"Figure its where they keep the surpluse?" Kivah asked as she watched the espo patrol move on before pusing the door Das had hacked open and looking down the cramped stairway. Maybe it was an escape tunnel of sorts? Made her feel better after the ground quakes that this might still be safe. She thought about it for a few seconds before closing the door again and checking her comm again. In her mind she and Das were the team. Who was this new girl? "I dunno, we'll see if something catches my eye. Might just resell to a ripper. You and the others've got that special one you all like right?"

She looked around, checking the street out, it couldn't stay this empty for long. Emergency sirens sounded in the distance but that hadn't meant much since the quake. Sirens were sounding everywhere and for every reason. "So who is this chick we're waiting on anyways? This isn't exactly how I like meeting new runners." In her experience it lead to lessened cohesion, but that had been mostly with the teams of rag-tag mercs the Sith had thrown together a few times and she'd fought on for the hard creds they provided. Shifting, Kivah looked down at Das and the neon vibrancy that seemed to radiate from her pink and blue eyes across her cherubic face. If things went wrong, this zed, Lizz was on her own.

[DASSS]said: "here. chit's ruff. hope u brought duffelbags X3"

Jrurki had been running in the direction of Sakedo when she got Das' second message. The blonde groaned upon reading the requirement and made herself grind to a halt.

"Chit!"

A voice called out from behind her, then something impacted the left she of her back, throwing her shoulder forward. The force felt strong enough to make her eat sidewalk again, but when she managed to spin around on her heel to use up the momentum instead, she managed to stay standing.

A human man lay a few feet in front of her, curled up on the street.

"Ope, brake check!" she exclaimed, voice apologetic. "Sorry!"

She tuned back around to survey the street's storefronts. Not too far from her was a gym. There was bound to be a duffle bag in there, right? With another bounding run, she rushed to its doors.

Unlocked? Sweet.

Still, she lingered in the doorway as she sent a few more texts to the Zeroes' group chat.

[LIZZ@RD] said: "@Dasss can't be happy I'm bring myself?"

After all, she rarely tagged along in-person on these kinds of things.

[LIZZ@RD] said: "smh"
[LIZZ@RD] said: "ure so needy"

Then she ducked in and headed past the unstaffed reception desk. A short wall of open cubbies stood to obscure her view of the indoor track. One of the spaces was filled with a black duffle.

Yoink.

When she pulled it from its spot, its weight likewise tugged her to the floor. She caught herself by taking a knee.

'Chit outta here...

Unzipping the bag, she began to take out its contents and place them on the floor.

Chit! Yeah, I’m sorry, Kiv,” Das said, pouty-lipped. “I shoulda mentioned Rue before. She’s my roomie, I trust her. She’s a real gem, you’ll see!” Her holo pinged a few messages from Jrurki Liz Jrurki Liz just then - perfect timing! Das giggled, flashing the screen at Kivah Kivah so she didn’t have to check her own holo herself. “Case in point,” Das said smugly. But the grin didn’t last.

A distant siren wailed from a few blocks away, getting louder instead of quieter. Das frowned, considering what could bring an ambulance to Sakedo when it hit her. “Feth,” she said, turning to pull the door open. “Trauma Team! We gotta get inside.” Das slipped in and hunkered down behind the door, keeping it cracked just enough to peer through. Rue had to be close, and Das wouldn’t leave her out there to run into those Corpo bucket heads.

“Fryer burns are nasty business. Getting that oil on yourself could mean some pretty gnarly burns if you don’t treat them right away. Probably a good thing they have a pretty extensive medpack for this sort of thing.” Suerse responded, eyeing the doctor warily as she took the woman’s hand into her own, pulling it forward to start working on it. The movement stretched the wound out slightly, prompting a hiss of pain to escape the taller woman through clenched teeth. It was necessary, but kark, that hurt like hell.

