creature’s back. It almost instantly tried to buck him off, and it almost worked, until he buried Alnox deep into its back. The creature screamed out in pain, the alchemy of the blade and it’s light aura burning away at the dark forces controlling it. Gritting his teeth, Gherron ground his sword deeper into the kkorrwrot, only wrenching it free once it finally stopped moving and toppled over. Only then did he dismount the beast, clean off his sword and tend to the wookiee family. He didn’t waste time trying to talk to them, as he didn’t know the language, but his gesture, as well as the gorgodon tusk on his neck was enough for them. He was a hunter, and a defender. Two things the wookiees understood more than anything. Bowing his head deep in respect, it was then when he heard a voice on the nearby comms chatter.

”Jedi, this is Allyah Vi’Dreya of the CIS. I am at a village, trying to defend it. May the force be with you.”

So, it seemed this operation really was all hands. Touching his finger to his ear, he sent out a reply.

”Miss Vi’Dreya, this is Gherron DragonsFlame, here to assist. I strongly suggest we regroup. This battle is on many fronts, and it will help to have each other’s backs on this.”

Tana looked towards Reggie then back to the small Togruta youngling, then back to the padawan with a blank stare, who in the force was this little girl and why was she commanding people around? It seemed as though the small Jedi had gotten quite a few people wrapped up into this 'crusade' she spoke of, though the knight was not certain if the girl was serious or just having fun.

Any question he tried to put forwards was quickly shot down as the small yellow skinned being ran towards Akari who had seemingly followed him but for what reason? "Wait those pills are they... on no not sugar". If there was one thing his younger sister saw as more important then her own live if was sugary sweets and jelly beans were certainly sugary and very seat, that nose of hers was certainly strong.

Upon seeing the Togutra approach with the bean like lollies Akari's eyes became saucers. "Gimme gimme gimme", the 6 year old shouted, almost tackling the Togurta, followed with Tana face palming himself over the two childish tag alongs the defenders now had. "Where is mother when you need her".

Objective: 1 and 2 (from a strategic standpoint)
Allies: Jedi
Enemies: Virus-infected mob

Something's fishy about this virus: it seems to be producing very similar neurotoxins to those anger hormones in the alchemical poison I used Force-light to cure Jair from, and these neurotoxins made the virus all the more virulent. Now, one may be led to wonder what sort of chemicals would have similar effects to Force-light on dark-side neurotoxins, but usually one would need to look at weak chemical bonds in these neurotoxins, and my intuition is that these neurotoxins are vital for the virus, Jessica thought, hoping that [member="Reggie Faayare"] would actually receive the telepathic message. Meanwhile, the first people became injured when the angry mob blindly charged through a killing field set up in hardened positions. Nevertheless, it was only the first wave coming through to the Rest, but the others were, well, easier to hunt down since the enemy could no longer think straight. Some of them were shot in the legs, so that they could no longer move, and yet it was just the beginning. Really, all that she was doing was to buy time for the cure to be ready for distribution.

Tom and [member="Rachel Taff"] stood around in Hyonu's lab trying to figure out the best way to cure this virus as it was clearly some kind of mix of normal virus and possible force alchemy. Tom was mainly there due to the fact it was affecting not only animals but also from wild reports plant life as well. "So we are dealing with a Sith virus, probably something that has been influenced by the darkside of the force?" Rachel nodded "Almost certainly we are, best guess probably affects their neural systems driving them mad."

"Anyway to obtain the original device or capture the first creature infected?" Tom asked. "The canister we could do, as for the first one infected not so much. More than likely in this system dead due to another animal or creature attacking it." Tom nodded "Fair enough this is also similar to something my 'friends' came across a while back. Fear toxin that attacked the nervous system driving half the people insane and making the others docile." Rachel swore "Kark any way we can find out what it was and how it was treated if this is similar"

Tom thought about it a while "I did manage to score a sample of it for my researchers to figure out but as far as i know they never made it to the curing stage. Although they were close. I will get the info from them hopefully we can figure something out." As he pulled up the data and they poured over it together hoping to find something the researchers missed.

