  • Shipyards Name: N&Z StarWorks - Bescane Orbital Shipyards & foundries

  • Accessibility: Located as a massive, quite clearly visible from outer space, orbital space station, foundry and shipyard which circles the entirety of the planet Bescane and as such shares its location in regards to the maps and hyperlanes. It is located with the planet itself in the Outer Rim territories and is situated within the Braxant Run, which allows for an easy access to trade routes in terms of resources, goods and products, especially with close proximity to Jaemus and Muunilist.
  • Description: The N&Z StarWorks Orbital Shipyards and Foundries are a massive ring with approximated radius of around 30,000 kilometers situated in a stable, close to low orbit around Bescane. It is built in adherence to the designs of the Orbital shipyards around Kuat and as such takes quite a few visual cues from those older shipyards. It has the distinction of having around thirteen long spires aimed towards the central position of the planet, acting as guidelanes for resources, products, material and people that are transported from the planet's surface. These can include shipments from planet-side facilities belonging to the N&Z or its local partners. These guidelanes also include the docking bays for visitors and potential clients. It's construction set up exists out of an inner ring which is lined with stabilizers, thrusters and the majority of powersupplies, while the outer ring has the outward shielding to protect the structure from possible astronomic objects and anomalies, but also to provide a safety net in times of war. Within the outer ring there are not just the foundries and the numerous dry docks, but also a vast number of hangar bays for small to midsized ships to refuel, unload cargo, or be repaired. There is also plenty of space within the outer ring to provide a staging ground for a large number of starfighters in case of an emergency.
OPERATIONS INFORMATION
  • Production: This facility has a wide range of products which it can produce, with it having a condiserable number of dry docks capable of holding ships of up to five kilometers, it is suitable for anything between starfighters and battlecruisers, granting it great flexibility in terms of manufacturing ships. While it has been designed to be capable of producing anything from starfighters up to battlecruisers, its location on the Braxant Run does demand that it focuses mainly on frigates, cruisers and star destroyers since these are to be considered the ships of the line of most navies and thus demand easy transportation to their clients.
  • Specialty: Due to its large size and opportune location, the Bescane Orbital shipyards have been designated as the premier shipyards for the N&Z's specialized cruisers and star destroyers, while it also maintains a position of one of only three locations where the Dictator-line of battlecruisers can be built.
  • Output: Mixture - This orbital shipyard is capable of assembling ships at a very good pace thanks to the already quite ingeniously implemented preproduction of superstructures at other facilities of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation. However, while it is capable of churning out alarming numbers of starfighters, corvettes, etc... It will always have designated areas specifically meant for limited production ships that require a more meticulous fabrication process, which ofcourse includes the aforementioned Dictator Class Battlecruisers.
  • Market: The Bescane Orbital Shipyard is intended to mainly have its base within the Outer rim territories and any faction or region easily accessible from the Braxant Run, as such it does lower the pressure and transport costs on the other shipyards of the N&Z.
POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Guidelanes: The Guidelanes act as visible tracks for shuttles and freighters to follow when both coming from the planet's surface as well as beyond the orbital shipyard, allowing a smooth transition of goods and materials, but also people and products in and out of the shipyards. These guidelanes have fortified magnetic tracks for maglev rail transportation used for both people and material transport throughout the day and night.
  • Inner Ring: The inner ring of the Orbital shipyards is where most of the offices, industrial complexes and storage space is located, it has a maglev rail transportation system allowing for various goods, products and materials to be transported safely and punctually throughout the orbital shipyards. The Inner ring can be called the heart of the orbital shipyards because of these attributes. it is also here where the individual shield systems have been placed at regular intervals, allowing for sections to be actively shielded sequentially and allowing for easier control over the transportation in and out of the orbital shipyards.
  • Outer Ring: The largest piece of the orbital shipyards, it is here that ships of all sizes are docked for either dismantlement or to be fully built up. It also houses a large number of hangar bays to either store, stock or repair squadrons of starfighters at a time, while also guaranteeing a standard rotation of on board defensive craft should the need arise for these to be deployed.
  • Specialist docks: Within each of the Outer ring's sections there is at least one large dockyard with additional plating and security, these are meant to be used for specialist ships, custom orders or prototypes that require more competence and secrecy.
  • Reactor Grid & fuel refineries: To effectively make sure that the orbital shipyards have ample power and reserve power, the inner ring also houses a long grid of NZ F.A.R. Fusion Arc Reactors which serve a dual purpose, as just with the NZ PF power plants and fuel refineries this power grid also has a fuel refinery attached within each section, allowing for storage of fuel onboard of the orbital shipyard.

The Bescane Orbital Shipyards have been built with a keen eye on ease of process and efficiency, but due to the expected importance they would have for not just the N&Z Umbrella Corporation, but the Outer Rim in general, it was quite clear that the heaviest possible security meassures had to be taken and provided to make sure that the orbital shipyard would remain operational in and under even the heaviest and dire of circumstances. As such it has a multitude of safety systems and protocols which are listed below:



HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The creation of the Bescane Orbital Shipyards sees its origin in the first contact between the Diarchy and the N&Z Umbrella Corporation, where the latter under leadership of Tertius C. Nargath saw an opportunity to supply the then upcoming minor faction with military supplies and hardware in exchange for favorable treatment and greater opportunity within the growing faction.

Ofcourse as time went by, the Diarchy quickly shaped itself into a useful ally to the corporation, becoming a major market when the fact truly started to spread its wings. However, as the Corporation and mainly its chairman was financially and materially backing the Diarchy's smooth transition from minor power to major faction, this did drain the N&Z's coffers and obviously those of House Nargath as well, thus in the end an agreement was made that the N&Z would be taking center stage as one of the Diarchy's foremost political and corporate sponsors, allowing the N&Z to be a part of the future edicts and decisions made by the Diarchy.

One of these edicts was ofcourse the utilization of the industrial planet Bescane, which as it entered into Diarchy Territory was but a shell of what it had once been. While it still had some infrastructure, most of it was ancient and obsolete and as such it was perhaps the perfect planet from which to start the Diarchy's Economic stimilance. Contracts would be sent out all across the Diarchy and beyond, attracting a whole load of small companies, laborers and experts on the field for the sake of rebuilding the Bescane industry. The cherry on top of it all, was the construction of what was probably the largest shipyard in the Outer Rim; a technological and engineering marvel which was meant to act as the center of the N&Z's activities within not just the Diarchy, but the Outer Rim as a whole.

Utilizing the prime location near the Braxant Run, bescane's rebuilding would be done in record time, with easy access to hyperlanes and the Diarchy's internal stability granting a steady flow of laborers, materials and more, the first sections for the shipyards had been completed by 901 ABY, with only half a year later, the collapse of two nearby empires opening up more traderoutes and freeing up the transportation of goods, the Bescane Orbital Shipyards were effectively put into service in 902 ABY.