With the doctor’s reassurance, the engineer watched as the spray began to do it’s work. It was still wet, though, and it looked like it might be old or expired. “Looks like we might have to-!” It took every piece of willpower running through her body to keep from jerking away when the doctor leaned down, beginning to softly blow on her open palm. Something about the action, the woman’s soft hand holding her own, and the feeling of her breath so close to her skin, sent shivers down the sapphic’s back. When her companion leaned up, Suerse prayed to whatever gods might be watching over her that her blush wasn’t too obvious.

Kark, she was looking up at her. What the blast was that smile, too?

Suerse pulled her hand back practically the second Tiz released it, barely taking a second to check on the work before letting it fall to her side. Swallowing, biting back the weird mix of emotions that flared up in her, “Right, I..” She shook her head, ripping her eyes up to look over the mall hallway in front of them. “I appreciate your help. Sorry for shoving a pistol in your face, earlier.” Her eyes returned down, shrugging her shoulders. “Can’t be too careful when doing things, being places we really shouldn’t.”

Sliding out from the back of the food stall, she started down the hall once again. Turning back to look over her shoulder, her chin rose in a nod down the direction she was walking. “Want to stick with me? I’m going down to the maintenance levels. There should be some storage units down there with some pretty nice stuff.” Flashing a grin in Tiz’s direction for the first time, she started headed toward where some of the maintenance entrances should be, not waiting to see if the doctor would follow along with her.

At Das' exclamation, Kivah twisted and shot through the gap in the door right behind her, twisting to crouch low on the stairs behind her. "Kark, what are they doing here? Quake was hours ago." The Cathar pressed beside Das to peer out the crack the slicer was holding open, one of her Z-14's in hand as her tail thrashed in agitation. Around her the biosuit rippled as it sensed her nerves, forming segmented ribbons of matt grey armor plating as the thing closed up around her head to form a protective helmet. Her mind raced through a hundred possibilities of what they could be doing here before her mind flashed to the comm message Das had shown her just seconds ago and she groaned. "Please tell me your roomie was just teasing and isn't a big enough airhead to just walk into a Trauma deployment."

Mentally she went through what she had, her two auto-blasters, and the various sundries on her gear webbing like a survival knife, a few security countermeasures, ion flares, privacy field, nothing really stood out other than maybe the grappling launcher and defender spray. Nothing she'd want to use in an open fire fight with Trauma Team. "Lets just let them pass and hope they don't notice us. They're here for a crashing exec or somebody, right?" Conventional wisdom said they were pretty focused on their extraction target and didn't care about anyone or anything else as long as they didn't feel threatened.

I nodded at the statement about fryer burns, though I had no concept of food preparation outside of asking Sparkle to grab something and bring it back to the shop, or asking her to whip something up using the Food synthesizer. Hot oil was another subject. That was something I knew all too well and could certainly sympathize with someone who managed a burn of that nature. Especially since I assume food cooks were not making what a droid builder was. Seemed like quite the risk with a small reward. I managed a look up at my patient so to speak and noticed there appeared to be distrust. That gave me a moment of nervousness before deciding the only way to get past that would be to push forward and show her that I meant only to heal as I had stated.

As the young woman hissed in pain, I froze for a moment. But I knew it was something that couldn’t be helped and I couldn’t really afford to hesitate too much or she might think that I’m lying about who I was, or that I was trying to make things worse. So I continued forward and finished the job.

Upon declaring the job done I noticed a pause from the woman as I released her hand and it quickly was withdrawn. Due to the fact that she didn’t have human coloring, my social naïvity, and the flickering light situation, any signs of what had caused the reaction was missed. And the now patched up woman shifted her attention to previous tasks. Namely the underlevels of the mall.

”Galaxy is a rough place,” I said with a nervous giggle trying to sluff off the mention of the blaster and try to seem more comfortable in this situation than I was. ”Need to take measures to be sure you’re safe. Right?” The woman’s eyes were now focused down on me and I could feel the heat in my cheeks as I tried to hold her gaze. I nodded and smiled as best I could. Probably seemed a bit awkward, but that was me.

