Breaking in the new meat

Pureblood don't mean a thing to me anymore.

By becoming a knight I now had the means to teach an apprentice of my own and I was glad to do it. Not just for the sheer fact of seeing what it was like to be the teacher instead of the student this time around but because I would whip any student under my teachings into one of the finest knights in the CIS. I had looked over any and all candidates for me to teach and finally settled on a zabrak by the name of Krest. A decent name and a strong enough looking recruit. Both of what I was looking for in my student. But I needed to see if he was up to scratch.

I sent out a message to him via a number of back channels. I kept it coded so he didn't know who it came from, only that he was to come to Genosis to meet with me. I was going to teach this whelp one of the first rules in combat: always be ready for anything. Rough, sure, but I'd been trained as a Sith before being a Templar. Having the advantages of both would be crucial in any real fight. I gave proper coordinates and all. Now it was just a matter of playing the waiting game.

The area was clear enough with a few of the organic looking rock formations present. I had my ship parked in a seculded enough location as I waited. I ketp my helemt on as well. Before this newbie would see my face I needed to know he stood good enough in a fight. And I didn't just bring my sabers either, I also had my blasters and a few gernades ready. Oh yes. This "apprentice" would be put through his paces.

Krest moved his way to the clearing. For an 'apprentice' he wasn't so new to the game. He had spent many years without the aid of the Force protecting one of the most important people on the planet Falleen. On his hip he kept his saber, making no move to it despite the quiet area. He didn't have to. In his robotic palm he had a hidden emitter for a similar blade, and in his robotic leg he carried an extra saber to be launched out when he needed it.

The Zabrak kept his helm on, a heads up display showing quick scans on what ever was in his site. Nothing so far, but that didn't mean it was about to change. Ambushes were something he was use to. They were commonplace when you were protecting the only heir to a planet. But they were easy to detect on Falleen. Here on Genosis, they weren't. He kept his fingers moving, ready to spring into a conflict as soon as it was needed.

With him in sight it was time. I waited until he was close enough before rolling a gernade at his feet. It was just a flashbang but once it went off it would keep him disoriented enough. That's when I sprung. I ignited both sabers, a purple and red one, and charged at him. Both came in for a cross chop while I shouted "Suprise!" just to give a slight heads up. Well I'd call it a head up afterall.

Krest didn't even bother to look at the grenade. It could of been a rock for all he cared. The Zabrak rolled away hastily, bounding away from what ever it was that was rolled to his feet. But he found himself face to face with the Pureblood. And lightsabers. It was mostly the sabers that stood out to Krest. He pulled his own out then, turning the blue flat blade on. With the flat side of his saber he caught her blades where they met, gritting his teeth. What ever or who ever this person was didn't mater. Getting away did.

Krest lashed out with his robotic leg, aiming to sweep @[member="Siqa"]'s feet from under her so he could simply get away and gain his bearings. Once a distance away, he'd call out to the Knight.

"Why are you attacking me..?"

I had to give him credit for being quick on his feet, even when he managed to knock mine out from under me. I was able to flip back onto them though before he asked why I was attacking him.

"Call it a test!" I said with an almost eager tone. "You make it out of this in one peice then you'll have what it takes to be my student!"

With that I lapt into the air and brought my blades down towards him. After that I began attacking with spinning motion attacks. Often I would stop and change hands just to keep him on gaurd. Again, this was all my own idea of a test for his combat. The force powers would be something to handle later, but for now I had to break the whelp in. Man I loved this job with each passing second.

The Zabrak kept his guard up well, taking both of her blades along the edge of his. From there he kept a wary distance from the Sith, often blocking her spinning attacks and sliding his way around in a circle. @[member="Siqa"] was clearly insane, but she did know what she was doing.

So Krest opted to watch her form instead. Many times she stopped, and what would look like an opening to most didn't seem that way to the Zabrak. Round and round he went, deflecting her attacks with a large amount of effort, but this still wasn't something new to him. But in the split second he caught her blade for the last time he flipped his robotic hand back. It went farther then a normal hand and seemed to lock in place, but for good reason. A darker blue blade shot out of his palm, and he thrust it towards Siqa's chest, still holding her blades against his main sword.

Well this was new. Apparenlty he had robotic limbs and he was using them in the fight. Something I failed to remember apparenlty from his profile. Regardless I saw the blade coming and needed to make a move. I let go of my sabers and rolled away before getting to my feet. I was nealry impales just then but the guy did have a bit of an unfair advantage.

"Well, well. They didn't tell me I had a cyborg in the ranks. Interesting feature you have there." I commented. I used the force to call the sabers back to me before holding them in my hands. "I have to admit with those things you have a bit of an advantage. Not a big one mind you, but still something I think will make you a more valuable recurit."

