Beskar Everywhere!

Now, I'll prefix this by saying that obviously Mandalorians are supposed to have this stuff.

But should they have this much of it?

Just recently we've seen a limited production submission of 140kg barding for Mandalorian cavalry. We've seen lances, we've seen limited and even minor production items.

Now, naturally Mandalorians should have access to it, but it seems to me that it's just getting absurd and being used as a tick-box lightsabre immunity. Indeed, there are so many things being used which are immune to lightsabres, one wonders why the Jedi and Sith even bother any more.

Regardless, should we not make even Mandalorians do a short dev thread for how they intend to use the stuff, even if there are no other restrictions imposed?

For an ore found only in one system there sure is a lot of it floating around.

I have a personal opinion on this and that Karen Traviss got out of hand with Beskar to make her Mandalorians really powerful. Beskar fighters etc etc.

If I was Mandalorian, I think I'd rather do a development thread about making my armour from a roleplay perspective, wouldn't you?

Lots of people make Mandalorians for the sole purpose of being able to, for lack of a better term, abuse their position to make Beskar items without having to put any extra work into a dev thread. At least, that's what I've felt has been going on for a long time, now.

I hardly think any Mando peon would be able to use Beskar at their own leisure, especially in canon. Not a professor on the subject, but still: if the material is so valuable and powerful, I don't believe for one second the Mando leaders would allow just any person in their ranks to hoard their fill of it. Plus, it has to run out at some point.

How about the Mandos instead of doing a mining thread have to do a /forging / thread?

Like a thread literally getting a master beskar forger to make whatever they need? It can be an NPC or PC, because it is getting pretty ridiculous how much beskar stuff is out there now.

Plus this makes it fair. They don't need to do a mining thread, but definitely one to turn it into whatever they want with a master beskar blacksmith. Those blacksmiths and the art to manipulate beskar is per canon very rare.

I like this. As I said, the armour is a part of being a Mando AFAIK, I don't think it's unfair to ask them to write about creating their beskar goodies.

I like it, [member="Danger Arceneau"]. Make them forge it. And longer threads for each step up in production, limited, minor etc.

I think this can be rolled out now easily enough.

This makes perfect sense with a longer dev thread based on production and the degree of complex nature.

If it sounds good with [member="Spencer Jacobs"] as well, then we can certainly roll this out right now.