As the woman slid out from behind the counter I sighed wistfully. I put the spray back in the medkit and collected it, attaching it to my belt. I was pretty sure it was obvious I wasn’t built whatever plans this woman had. I’d likely outlived my usefulness and she would move on. As she turned back and suggested we stick together my lips formed into a wide grin. When she smiled back I could feel my cheeks get even warmer and I looked down to the floor twisting my toe as if I could bore a way through the steel. ”I’d really enjoy coming along,” I answered looking up and seeing her continuing on her way.

I made sure that the medkit was secure on my hip and rushed to catch up to the young woman. ”Do I get to learn your name? Or do you like teasing your partners by being a strong, brooding, mystery?” I half teased, but she was mysterious and I could tell she was strong. Brooding was something I just threw in there cause I’d heard it used in flirtations on holovids.

It came to her in an instant soon after she left the gym, not as a voice, or a popup message, or a bit of code. It came as a feeling, a bit of internet understood by the computer in her head translated by the bionics coexisting with the circuitry in a terrible instinct that rose goosebumps all over her skin.

CorpSec was sending a Trauma Team to K-1.

She picked up into a desperate run. It wasn't all too long before the useless street elevators of Sakedo came into view. She stopped again and surveyed to her left and to her right. There were no flashing lights on the scene yet, but that was a matter of time—probably moments; she could hear them getting closer. If I was Das... she mused.

She spotted the patrolling Expos among a crowd of pedestrians.

I'd be right under someone's nose!

Jrurki broke right, stopped shortly, and beelined for the maintenance shaft when she swore she saw a slight movement within. As she came up to the cracked door Das and Kivah were behind, relief that she was right washed over Jrurki. "Shove over, stranger," she hissed to Das as the technomancer ducked into the hiding spot. As she did, she noticed its other occupant. A smile spread across Jrurki's face. "Strangersss. Hi. Jrurki." She offered a nice-to-meet-you nod rather than a handshake. Instead, she poked a thumb in Das' direction. "This one insists on callin' me Rue. You can too, if you wanna."

Das snickered, rolling her eyes. "I could call you Corpo bait. Did you magboot all the way here?" She knew that Jrurki Liz Jrurki Liz was used to a bit of banter, and Kivah Kivah was much the same. Speaking of...

"Rue's my roomie," Das explained. The poked a thumb to Kivah. "Rue, this is my friend, Kivah. We ran that med heist a few weeks back." She was just about to ask Kivah if VeriHealth ever publicized their losses when the not-so-distant Trauma shuttle's sirens finally arrived, backdropped by flashing lights and heavy boots on the wet duracrete. "Chit, we gotta go," she said, the jolt of panic in her gut pulsing through her arm as she instinctively pulled the door closed. With her slicer tool, she reset the maglocks. Her eyes looked between the pair of compatriots, and she cemented their commitment with a solemn nod, then turned to lead the way down into K-1. Every few flights, Das slowed her pace enough to listen for footsteps from overhead, moving only when she was satisfied that the Trama seccers hadn't followed them.

Her lungs burned, likely from holding her breath for most of the climb down. She let out an audible sigh when her feet hit the bottom of the stairwell. "Okay, let's go over the shopping list one last time," Das said with a weary smile. "I'm hunting for some chrome. Maybe a new tibanna condenser for my blaster, too," she added, patting the Night Sniper on her hip. "Naturally, any vertices you 'find,' the better."

"I'm her output." Kivah said cheekily by way of introducing herself to Jrurki while spinning her blaster around her trigger finger and catching it up by her smiling face. That had her helmet enclosing it. Whatever. In her mind's eye if it'd been a holo the pose was nailed for a close-up action girl shot and good cover for the sudden realization that Das had a roommate. She thought she knew her friend but this was basic stuff she was learning.

