Private Birds of a Feather

Lina smiled, though it was touched with sadness as she reached her hand across the table to comfort Revna.

"If you get the chance to explore beyond the walls of this cell, the Dark Lord has gatheree a great many tomes wirthy of reading within the Malsheem. Make use of the resource and time you have available to you. Should you prove obedient enough, you may even be able to ask for time there as a reward."

Her thumb gently stroked Revna's arms as she buried her face.

We are forever destined to be overlooked and underestimated, to always be seen as the insect beneath a boot. Every time one presses against our spine, they do not realise the strength they give us. You will not fail Revna. You do not have it in you to do so.

Her hand moved to touch the faded ink upon her arm, the word that would remind Revna of her past.

We bare the marks of our trials, to remind us of our strength. You will endure this trial and the next one and the next one. Gaining strength each time. And when the final one comes again to underestimate you. You will break them.

Revna had already been inside the great library within the Malsheem, but it had been to see Srina Talon and not to take in its wonders and study within its labyrinth, but she didn’t trust Lina well enough to tell her such a thing. Perhaps, one day, she would be granted the privilege of doing so, should her Kainate overlords allow her to.

Perhaps so; Lord Carnifex already knows of my hunger and thirst to learn and absorb everything I can. He might just one day let me within its halls to peruse at my leisure.

Lina’s gentle strokes of her thumb on her arms when she buried her face in her hands was a comfort the young Sith wasn’t used to, but one she nonetheless welcomed. The mental words of encouragement only served to stoke the fires that burned within the small, raven haired apprentice.

-It is why I endure everything right now; I gain strength and power from them, from my situation, my trials. This is my crucible, and I know the Dark side is forging me into a powerful weapon. I just have to prove strong enough to endure. And I will. I must. There is far too much at stake for me to fail. Thank you, Lina; I know you are doing this because you made a deal with Strosius. But you have no idea just how much you have helped me by coming here. Make sure to tell my Master what I have said. He will need to play the game too; if he knows I am simply playing my captors, then he could jeopardize what I am doing. He will need to treat me as an enemy, for I will have no other choice than to treat him as such whenever we see each other again, should he prevail in his fight, that is.-

Revna sat back in her chair and sighed heavily; she was weary and her exhaustion shined through her eyes and upon her face.

Unless you have anything else for me, I would like to spend the rest of what little time is left to me resting. I have more training to look forward to in a couple of hours, and I need to be at my sharpest. Lord Prazutis is not a forgiving master, and my punishment for failure is death. I am sure you understand.

Lina offered the girl a small smile. She reminded her so much of her younger self bound by those more powerful than she and forced to endure, but kowing what was at the end of it, holding on to that desire and hatred for her captor was what drove her forward.

I may have come here for Strosius, because i made a deal to find out what i could, but my promise, that I will get you out of here is not for him, Revna. It is for you. Regardless of what happens now, regardless of who wins the kaggath, I will get you out.

She withdrew her hand from Revna's arm and sat up a little straighter.

"Of course, I wouldn't want their prized possession to be tired now would I?" there was a touch of mockery in her tone, a cold smile slipping over her face like a mask. "Enjoy the little rest you can get, while it lasts Revna. I will be back to check on your progress."

A sharp rap on door of her cell and the bolts were pulled back by the guards outside. She cast one last look back at the girl, giving her the barest of nods before she swept from the cell, theheels of her boots clicking on the hard floor as she stalked away, her mind a buzz wth information, plans forming in her mind.

She would have to make two plans, one for if Strosius survived the kaggath, and one for if he didn't. Both required resources she did not yet have. but one way or another, she would get them.
