Between Ice and Fire

Setzi Lunelle

Searching for Eleos's Altar
Setzi noticed the immense doors and her heart skipped a beat as she knew her test today would continue beyond them. There could be three raiders, there could be twenty of them behind those doors. She leaned forward, putting her ear closer to the opening, trying to see if she could hear anything. But there was only silence.

“There’s just something about you that’s different,” she said, finally answering him. “I can’t put my finger on it.”

If the room beyond the door was wider and more cavernous, Setzi planned to ditch the revolver. The deeper they went into the dig site, the more she was resolute that she should really be using her lightsaber which she was more familiar with.

“I want to try what you did back there,” she said, looking over her shoulder. “All I’m doing right now is watching you, Walker. Can I try some Telekinesis now?"

The padawan couldn’t tell if it was fear, survival instinct or just impatience to learn. But with only the revolver, Setzi felt a little sidelined.

Old brick and mortar, but there was something vile about the way the stones were structured, Darkside radiating from it and trying to snare in your gaze with its abstractness. That was the main danger of Sith Temples, it wasn’t the artifacts that could or couldn’t be there, it was the entire structure that was seeping with the energies of the Darkside.

His hands extended themselves, palms facing the huge doors. Slowly kinetic energy started to gather around him.

“Follow my lead, gather as much energy as you can in your hands and then… unleash it.”

The Underlord could feel the force building up around them, it was palpable, dangerous too to a degree, but Setzi was right.

They didn’t have a clue how many would be waiting for them behind those doors, it could be only one or two or it could be around twenty. So having those doors crash into them would already solve a few problems and give them a few moments of respite.

Setzi Lunelle

Searching for Eleos's Altar
The pair of them had been down inside the dig site for so long, Setzi began to lose sense of what time it was. Had a few minutes passed or had it been hours? Were they going to emerge later in the pure blackness of night with only a sliver of moon to light their way?

The darkside energy at the door was strong, so much that her side, where Khaleel had healed the wound with Sith Magic, momentarily sparked with electricity. However the padawan would not make the connection. She only furrowed her brow at the unexpected sensation, and her face smoothed when it had passed.

Concentrating as Malvern instructed, Setzi tried to build the Force energy up in her mind and pool it in her hands. And as though she were holding pure water, she did find it difficult to contain. But eventfully and cumulatively the Force began to build, the kinetic energy buzzing now, almost visible on her fingertips. Determinedly, she set her jaw and balled her hands into fists. But since this power was new to her she wasn't sure to let it go or continue to let the energy strengthen. It felt too potent and her delicate hands ached to let it go.

Through gritted teeth, still trying to contain it, she asked, "Now Khaleel?"

But it was too hard to hold the energy back. She was not far enough along in her training for that type of restraint. Without warning, her arms straightened, hands pushing, and the Force burst forth from her fingertips and hit the door with crack, similar to the noise of a neuronic whip.