The arrival of another Trauma Team had her swearing in Cathar such that her momma would have twisted her ear like a kit's. "Feth I hope they don't have 'Hounds." She added as she followed Das down the stairs. Once down, she gave the darkened shopping arena a quick once-over to check out potential security, but the evacuation seemed to be trusting everything to the perimeter or those little shop grates. "I dunno, maybe see if they've go that ice cream with the little dots in it. Or ooh! I bet they have a Charmed Victoria! I could go for something plush." Now that was an idea, Kivah could use something nice and Sylvar knew she wasn't going to pay out retail price for designer labeling. "But yeah, chrome first." There were a few bits she was interested in, but doubted she'd find them here, not without putting in a custom order.

She was just about to go find a mall map when her sensitive ears caught onto lowered voices and the sound of hurrying footsteps from down the concourse. Grabbing Das, the Cathar used her size and bulk to roll them against the metal security gate across a storefront. Blaster still in hand and with her between Das and whoever was out there, she hoped that the inset and their dark clothes would be enough to hide them. And that whoever was there wasn't running thermals.

Suerse felt a bit of comfort knowing that Tiz was sticking around, at least for now. Traveling this space alone was her plan originally, but keeping a doc somewhere near them was a solid idea. At least if they got hurt again, they knew that they had someone that could help take care of them a little bit. Glancing down at her hand momentarily, she flexed it a few times. The bleeding had stopped, and most of the pain was dissipated. The doc did good work.

Her attention was pulled from her hand at the smaller woman’s teasing question, prompting her to let out a little laugh. “Teasing my partners is plenty fun, but I won’t keep you in suspense. You’ve been plenty enough help to earn that at least. Name’s Suerse.” She flashed a small grin toward Tiz, lifting her chin in a gesture of affection. “Appreciate it, again, by the way. Not many people would be willing to patch up the one that pointed a blaster at them.” Shrugging, her eyes returned forward, seemingly searching for something.

There had to be an elevator, or a staircase, or something that led to the lowest levels, where they stored all the product for when this place was only a few tens tall. If they could find that, it could be a treasure trove of old tech and tools. It would have to be connected to the concourse somehow so they could deliver the product up.

She was continuing to look until she heard the shuffling ahead. Blinking, focus entirely straight forward down the concourse. Her hand slowly reached down, grabbing Tiz by the wrist and pulling her to the side, practically depositing her behind a pillar. Once out of the way, that hand quickly shot down to her blaster, pulling it from it’s holster and leveling it down range. "Stay behind me.” Suerse whispered to Tiz, not even looking her way.

It was silent for a few moments, tense. Her whole body stood still, breath held, as she waited for the next sign that there might be someone else here. And then, it came. A rush of shuffling, metal pushing together not three stores down. What followed was a flurry of shots down the concourse, knowing that there was a solid chance that she wasn’t hitting a thing. At least she’d keep whatever was in front of her huddled down, hopefully.

“This isn’t a fight you want to get into!! Just come out, blaster or weapon in the air. Do that, and I won’t have my friends circle around you and blast you away.” A bluff. A blush she hoped would work, knowing that keeping both herself and Tiz safe would be tough against any number of assailants.

Even as she seemed ready to move on, the woman that I had joined up with continued to favor her hand. Or maybe she was just testing what the spray would do to the hand’s flexibility, or perhaps the movements were an attempt to shake any numbness the treatment had caused. Whatever the reason my mind was jolted away from her hand when she answered my question about her name. The fact that she called me her partner and would make the effort to tease me made me blush again. However I didn’t have much time to dwell on the burning in my cheeks before she relented and gave her name. Suerse

”Glad to meet you Suerse,” I said with a smile as we continued looking for a way deeper into the bowels of the tower. ”Most people I interact with are clients, and they spend a good deal of the time knocked out while I’m working on them. Been a while since I came to meet someone naturally.” I started to reply when she mentioned that she appreciated my help. ”I snuck up on you. Can’t say I blame you for pulling your blaster too much. I am glad that you asked questions before firing though. I’m pretty harmless.”