@[member="Krest"]

Krest let his hand drop back down. The blade sinks back into his palm, and he frowns behind his helm. "You have to be able to make an unfortunate situation into a positive one. I figured this would be the best way to do it. Though, don't expect to find the rest of my tricks yet." To the Zabrak a surprise blade was no different from the flashbang before. And it was only one of two surprise blades he carried.

Hearing this I had to give a little chukle. This zebrak already had a few steps ahead of what I was going to teach him, making me nod a bit. "Alright. You got what it takes. Granted that's because you have your 'upgrades' but still. I think you'll do fine." I put my sabers away and started to make sure everything else was secure before taking off my helmet. I gave him a moment to take in the fact that a Sith Pureblood was going to be his teacher before smiling and asking "Now what you expected?"

@[member="Krest"]

Krest scratches his chin a bit. Pureblooded Sith Templar. "No, I guess not." He pulls off his own helm, watching her warily. "But my question is what now?" She had said she was going to train him, but it made him twitch slightly on the inside. Her method of teaching was.. Interesting. But part of him feared he'd be tossed down into a rancor pit and forced to fight them. Course this isn't the worst thing to come to mind, but it was a start.

"Well now I'm hugry." I said with a smirk. "Come on. I got stuff back at my ship." I indcated for him to follow me all the way back to my ship, not too far away. Once we were there I opened the hatch and tossed my helmet in. I then pulled out a decent beer with a bag of chips, though I had a whole freezer with other stuff if need be. "Help yourself." I said before sipping down my beer. I knew how this would look to @[member="Krest"] but that was the point.

Krest only perked a brow. He moved onto the ship shortly after, but made no move to get any food or drink. Beer and chips weren't his thing. He kept his gaze on the ship though, inspecting it. "It's nice. Don't know a lot about ships, but she's got the looks." The Zabraks hand never strayed far from the hilt of his saber. Clearly he was on edge, but after the events earlier it wasn't that much of a surprise.

I admit I did take a little pride in my ship, so hearing him comment on it made me give in. "Oh yep. She's my girl." I said, patting the hull. "She was a gift from my master. And there aren't that many like her. Very rare. We haven't been in that many scraps together but I know her in and out like a twi'lek lover." I chukled a bit at that, not sure if he would get it. For all I knew he wasn't the type to swing for twi'leks, or girls even. I didn't care either way since I wasn't exaclty one to talk. I could still see he was heistant though before I said "Hang on." I undid my belt and let my weapons slid off before I threw them into the ship. "See? No worries. We won't train until I say we do. And when we do you'll know." I sipped down more beer before asking "So what's the story @[member="Krest"]? Why you in with the CIS?"

Krest let out a revealed sigh then, letting his hand fall from his blade. "I was once the bodyguard of the Falleen princess. Till she died. Then I was exiled form the planet, and I ended up at the Great Convocation. After that there's not much to tell." He shrugs, leaning against the side of the ship. "What of you?"

So a boygaurd with a big enough black spot that it got him kicked off-world? Something I wouldn't hold against him myself but not something I would want to dwell on either. He was hear to be a warrior as well as portector, so hopefully I could make him one or the other. When he asked me I simply smiled and said "I like girls." I gave a coy smile after that before saying "Sorry, @[member="Krest"]. But one thing I learned is not to give everything or anything away you don't want to on the first meeting. But tell you what: you make it through each training session we go through and I'll give you a little more. Deal?"

"Alright then. Now one thing you need to know, with me, is that I'm not just teaching you in Templar ways. Templars take interepct from both Sith and Jedi. And, if you can't tell, I've been trained as a Sith as well. So I hope you're not opposed to the idea of useing some dark side techniques now-and-then. As long as you're using them for a good cause, right?"

@[member="Krest"]

Krest shakes his head. "No, I'm not opposed to it. I'd rather learn everything them limit myself to one side." The concept of balance was something he cherished. The yin and the yang. If he could, he would be both. "Using the dark for good. It's an interesting concept. Though something I would be willing to do."

"Good. You do nice then." I said as I finished my beer and chucked it away. I hopped down and walked over to him before saying "Then he's a quick tip. If you have nothing, no weapons, no sabers or use of the force, what are your weapons? And I mean that. Not a blaster. Not a gernade. And you've become so mentally exhausted you can't control the force anymore. What are you down to that's left?"

@[member="Krest"]

Krest flexes his fingers then. He holds up his fist. "My hands then. My body. I don't need the force or weapons to use my fists." He was a decent boxer. Part of the training to be a bodyguard. But he opted to see what she had to say instead of going on himself.