Akari and Akela were there sharing candies "I don't like the blue ones, they are kind fo sour.... here lets give them to one of the adultings... it will make their faces scrunch up." She laughed a little but the AI's continued to work, defensive droids cotrolled directly by the hellcat like cerberus, rekali, sasori and rangers were able to resist the sabotage having a dedicated AI housed in the saratai controlling them. The medical equipment from Sakura running off one of their dark matter energy reactors and isolated as it could use the karra converters and molecular furnaces to create the buildings blocks to make a cure faster as the computers ran and quiet was working to eliminate suspects while leading the team on a path to try and find who was causing the problems. "Come crusaders we must protect the candy from the evil person trying to damage the rest..... the ice cream cakes will melt if they succeed."

Objective 1: Defend the Silver Rest

Kashyyyk had come under attack by a virus planted by the Sith Lord who had sent Nicholas to Kashyyyk. He had given them a briefing on it before, and he was still relying on him for knowledge... But Nicholas had soon after disappeared once things had gotten heavy. Josh had been doing his best to run directions to the teams that were heading out toward the Wookiee villages, as well as the ones trying to deal with the virus.

"According to scouts, the original artifact is gone. Was likely absorbed into the planet when it first spread the virus. Which means that just neutralizing the infected won't do anything... All we can do is prevent casualties until either it wears off, which could take days to weeks to months... Or until you guys can develop a cure that can be spread through the planet in similar fashion" Josh would speak into his communicator on his line toward Hyonu's labs, addressing [member="Tom Taff"] and [member="Rachel Taff"] in turn. "It's possible you could obtain samples of the virus, if you can get someone from the field to deliver them. A creature, or plant life that has it. Might be easier to find an infected tree, or plant, than haul back a creature. But whichever you find first. The further into the infected areas you go, the more likely you are to find them. But the risk will be higher. The further in you go, the harder it will be to return to safer grounds. The very trees will attacked you in those areas, after all."

He'd also been directing teams toward the villages either reported attacked, or ones more at risk. One of the ones sent out was [member="Gherron Vael"] who had ran off claiming these were not yet his people, and the Wookiees could not yet defend themselves. That was fine, he didn't have to be so dramatic if he wanted to go out and help them. Josh wanted to go out and help them too, but... His place was here.

And then the rumbling hit. Josh knew what it was. He knew immediately. He didn't even have to sense it to know what was about to happen. Something that made him immediately drop everything when the reality of the matter hit him.

Jason. He needed to get to Jason.

Josh would rush through the Rest until he found his way into the youngling's nursery. Gingerly signing out Jason and taking him with him, Josh found himself, without thinking much, just acting... In the shipyard. Very quickly, Jason and Porgbert had been loaded onto The Maekrix along with R4 and HK and the rest of his droid crew. Josh began walking up the ramp when the realization of the situation hit him. And it hit him hard.

They were undermanned, and there were more younglings here, animals here, people that couldn't defend themselves here... Fatherly instinct had made him about to leave Kashyyyk to protect Jason, but...

He badly, badly wanted to leave now. Take Jason to the homestead, wait it out. But he couldn't do that. The fact was, with Jyoti being Force knows where...

They needed him. And it was his job as Master of the Order to protect them. And as a Jedi, too... This was a time he had to put his own desires aside.

Letting out a sigh, he would begin to walk down the ramp.

"Master, where are you going?" HK would ask. Jason had stopped at the end of the ramp when HK said that, realizing that his father had stopped walking with him. The clear anxiety in Jason's expression made Josh's hands ball into fists. Jason was used to going on the ship with his father. The fact he wasn't on the ship yet was clearly upsetting him. But Jason couldn't stay here either. It was too risky. Josh would step forward then, meeting Jason at the centre of the ramp when the child made strides to follow him. He looked up at HK first.

"Take Jason and go. The shortcuts are already in the ship's nav, R4 will know where to go. Tell R4 to take every shortcut possible, so long as it's completely safe. I'll contact Madalena and ask her to meet you at the homestead. As soon as you are in the air... Engage cloaking and keep it on no matter how much it consumes. The ship is fuelled enough to make the trip. I'll worry about a return trip later."

Worst case scenario, he took the Final Dragon to return to Kashyyyk. His main concern now was getting Jason home as safely as possible. At any cost that didn't endanger the lives of the people that needed him here.