Was I rambling? I never seemed to know what to say. Should I have just shut up and kept going? She was looking to steal stuff after all and there was at least one trauma team in the tower. Quiet was probably better. I decided not to talk unless spoken, at least I would try. Nerves had a tendency to affect my ability to remain quiet. Sparkle says that I talk to myself all the time during difficult surgeries.

Again we were on the move. My eyes were mostly focused on Suerse, though they did shift to see if maybe I could see something she didn’t when I was sure she was looking for a way to continue her quest. Sounds from ahead had me look up at Suerse, but before I knew it she reached down and took my wrist. I fought off another blush realizing that there was potential for danger and I couldn’t get caught up in her holding onto me. Suddenly a pillar was between me and the sounds and I was quite happy about that. Suerse told me to stay behind her and all I could do was give a quick affirmative nod and resist the urge to literally be directly behind her, which I knew would put me in the way.

As Suerse looked down the corridor holding her blaster in the direction of the threat, I pressed my back against the pillar. Holding my breath I did my best to become one with the pillar and tightly closed my eyes when I saw Suerse’s trigger finger start to flex. My head bobbed following the sound of each shot. I imagined a stream of Corpos heading for us and as soon as the shots stopped my eyes popped open and looked to make sure that the path we had taken to this point was clear in case we needed to run.

”You have friends here?” I whispered my heart racing at the thought of being in the middle of anything more than what seemed like warning shots. The idea that someone would exaggerate their numbers in a fight like this never occurred to me. Hopefully whoever was coming at us was just as naïve. Though if it was a trauma team I doubted that.

"Feth!" Das yelped, diving instinctively behind a stack of crates. Her Night Sniper was in her hand and primed in a matter of seconds, held upright by her face as she peered around the corner. She was sure they'd beaten the Corpos inside, but there was always a chance their forces had slipped in quietly to assess the damage or simply bully the survivors in K-1. Her eyes strained in the dim light to see their assailants. "I can't- I don't know who they are," the teen said in a harsh whisper. Whoever they were, they didn't sound like CorpSec... Espos shoot first, sure, but they never ask questions or give the chance for surrender. "Can you see anything, Kiv?" Das asked, refusing to answer the voice or put her head out any further.

Her nose scrunched as the girls tries to assess their situation. It was Das' telltale sign of annoyance or frustration; they didn't have time for this, especially with the Trauma unit already overhead. "We're not Seccers!" Das shouted back down the silent concourse. "Not mercs, either. Not really. We just- we're here for a bit of groundquake shopping." She flashed Kivah Kivah a cheeky grin. "Think we could play nice? We saw some Corpos up top, you know. Real bad bunch. Trauma Team. We don't have to work together, but we could at least save the tibanna for the bad guys, right?"

Das shrugged, an exaggerated frown that said 'what?' smeared on her face. She'd seen Jrurki Liz Jrurki Liz tell worse lies to get outta situations that were twice as bad as this. Maybe Lady Luck would be on their side tonight.

Scattered, seemingly random shots splashed the walls around where Kivah had ducked, Das having found better cover in the seconds before the shooting started. "We already killed the Trauma Team!" She bellowed back as deep and loud as she could at the threat of being surrounded and returned fire with the drawn Z-14. A lie but hopefully they didn't have comms to each other. Or the relay was out? As confident as she'd sounded, her lie was probably already found out.

She gave Das a shrug as another bolt sent hot pieces of store facade scattering over her arm. Normally she wouldn't mind not shooting up every person they met, but this mall cop was really pissing her off. She squatted low and swung around the cover of the entrance providing her cover, Z-14 already spraying hot bolts down the corridor, lighting it up for the Cathar to see. Her eyes would have loved the darkened underground mall, but the combination of stark emergency lighting and bright bolts of blaster fire created spots of intense light and pools of dark that they couldn't adjust very well to. Instead she fired at the silhouette shooting at her and her friend, swinging the barrel of her chattering auto blaster around to it as her other came up in her left hand.

