Description:

As the Taakur Bev'uliik became more standardized as a riding mount, the Mandalorians within the Protectors sought a way to make the animals more effective in combat. As the Bev'uliike could carry a massive amount of weight for extended periods of time without tiring, a Beskar alloy was used instead of other materials such as durasteel or alusteel alone. The material, a beskar/alusteel mix, was cast and forged into great plates of armor. The plates were joined together into larger panels and fitted over a beskar armorweave backing. Realizing that the underbelly and feet of the beasts were still vulnerable, the smiths created another beskar armorweave sheet to protect the creature's gut. More beskar armorweave was used to create "shoes" to place over the bev'uliike's feet. This was primarily to protect against obstructions and debris in the field, but also serves to prevent enemies from easily damaging the beasts' feet. Even the bev'uliik's horns were plated to keep the beast's natural weapon intact against incoming fire and enemy attacks.

The downsides are evident in many ways. The armor is very heavy and slows the animal's acceleration speed. The armor is also restricting to the animal, preventing it from turning as quickly as it can unarmored. The underbelly and feet, while armored, are not as well armored as the majority of the animal, leaving it open to severe blows or repeated attacks. Lastly, the armor is in limited supply as each set is generally customized for the beast it was made for.
