Better Run, Better Run, Faster Than My Bullet (Dokeshi)

The kiss helped. So did the light massaging. But that last part... Morrigan looked at Kobayashi with a perplexed expression.
"I'm sorry, what was that? Do my ears deceive me? Did you just admit to feeling something?"
She was only half-kidding.

Dokeshi looked at her as quizzically as he could without the benefits of facial expression.
"Love doesn't count as an emotion. It's a biological hormone imbalance combined with attraction towards another object. Doesn't even have to be animate."
He was teasing Morrigan a little bit. But only a little bit. What was probably affection towards her didn't register in his brain as affection.

Morrigan looked straight through Kobayashi's mask and directly into his eyes.
"It's an emotion, Koby. Hormonal imbalance or not. If you can't process that just yet, then just say that you're fond of my company."
She smiled a little and played with a piece of his hair. One day, she'd make him truly understand feelings. He was getting there. But not quite. Aurum cawed at them.
"All this mushy's making me SICK, Morry!"
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby pushed his mask up from his eyes to look into Morrigan's.
"Fine, then. There is a very deep hormonal imbalance that makes me fond of your company. And kissing you."
Poor oblivious kitty thought his scientific, emotionless, logic had won out.

Morrigan and Aurum exchanged a look before turning their attention back to Kobayashi.
"Oh, honey...."
Morrigan said. Her tone was full of pity. She managed to hug him, stroking the back of his head.
"Don't worry. You'll understand one day. I'll make sure of it... Now, could we get out of this cold-as-Feth water? I can't feel my body."
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby was a little bit confused as to why Morrigan was looking at him that way. Wasn't what he said the same as saying he loved her? Except, without the operative word being 'love'. He thought about it as he carried her out of the water and sat down next to her, back under the tree. He slipped his non-clawed fingers in between hers and took his mask off before looking at the black-winged woman.
"I don't understand, Morry. The difference between holding your hand or hugging you and quickly touching somebody I don't know is obvious to me... But I don't get why my view of love isn't love."
[member="Morrigan"]

"You see, there are many different kinds of love. There's the love a mother feels for her children. There's the love that friends share. There's the love a king feels for his kingdom. And then, there's the love a boy feels for a girl and vice versa."
Morrigan looked down at their hands as she explained.
"When you truly experience love, it isn't an easy thing to explain. It's like.... You're angry and happy and sad and shocked all at once. You feel warmer than you've ever felt. So warm that even a snowstorm couldn't effect you. Your cheeks go red, and your heart starts to pound so hard and so fast that you feel like your chest is going to explode. You can't stop smiling or crying, or both. Everything you see is wonderful, no matter how ugly or disgusting it actually is. But the person you feel love for? They're like the sun. They're so beautiful and so perfect that it almost hurts to look at them. And you're so overwhelmed with joy and disbelief, because of all the people in the universe, they chose to be with you. When you're with them, time stops. No one else exists. It's just you, and them. You look at them, and you see everything that they love about you, too. They make you feel invincible. But most of all, you know that you'll never be alone again. You'd die for each other, you'd live for each other, you'd give up everything just to be together. And nothing will ever keep you apart. Not time, not distance, not even death. Nothing..."
Morrigan seemed distant for a minute. She blinked, and then looked back at Koby and grinned.
"That, Kobayashi, is love."

Koby thought for a moment. Morrigan was describing something familiar... He tried to remember what'd been going on inside his brain the day they'd met. Music. Smiles. As close to actual emotion as the Felecatian could feel. He scooped her into his arms again and felt himself relax.
"What you're describing... is how I feel about you. I simply can't attach emotion to it."
A very small bit of the corner of his mouth turned up. An almost unnoticeably small bit. But it was as much of a smile as anybody in the last few years could have gotten out of him.
"I love you emotionlessly, Bird Lady. Even Hell had to give you back to me."
[member="Morrigan"]

Morrigan smiled at him. She gently put her fingers on the corners of his mouth and shoved them up.
"So that's what you look like with a full smile? Handsome devil..."
She gave him a small peck on the lips.
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby cuddled Morrigan closer and held his hand up to press hers against his face, growling slightly as he stared into her eyes again.
"And you're as beautiful as always, my empress."
He kissed her back, carefully pulling her into it with his clawed hand on her back.
[member="Morrigan"]

Aurum cawed very loudly.
"Pardon me for breakin' up this VILE exchangin' of spit, but we might wanna find a good place to hide! And Morry's gonna need that wing wrapped up if we wanna keep it from festerin'!"
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby let out a laugh that sounded more like a cough.
"You are a wonderful killjoy, Aurum. Thanks for the reminder, though."
He gently touched Morrigan's wing with his un-clawed hand.
"Sorry, Morry, but you're going to have to extend it so I can put bandages on."
[member="Morrigan"]

Morrigan flinched a little from the touch.
"I hardly think that-"
Aurum cawed at her. She sighed, and then gritted her teeth as she extended her wings.
"OwowowowowowowowowOWWW...."
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby squeezed Morrigan close as she extended her wings. He could tell how much it hurt her, so he was very quick about grabbing a few kolto packs and bandages from his belt.
"You know the drill. Squeeze my arms as hard as you need."
He slowly began spreading kolto over the small holes in her wings, and then began unwrapping the first bandage.
[member="Morrigan"]

The kolto was cold. It made the wounds tickle so much that it was irritating. Morrigan shuddered, her wings fluffing. That didn't make things any better. She squeezed Kobayashi's arms very tightly, burying her face in his shoulder to stifle a loud cry.
"S-shameful... Being reduced to... a screaming little girl because of... some random loosed arrows..."
She spoke between labored breaths. It was either try to control her breathing or scream so loud that they'd be caught in a heartbeat.
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby tried to comfort Morrigan by once again stroking her hair. He'd managed to get as much kolto as he needed into the wounds, and so he began bandaging them. As he put the first couple of them onto her wing, he put his mouth to her ear and whispered to her.
"Nobody can insult my bird queen. Not even my bird queen."
As he continued, he gently pushed her against his shoulder.
"You can bite, if you need to. I won't feel it."
[member="Morrigan"]

((OOC: .....I feel like the "I can't feel it" line is subliminal messaging. Well, so much for pleasurable nights with Doky.... :p))
"I'm touched. but something tells me you wouldn't be so smug if you-Nngh!- knew what this felt like..."
Morrigan twitched a few times, making annoying pulses of pain shoot through her muscles. This better be worth it. She better be able to use the damn things again. Otherwise, she really would cut them off.
[member="Dōkeshi"]

((She'll just have to try really hard to find his spot, won't she? :p))
Koby finished putting the last of the bandages on Morrigan, and then pointed at his clawed hand.
"How did you think they gave me this arm? Limbs are easy enough to reattach that that wasn't an issue."
He hugged her to his chest again and sighed heavily.
"We should really just stay here unless somebody finds us. No point shaking you around just because I'm paranoid."
[member="Morrigan"]

Aurum seemed to shake his head in disapproval.
"I know you're a tough kitty. But we're too out in the open to stay put. Morry's obviously not in the best shape, neither. We'd be safer if we found some cover."
Morrigan sighed.
"Well, either way, I don't want to just sit and argue until we die..."
[member="Dōkeshi"]

Koby shrugged and stood up, again holding Morrigan like he was going to carry her.
"So, into cover, then..."
He looked around, and only saw huge trees and mushrooms.
"What can we make into cover?"