Kivah sprang to the side and rolled as her first pistol fell silent, flash hider glowing and oxidation smoking before her second filled the silence. Her fire was more measured now that she'd seen the threat in the glow of blaster fire. She came to a stop behind a cart selling comms, sunglasses, and other shiny junk as Das shouted out more reasonable dialog. "Really?! They are already shooting at us!" Kivah gestured between them all with her blaster/ "Fine, see if they want to play nice." Relenting, she jammed the spent blaster into the crook of her leg behind the knee to free up her hand to rip the spent blaster pack out and feed a new one into it. "How about it Espo? You wanna go home?"

The look that Suerse gave Tiz as she looked back at her when the question was posed should’ve been enough to answer the docs question. It wasn’t one of sarcasm or discontent, more of worry that her bluff wouldn’t be bought by the others in the hallway. She wasn’t sure she could fight anyone off whatsoever, especially if the others were any sort of sufficiently armed. Or had any sort of tech that she didn’t have access too.

It wasn’t long after her own speech that a hail of blaster fight rained down the hallway at their position. Before she had much of a chance to react at all, multiple bolts slammed into the concrete pillar in front of her, as well as a single bolt reaching it’s mark and nailing her in the shoulder. The Etti let out a pained his, slamming her way back around the pillar to put it entirely between herself and their assailants. Her hand shot up to her shoulder, attempting to put some sort of pressure on the smoldering, painful wound.

Through the pain, she registstered that one of the assailants was talking to her. At least, she assumed they were talking to them. Hopefully these people didn't have friends of their own anywhere in here. Regardless if they did, it was clear that Sue and Tiz were hopeless out of their depth here. Maybe if she didn't have the doctor here, she'd be more standoffish, but the guilt of getting the rainbow haired woman hurt out of her own pride seemed way too difficult to bear.

Instead, gritting her teeth in pain as she continued to hold onto her wound, she turned to the doctor, placing her blaster in the woman's lap. "If they look like they're about to kill me, try and take a few of them with you, at least." She flashed her a pained smile, grunting in annoyance as she stood to her full height, slowly easing her way around the pillar and into the open.

"Fine! Fine. I'm not dumb enough to keep going when you lot clearly have an advantage. I surrender." Placing her hand in the air, the one attached to the not so shot up shoulder, she awaited her fate and prayed that there was still some merciful deity watching over her. Or at least, watching over the terrified doctor behind her.

Exaggerating the assets at my disposal was not something that I did in my business. But when I asked about Suerse’s friends, the look she sent my way made me know there were no friends that were going to come and save us if whoever was out there started shooting back and had the numbers to overwhelm Suerse. I gave a bit of a whimper knowing that I would be of no use in a fight and hoped that the other side would back down believing Suerse’s, I think it is commonly called a bluff. A gambling term, too bad I don’t play cards. I would have a better idea if Suerse was good at bluffing.

Ultimately the thoughts were lost when blaster fire came towards us. I made myself as small as possible, pressed tightly to the post that I was using for cover. I closed my eyes as shrapnel from the pillar being hit filled the air. My eyes opened in terror when I heard Suerse cry out. Before I could react Suerse crashed into the pillar beside me holding her shoulder. I reached for the medpack, knowing there were things in there that would help the situation, but before I could actually do anything a blaster was plopped down in my lap. ”Y-y-you w-w-want m-m-me to what?” My nerves turned me back into the muttering idiot that I had been when the very same blaster was pointed in my face.

I could hear the voices of the other side of the confrontation, but I didn’t recognize a single word that was spoken. I held the blaster in what I hoped was the proper manner and tried my best to steady my hand. I didn’t know much about shooting, but I’d worked on security droids in the past and did know that a steady base was needed to do the job right. Whatever they were saying it seemed that Suerse. The smile she had given was forced, but somehow gave me a little comfort. Then she stood up and slowly stepped out from behind the pillar. Her words finally registered with me and I could see that she was giving up. I wasn’t very good at reading people, but surrender didn’t seem like her way. I suspected this course of action had something to do with my presence.

