Why did this happen?
Ko was asking himself that a lot now. Feeling like a failure, filled with shame and guilt. The echo stone around his neck no longer even felt as lively as it one had. Like it was in a deep slumber now. Only able to feel its ‘heart’ beating softly through The Force. Now Ko sat on the bed in the medbay. Facing out towards a window that viewed into the Coruscant urban sprawl. The familiar sight was not lost.
All he could perceive was the fuzzy layout of the room he was in. If not for the two extrasensory organs that flanked either side of his head, Ko would surely find himself bumping and tripping into everything in his path. Fortunately he was spared such clumsiness.
Everything that had happened between the fight on Hetzal Prime to when he finally awoke within the temple was a blur to him. When he was finally able to explain to the healers what had actually happened to him. They began to understand why The Force was unable to offer Ko its healing touch. After Learning it was vongtech that was responsible for removing his sight. Still though, Kel Dor wore his goggles. He still had sensitive ocular tissue where he was hurt, leaving it exposed to the fresh oxygen rich air would leave Ko feeling like he was being pepper sprayed constantly.
Now Ko sat feeling worried and uncertain. Wondering what this would mean for him now. Was he blind now? Permanently? Would his failure and newfound disability cripple his chances of reaching knighthood? Eventually his negative rumination was broken as he heard a knock at the door. His senses were not yet honed enough to tell who it might’ve been. “Come in…” Ko said over his shoulder. Inviting whoever was outside into the room.
