Better Run, Better Run, Faster Than My Bullet (Dokeshi)

Well. So much for the Primeval's "protection". Apparently they didn't reach far enough to help Morrigan on Felucia. This was why she didn't really enjoy factions that much.
Morrigan walked through the weeds in the absurdly large forest (if you can even call it that), her wings partially touching the ground along with her long black dress, Aurum perched on her shoulder. The natives hadn't been very helpful, either. To be more precise, they'd driven her out rather violently from their territory.
She turned her head to the side, looking at Kobayashi with a side-long glance.
"Do keep up, Koby. We don't want to get lost here."

"I am keeping up, Morrigan. Just that I'm trying to keep track of several scents at once. Call me paranoid, but we're being chased."
Kobayashi's gloved right hand gently gripped Morrigan's. It'd been a disappointing, and rather dangerous, day for them both. Between the fact that mentioning the Primeval in a conversation led to getting shot at, and whatever was hunting them now, the Felecatian knew that they would be walking a very long time. He looked around a little before smiling at her (or at least, lightening his frown a bit) and squeezing her hand.
"Not exactly the romantic walk you had in mind, huh?"
[member="Morrigan"]

"I don't know. The threat of being ripped to shreds by an unseen beast makes everything slightly more beautiful, don't you think?"
Morrigan replied jokingly. Aurum cawed slightly, squeezing her shoulder with his talons.
"Don't you be jokin' about that, Morry. I ain't lookin' to be eaten today!"
Morrigan rolled her eyes, looking up at him.
"Hush, Aurum. There's no need to express your cowardice until we actually see a beast. Besides, I'm sure you'd taste as fat and juicy as a roasted chicken."
Aurum's feathers bristled a little as his right eye met with hers. He then turned his head to the side as if her was oblivious to her comment.
[member="Dōkeshi"]

"Tch. I'm the unseen beast."
Koby's mouth twisted into the closest possible thing to a sneer he could do. The eagle was sort of getting on his nerves with his telepathic whining about all the beast and monsters around here.
"Oh, Aurum, don't worry. They might not even kill you before they cook you."
He tilted his head to listen as he heard a distant roaring noise. And then he looked at Morrigan.
"Maybe you should get on my back, Morry. Kitty form runs fast."
[member="Morrigan"]

Aurum cawed angrily over Morrigan's shoulder at the man-cat. She shushed him, petting his feathers as the roar could be heard.
"I don't think that will be necessary, Koby."
She gave Aurum a look. The large raven flapped its wings, leaving her shoulder and flying away. Morrigan then turned around. She stretched out her wings and started walking a slow circle around Kobayashi.
"In a situation like this, I think it would be a better idea to take a different approach. From the skies."
She suddenly grabbed him from behind. A few seconds later, they were soaring above the strange canopy.

Koby grumbled as Morrigan picked him up and they flew off.
"If you weren't so... you, I'd be seriously angry right now."
The white Felecatian crossed his arms anyway, grumpily waiting until he was put back on the ground. And maybe until he could grab his feathery girlfriend and kiss her.
[member="Morrigan"]

Morrigan smirked, her chin resting on his head as she held him.
"Your Kittyness doesn't scare me, dear. I've seen much, much worse."
Aurum flew up beside them.
"The natives! Tamed rancors! Searching below!"
The bird cawed in Morrigan's direction. She looked down at the ground. Sure enough, there were at least four rancors up ahead of them. Good thing they were in the air before the beasts could make it to them.
[member="Dōkeshi"]

"I know, Morry. And I categorize some of the chit we're seeing today among 'much, much worse'"
He could see the rancors below them. Ugly frakking creatures, though Koby felt hypocritical thinking of it, with his corrupted hand. But his killing instincts made him feel like turning into a cat mid-air and getting Morrigan to drop him bomber-style onto the enemies. His brain told his instincts how fundamentally stupid that was, and they shut up.
"Well, my dear, I think we might be better off landing in a tree or something for a bit. Dumb beasts can't climb."
[member='Morrigan']

"That might be best. Perhaps waiting them out will- Ungh!"
Morrigan grunted loudly and something pierced her left wing. Oh, Feth. She tried to continue flying, but the pain was too much to bear. They started to descend, getting faster and faster. Before they could hit the ground, she used one last powerful flap to be able to drop Koby on a small mushroom tree. Unfortunately, she was the one to tumble to the ground. Oh Goddess that HURT....
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby leapt off of the mushroom as soon as he landed. Morrigan was hurt. They were in trouble. He could take way more punishment than she could. He ran over and carefully picked her up, wincing slightly as he saw her wing. Trying to be as quiet as he could, he gently wrapped his arms around her and spoke silently into her mind.
Do you think you'd be able to stay on my back if I carried you?
[member="Morrigan"]