I was all alone now. ”Wait…Am I supposed to be surrendering too?” I hissed/whispered loud enough only for Suerse to hear. Of course I shouldn’t be surrendering. If that was the plan I wouldn’t have the blaster in my hands. I stood and shifted my body so that I could watch Suerse’s back. I did my best to keep out of the line of sight. ”Be careful…” I whispered again. ”I’ll look at your arm as soon as I can…”

Das squinted at the figure as she stepped into view, hearing the surrender and seeing one -rather than two- arms raised in surrender. “Chit, Kiv, I think you hit her. See her arm?” The teen watched for a moment longer, trying to ascertain what, if any, weapons Suerse Leli Suerse Leli was carrying. “What the feth are you doing down here shooting at people for?” Das called out in a lower register than her normal tone. She and Kivah Kivah still had the upper hand here. Unseen and armed.

If you’re not Corpos, then you’re just people. But you’re still here in K-1 when all the normies ran for shelter, so you’re probably looters,” Das said, spinning some hypocrisy on the term knowing damn well that’s exactly what she and her girls were, too. She paused a moment, then raised her head enough for half her face to be seen in the dim corridor lighting. Das nodded to the Etti’s arm. “You alright?

Sir?” an agent asked, warily searching for the ExO’s attention. Castor swiped away a meaningless alert from his holopad before glancing up to the man. “The ground team just reported shots fired in the sub-levels of Akira Tower. Unknown assailants exchanging fire, by the looks of it… no reports from other Trauma units of Akira security forces.” The agent swallowed hard, but the ExO seemed unconcerned.

Castor’s lips curled into a devilish smile. “Poor Artie,” he remarked, imagining her frustration and fear. Artemis played strong and stoic, unafraid of anyone or anything on Etti IV. Except for Castor Crane. She feared him, and for good reason. There was once a time when she resisted his quiet ascent to the head of the Board. She writhed like an insect caught in a web. She bit the hand that feeds. Now, though, she knew her place. “Direct the team into K-1,” Castor instructed. “Minimize casualties but eliminate any sign of criminal activity.

"Yeah that's the idea when people are shooting at you." Kivah rejoined at her friend as she carefully raised into a half crouch from behind the comm-seller's stand. Knees bent and on the balls of her feet, she stayed ready to move if their surrendered attacker tried anything sudden. "But they're not Espo, so why shoot at us?" She turned her observation into a question, none to soothing either with her blood still up from the quick action they'd just experienced.

Something was bugging her as she got ready to listen to why they shouldn't finish this gonk off when she realized what still had her on edge. She'd heard more than one person, she'd seen someone other than the shooter in the flashes of blaster light. This woman also hadn't tossed her blaster out before surrendering. Why not? It was either hidden or passed off to the girl that hadn't been shooting. Kivah slid to the side so she wasn't where she'd last been during the fight and aimed her weapons, one at Suerse and one at the wide pillar she'd been using as cover. "You come out too!" She called out in the voice she used to shout out over the screaming crowds during a fight. "Toss the blaster first this time." She looked back at the purple alien with a pleased smirk under her helmet to gauge her reaction. You had to try pretty hard to pull one over on her these days.

The rolling of her shoulder, in an attempt to alleviate some of the pain that was shooting through it, only managed to light the fire under it a bit more. It annoyed her. Warm blood trickeld down the side of her shoulder, running down her bicep. It hurt. But she couldn’t show anyone that it hurt. It was bad enough that this situation was now out of her control, she didn’t also need these two chuckle-karks knowing how out of it she was currently.

Blue eyes shot over to where the Cathar was moving around her, keeping her blaster leveled on the Etti while also starting toward the pillar. “Leave it!” She growled out, shooting a dagger filled gaze toward Kivah. Before she could respond, her voice cracked the open air again, snapping like a whip. “Tiz, come out. Throw the blaster between myself and this choom, then stand behind me.” Her eyes remained fixed on Kivah, knowing that the doctor would more than likely listen to her and do as she said.