"But Master-"

"I have a job to do, HK. I'm trusting you to take care of Jason. Can I trust you to do that?"

"... Yes, Master."

Josh would kneel down to Jason, then, who seemed to realize truly now that his father wasn't coming. The child looked utterly terrified. And yet his question came in the smallest, softest whisper.

"You're not coming, daddy?"

"Daddy has a job to do, Jason."

"Why?"

As small as his words were, it completely shattered Josh's heart. He didn't want to do this. He didn't want to be here. He wanted to be with Jason, but...

No. He had to do what he had to do. He couldn't be selfish when they needed him.

"Jason..." He spoke softly as he brought his hands to his shoulders. "You like Atticus, right?" He asked, referring to the son of [member="Celeste Rigel"] who Jason seemed to get along with.

Jason nodded his head. "Mhm..." He responded in what was almost a scared whimper.

"Would you protect Atticus?"

Jason nodded his head again. Josh smiled softly.

"There are lots of younglings like Atticus here. Daddy needs to protect them too. You'll be safe with the droids, and Aunty Porgiana if she can get there."

He knew Ra intended to be involved in the battle, or he would have asked her to take Jason and go. He needed to rely on Maddy. He hoped she wasn't busy, and this would be short notice, but he knew she'd understand if it was an emergency.

"And when this is over, daddy will come back. We'll spend the weekend at home, if I can. Okay?"

"Okay"

Josh would take a deep breath, before wrapping Jason in a tight hug. "Daddy loves you, okay? Be good for HK and Maddy. I won't be long."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

He looked toward HK then.

"Once you get to the planet, do not break cloaking until you are inside of the house. Am I clear?"

"Of course, Master."

"Good. Take Jason and go. Make haste. Keep me posted by the half hour."

HK would herd Jason into the ramp, and the child, while incredibly hesitant, would soon follow them. The Maekrix would take off and flee into space. Josh frowned as they disappeared.

"Bye..."

Josh's heart was heavy as he turned and marched down the halls of the Rest. He couldn't contain the tears that started dripping down his face as he lowered his head. Steeling himself, he would wipe his eyes and bring his head up high. He needed to show confidence for the sake of morale, he knew... He needed to keep his head held high. It was as a leader should do.

Josh would begin to scout the battlements, watching the hordes beginning to approach. With many of their forces sent out to defend the Wookiee villages, they didn't have the best defense force right now... On the other end, with much of their foes attacking other places instead, the Rest had some reprieve compared to if it was a focused assault.

He scanned the area for who was preparing to venture outside of the Rest to engage their attackers, or who had already ventured out. People such as [member="3X744"], @Jessica Med'beq, and [member="Riamah"] who he'd been looking for. As he looked to his comm, he wanted to make some kind of speech, something inspirational, something motivational... That's what leaders did, right? But... It just didn't come to him. As he turned on communications, he spoke short, but from the heart. His voice held passion, determination, drive... Confidence.

"Remember who you defend and why you are here, remember what you fight for, and what you stand for! Keep that in your heart, and this day will be ours!

I'll be leading the charge to defend our home. May the Force be with you all."

With that in mind, Josh had already joined up with a group of Rangers, who he would be covering while he led the charge. Amongst them was a Ranger he recognized. Antonio Parks, a former slave that he and [member="Dusaro Dresari"] had liberated long ago. As Josh exited the Rest with his squad, he would review the approaching horde as they walked.

"I'll go in and thin them out... Head in behind me and finish them off. You know your orders. Shadowlands creatures, dead or alive. Kashyyyk creatures, alive most preferred, put down only if absolutely necessary. Wookiees... Alive. No exceptions without emergency cause."

With that, Josh would draw both of his lightsabers, two brimming blue blades igniting with a snap-hiss. Channeling Electric Judgement through his body to provide a surface that his opponents wouldn't be keen to touch, his body sparked and crackled as it was cloaked by lightning, his eyes sparking bright blue for a few seconds here and there.

"We will protect our home."

