The last hour had been tedious, scanners indicating several vessels he'd had to adjust course to avoid coming in contact with. It had taken him longer than he'd wanted but it was for a valid reason, and so he pushed down his frustration, saving it for later. Now, just outside his cockpit he could see the planet of Barkhesh, large swathes of color peeking through the planet's atmosphere. A quick manipulation of his craft's controls send the nose pointing downward. As the vessel began its entry into the atmosphere the Disciple of Ren noted several strange readings coming from the surface, as he descended further they turned into life forms on the surface. *Unfortunate* he thought to himself. As he examined the readings further he was able to pinpoint their location, at least within 35 meters. It appeared he may not have been the only one interested in exploring the ancient ruins. He had felt a twinge as he'd entered the system, a subtle hint through the force but his skills were yet to be fully developed and he'd paid it no heed. Now he knew why.
Adjusting his flight path a few degrees, his scanners had located several points that would accommodate his ship should he choose to land there, though he wasn't fond of the options. The first site was much too close to the location of the ruins, the lifeforms would undoubtedly see his craft as he came in for a landing. That would not do. The second and third sites were low, each in a copse of small trees, a terrible place tactically speaking. As he manually eyed the readouts his lips formed into a sneer. There, just behind a medium sized outcropping was a ledge, it looked just large enough to squeeze onto and would provide him a wide view of the valley, additionally it was a short jig around the peak and down the valley towards the ruins he had detected. Bringing his ship in low over the treetops to stay below typical line of sight he began to feel an overwhelming conflict ahead. He could feel them now, the turbulence in the force. They were... Jedi? Their aura was different than that of the planet itself, specifically the ruins. From within their depths, even at this range he could feel the power of the dark side emanating from below.
He brought his craft in low, snaking over the tops of the trees in a wide arc. While closer than the secondary and tertiary sites, he would still have to cover a significant amount of ground, and quickly. Nimbly guiding his craft onto the ledge, he slipped in just below a small overhang, hiding his ship from view both above and below. It only took him several minutes to secure the vessel, concealing it as best he could as he gathered up his equipment. Stashed in the small pack he carried were two canteens of water, a small datapad, a bedroll and some dried meat. Additionally he'd brought glowsticks and a light beam. At his waist was a thin utility belt, his sword and two daggers secured there in addition to a holster in the small of his back, seated there was a new piece of gear borrowed from the FOSB, a
Charric pistol. Castor prided himself on his marksmanship, but the blade is where he found himself most comfortable.
Taking care to remain concealed, he quickly made his way down from where he'd landed. His long strides carried him closer towards his goal. As he came within a kilometer he removed the datapad from a small pocket of his pack. Taking a knee, he observed the scan data he'd made while entering the atmosphere. It appeared
someone had set up an excavation site. Exploring the ruins would be more difficult than he'd originally imagined, from the readouts it looked like there may have even been a foray into the ruins themselves, though that had yet to be seen. With a sneer Castor rose, stepping off with a renewed vigor. He could feel the darkness beneath the earth, calling to him. Perhaps he could discover an alternate entrance, barreling through an excavation site was not his definition of subtle, nor was he equipped for such a venture. He could see the ruins now, it would only take him a few more minutes to reach the base of the ruined structure. Once there, he would be able to search for an alternate entrance, careful to snake to the opposite side. It would not do well to be discovered if he could help it.