Eventually, her gaze would look over toward the shorter of the pair. An eyebrow raised, looking her up and down with a disenchanted regard. She didn’t look like anything special, just another street kid. In some ways, she could relate. But in others, Sue was trying her best not to underestimate her as just some costume netrunner.

“We were alone down here, in a restricted area, and I knew there were trauma teams upstairs. I heard quite a lot of noise, especially from your friend over there,” she jerked her head toward Kivah before continuing, “and I felt the need to protect the doctor. Simple as that.” The Etti chewed the inside of her cheek, trying to choke down the venom that was riddled in the previous sentence. It was stress. She had been the one to shoot at both of them. It wasn’t exactly fair for her to be annoyed, even if she shoulder stung like hell.

A sigh pushed it’s was through her lips, annoyed still at her current prospects of getting anything out of tonight. “Shoulder hurts, but I thankfully have a pocket medic. As for what I’m doing down here…figured we could get down to the lower levels. Might find some neat old tech that’s been long lost. The storage centers down there could have some very neat stuff.” An unconscious shrug had her hissing in pain, more annoyed than anything at the movement. “And what are you two doing down here?”

I heard and saw enough to be able to wager that the duo were not Corpos. Especially when both of them commented that we didn’t seem like Corpos either. One of them seemed to even be a little concerned about Suerse’s injury. I almost gave a sigh of relief, but then the big Cathar seemed to focus a bit on me. Then she ordered me out. I backed completely out of sight and my back slid down the pillar until I was seated on my butt and trembling in a brief panic as I wondered what I should do.

I lifted my knees up towards my chest and rested the blaster on top of my knees. As it sat there I merely stared. The Cathar wanted the blaster. But would that put Suerse in danger? And they wanted me to come out too? That seemed like a bad idea. But having them charge me because I was not obeying their commands didn’t seem like a good situation either. Suerse called for me to follow the Cathar’s instructions. Including to throw the blaster between her and the Cathar. That didn’t seem very smart. I might not have ever shot a blaster before, but some idiots thought it was a good idea to replace a missing limb with a blaster. Easier to draw or some such nonsense. ”There’s a safety or power level here somewhere,” I stated to myself as I studied the construction of Suerse’s weapon. Finding a switch I guessed that since it was just fired flipping it in the opposite direction was probably the safest thing…I could hope at least.

Mustering all the bravery that I could I straightened out my legs and with the pillar as support stood back up. I could hear that conversations were still going on. Even heard Suerse mention she felt the need to protect me. The warmth on my cheeks grew tremendously which helped to disrupt the nerves caused by the possibility of dying momentarily. ”Ok…I’m coming out,” I said putting my hands out first with the blaster being held awkwardly in a position that made it obvious that I was not going to be firing.

I stepped out completely from the cover of the pillar and allowed them to look at me. Before taking any steps I knelt down and put the blaster on the ground. ”In the holos they always kick the blaster over when they’re caught. I hope that’s ok. Throwing and tossing seem a bit dangerous to me…” her words hung uncertainly in the air, but she didn’t wait for permission to be given instead pushing the pistol as hard as she could with her foot miraculously having it end up between Suerse and the Cathar.

Now unarmed and hoping that it was completely obvious I was no threat, I started to walk towards them with my hands up, palms out. My steps followed the path that I had kicked the blaster before veering to stand beside Suerse bending to get as good a look as possible at her wound. I saw the blood and hissed in discomfort. ”I have a medkit here. I’m trained…sorta…Please let me look at it. I know sh…we shot first. But it was a mix up. I swear we thought you were a trauma team.” I turned facing Suerse, but didn’t move any closer until the others gave the ok. ”Fraid this one is going to take more than a bit of bacta spray. I have the right tools if they’ll let me,” I said to Suerse forcing a smile and blushing remembering that it was quite possible that she was hurt because of me.