Masaru was having some trouble facing off against the never ending horde of creatures, especially since he was trying his best not to harm some of them. The infected Wookies were the most difficult to defend against. Not only did they have the advantage in strength and speed, but the Mercenary was doing everything he could to knock them out. It's not their fault that they're attacking the Rest, but the viruses. The younger, less experienced Masaru wouldn't have cared about that and did what he could to save himself and the rest. He hasn't been that selfish kid for a long time now though, the voice of his pre-deranged father echoing in his head.

"We don't put the mission above the lives of our men and the lives of the innocent. People who don't deserve to lead are the ones that selfishly put the mission first, you understand that? We keep casualties to a minimum and the lives of others first."

The memory was pushed aside when he heard chatter on the comms again. [member="Gherron Vael"] had been speaking about regrouping, which the mercenary thought was a wonderful idea. Masaru brought up his arm to speak into the commlink he had.

"I think that's a great idea. we can't afford to get overwhelmed here, so lets all take a step back and form up."

The Mercenary didn't bother giving up his name, finding it unimportant at the moment. He continued to fire at his rifle while preparing to meet up with the others.

Objective 1:

Allya was a Sith, and while her mentality was to protect, she was used to killing to do so. She had no qualms with it. However, she was also a creature of compassion and emotions, and watching the young wookiee in front of her try to reason with their parent who had been infected while the parent tried to murder them, something in her snapped. I will save them all. I don't care if its selfish. Rushing towards the youth, she stood before them as the parents claws came out, and slashed down. Armored arm caught the massive blow, and she growled in pain. Immediately the suits medical programming kicked in, injecting her with a pain killer. A click, as she switched her blaster to stun, and she brought it up, firing twice into the giant wookiee. As it fell, out of her pouch, she drew a syringe of sedative and injected it into the wookiee.

Turning, she shooed the youngling into the ship. She had to get them out of here. Dragging the unconscious body towards the center of the village she ignored the possibly fractured arm inside her armor from the sheer shock and power behind the attack she blocked. Activating her comms she commands the droids “On the attacking wookiees, use only stun attacks. Bring out the sedative stores in the ship. Anytime we get one down.....I have an idea, bring the stores to me now.”

Rushing, towards the danger, blaster fires, more wookiees collapse, more sedative injected into them, rinse, repeat. It was reminding her of the droids she fought on Triffis. Only, that had been thousands of droids, and was a lesson in futility. Here, she would be damned if anything was futile.

A sample of the blood of one of the wookiees was taken by syringe, and she took it to the ship. Quickly she put it into the computer, and began to analyze it, and linked her computers to the Silver Rest's. “Got samples, not sure its going to be good enough quality to use, but, its the best I can do for now.” The medical droid was treating the injured wookiees and it was getting crowded onboard her Scimitar. However, it made her heart swell. Worst case scenario, they began to get overwhelemed, they would survive. Even if she herself couldn't she would buy them the time they needed. However, evacuations were not complete.

As the mecenaries commed in, she commed back. “There are dozens of villages. We can't save them all, but I'm at the heart of the darkness coming at you, trying to take out as much of it as I can before it gets to your villages. Evacuate them, find ships, air ships, speeders, anything, get them as far from my position as you can. It gets worse the closer you are, we can buy time if we can get them out of the area.” She left the ship again, and dove back into the fray.

Lightsaber was back out, slashing at the wildlife. She cared less about the animals than she did the people. It was just the reality of the situation, the reality of her. She didn't kill if she didn't have to, but, it was a losing battle as it was. She couldn't afford to waste resources on keeping them alive too. One of the droids was struggling, badly damaged, but managed to fight off several larger creatures, and push the wookiees onto the ship. “E-L-7, return to the ship, guard the ship, and the passengers, X-17 replace him.” She switched out the droids commands. Each was precious to her, each's personality based on her own, knights willing to do whatever it took. Far smarter than the B-1's the main armies used.

I will be sending a ship out of the area soon. And will begin trying to evacuate each village as best as I can, to some safe zone. Is there any place better defended than the others?” She calls back to the mercs. As she waited for an answer, she reloaded her poisoned darts with a sedative, so she could fire them from a distance for a more efficient time scale. Vexia allowed darkness to surround her, anger to well up inside, giving her strength to keep going, to push past the pain, and not give into the never ending enemy.