Morrigan had to bite her tongue until she could taste blood to keep herself from screaming as Kobayashi picked her up. Aurum flew down to them, seeing her wing.
"Not good! Got a few arrows lodged right in the joints and skin!"
To Koby's question, all she did was nod a little.
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby easily snapped the arrows and pulled them out of Morrigan's wing, before picking her up piggyback style and shifting into his cat form. He gently used his mouth to get her safely and solidly seated on his back before taking off at a run. At roughly the size of a large speeder truck, he easily leapt over most of the obstacles they came to.
---------
Eventually, after about three hours of running, Koby stopped and shifted back into his humanoid form, holding onto Morrigan as he leaned against a tree.
"Is your wing hurting less now, Morry?"
[member="Morrigan"]

Morrigan's talon fingernails dug into Kobayashi's shoulders as he pulled out the arrows. She let out an airy grown of relief and pain when he was done. Her piggyback ride consisted of her gripping onto Koby's fur, burying her face in his fur to muffle the screaming after jumping over something, and Aurum constantly trying to soothe her as he flew above them.
When they finally stopped, Morrigan looked paler and felt very warm.
"If by better you mean that I can't move it without wanting to cut it off, then yes."
She glanced at her back. She could see the blood making the wing sticky and wet.
"Wonder how much blood I'm losing.... I'm pretty sure they put some kind of toxin in those arrows...."
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby took a look at the wounds as he pet Morrigan's hair as soothingly as he could. The fact that she was still bleeding meant that if there were any toxins on the arrows, they hadn't infected her enough to make the wound fester, yet. That was good. His ears perked up as he heard the sound of running water nearby.
"Morry? You wanna get in the water and try to see if I can clean those out?"
[member="Morrigan"]

"Trying to see me naked and wet, are you?"
Morrigan joked. It was a weak tone, though. She was hurting a little to much to put more effort into it. Aurum gently landed on her shoulder.
"Might be best to let the cat try. Get it clean an' flappin' again."
She patted his head.
"I know. Just trying to.... Ngh!.... Make light of it."
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby looked back at her with his usual deadpan expression.
"I wasn't even going to take your clothes off. Better clean in wet clothes than bleeding and dry."
He scooped Morrigan up in his arms and walked towards the river. It was cold, and the Felecatian shuddered slightly as he slowly sunk himself and his black-winged empress into the water.
"Hold on tight, and don't be afraid to squeeze my arm as hard as you want to. This'll hurt almost as much as it does right now."
[member="Morrigan"]

"I'm not so sure about-GODDESS......"
Morrigan cried out suddenly. The water was so cold on her wound, it actually burned. She couldn't keep herself from squirming a little. Her grip was probably a lot harder than it looked, but she didn't care. Tears started running down her cheeks. but she tried her best not to make any noise. They didn't want to attract any more attention.
"A-alright. I take it back. You can cut it off..."
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby held Morrigan as closely as he could, letting her squeeze as hard as she needed to for the pain to be okay. Of course, it wasn't okay. Just feeling her pain in his mind made him want to cry. He gently cleaned out the small holes in her wing, at least happy that there was no pus or discoloration. When he was done, the bleeding had stopped, and he held onto Morrigan with both arms.
"You're okay, Morry. You're okay."
He began stroking her hair again, trying to reassure her.
[member="Morrigan"]

Morrigan let out a strained laugh.
"T-that's easy for you to say, Koby. You're the one who gets itchy when someone stabs you..."
By now, her entire body was numb from the chest down. So long as she didn't move it at all, her wing was the same way. For some reason, she felt very exhausted. Now that Kobayashi was finished, she was practically limb in his arms.
"Native species or no, I will have my vengeance. No one shoots down the Goddess of the Skies. No one."
She sounded angry, but in a tired way. Aurum seemed to shake his head a little bit at the statement.
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby gently kissed Morrigan on the mouth as he held onto her.
"Goddess, huh? You gonna talk evil to me?"
He was practically carrying her, now, but he didn't mind. His hands were gently massaging her head and back, trying to relax her.
"I love you, Morrigan."
