Brotherhood Without Banners (Alliance-in-Exile + ORC)

Coren smiled. An actual smile, maybe one of the first since Coruscant that wasn’t brought on by [member="Romi Jade"]. The world was a dangerous place now, and the galaxy seemed a bit darker, but with the Alliance here? He knew they could keep it going. What he needed now was to get the men and women’s morale up. And with Pryce? That was going to be easy. Returning the salute, Starchaser nodded.

“Don’t let the military down.” He was once Imperial military himself, being able to act more military than Jedi was something he could do, but he wasn’t going to stop wearing his saber. That was when he looked around again. [member="Jaius Sovv"] and [member="Dracken Pryce"] were here, and he saw the others.

The Jedi @Cotan Sar’andor, who he hadn’t quite gotten the name of, but was helping him and [member="Mishel Noren"] against the Sith. He gave the man a wave before looking around. Seeing [member="Julius Sedaire"] and hearing [member="Rekha Kaarde"] arrive, he grinned. What he was interested in was if the Shattered Order meeting was over yet. Once they arrived, he had a few things to say.

“Chief, we are getting some fresh arrivals, if you don’t mind, sir…?” Coren asked as he saluted, making his way towards the Jedi. Rekha was being greeted by [member="Alexandra Russo Porte"], and he’d get to them in a minute, but he instead came up and gave a slap to Julius’s back.

“Good to see you out and about, we’re gonna need you.” He grinned and nodded to Cotan. “Welcome… Cotan, isn’t it? And Veino! Good to see you again. Has Susevfi transferred into Coalition management well?"

[member="Veino Garn"]

Rekha smiled back at the woman, "its a fact, hi I'm Rekha you are?" [member="Alexandra Russo Porte"]

Rekha didn't have too many female friends, there were a few but not ones that stuck by her. Most of the ones who did were men for some odd reason. But she didn't hold it against them they had their thing to do and she had hers.

"I'll buy you whatever you want and we can talk..you can tell me...where you are from and what your most embarassing moment has been to this moment. Is that a deal?"

She was an odd duck but she was a friendly odd duck, she tilted her head she thought she heard that flyboy [member="Coren Starchaser"] finally show up.

"Hi, it's very nice to meet you, Rekha," Alex smiled back at the other brunette. "I'm Alexandra Russo... Porte," she kinda rapidly slid that last part of her surname in a couple of ticks after the first. "Forgive me... I recently got married and sometimes forget who I am now!"

A soft chuckle escaped her lips with a shake of her dark head in mock shame. Seriously... the new bride was still figuring out to keep or not to keep her last name, dash or not dash his?!

The cantina was beginning to fill quickly now as people started making their way from different parts of the base into the prime recreation spot. There was a good feeling in the air despite the reason behind why they were all there in the first place.

"Ha! Sounds like a deal though visa versa," the Taanabian winked, then motioned with her hand to a table not too far away from where the Chief of State was sitting with some other Alliance personnel; one was definitely military and the other was a Jedi from his bearing... She could spot one a mile away now.

Oh how Alexandra missed her Jedi husband. She felt a pang in her chest as wistful yet still hopeful thoughts of [member="Kahne Porte"] filled her mind. The Ambassador though quickly pushed the musings away and concentrated on the here and now and not on the what if.

Alexandra pulled out a chair and sat down at the table, then waved over the waitress milling around.

"Well, I'm a farm girl from Taanab, and the most embarrassing moment, hmm.... Would have to be during my time as a cadet at the Republic Academy. After my towel and flight suit went mysteriously missing from the hook outside my shower stall in the barracks fresher, I had to walk back to my quarters naked and dripping wet. Pilot pranks are the worst, but I got those fighter jockeys back real good," Alleycat grinned, then looked up at the Twi'lek serving them.

Gods that was a long time ago.... Where does the time go?

"I'll have a whiskey neat and an ale back please," she nodded, then waited until Rekha ordered her drink. "And you?"

with [member="Alexandra Russo Porte"]

Rekha laughed, "Oh newly weds....well congratulations, we will drink to that too" Rekha pat the bar gently to say hi and here we are. She knew that loud customers were aggravating. Patient ones we ok, but you needed to be middle of the road so that they didn't forget and you didn't die of thirst.

"That's pretty good, I'm Rekha Kaarde from Kelada." She motioned for the drink, "I'll have the same." She looked at Alex, "its easier on the bartender when its same things." Her most embarrassing moment.

She had to think what was the MOST embarrassing moment, "man I've had so many, told I guy who liked me that I thought he liked guys, that wasn't too bad. Did the Coruscant strut once in a outfit made of red feathers that was too bad either, once showed my yoda undies because I forgot to zip my pants, kissed a guy who wanted to be my brother, kissed a girl who had been kissing everyone, hmmm....most embarassing...flashed a guy running at me with a blaster ready to fire and what did he do he stopped and began laughing saying, "that's all you got!!!" She nodded, "yeah that was embarrassing." She looked at Alex.

"I've never forgotten that." She laughed then, "here's to good memories" She lifted the glass, "OH and many happy years on your marriage" Rekha would likely never marry the special snow flake that she was, besides the guys she liked never liked her back they always said you're a good friend god that friend corner was lonely. feth she said under her breath.

"So where is the hubby?"

"Thanks, Rekha! We kinda did it backwards, had the kids first, then got married. But, it's all good as long as you love each other. That's all that matters at the end of the day."
Alexandra's brandy brown eyes widened wth shock and awe as Rekha's tales of embarrassing grandeur poured out. She laughed with her at those antics.

"You certainly have experienced some great moments," the brunette nodded, then picked up the shot of whiskey that had been dropped off.

"Yes to the good memories, new and old friends, here with us and not, and many anniversaries indeed!"

Force willing, Alex mused herself as she raised the glass of dark amber liquid, then tipped it back like an old pro to let the rich flavored spirit warm her insides up. The down side is the new mother had not drank hard liquor in a while so it did burn quite a bit and pack a wallop.

As the glass came down onto the table, the question of where [member="Kahne Porte"] was came up.

"Kahne is a Jedi and was on Lothal when the First Order attacked the temple there. I... " the Taanabian bit her lip to keep the well of raw emotions she was feeling in check, then continued after a moment. "I haven't heard from him as of yet, but I have hope he is alive and well, just busy with his work is all."

A sip of the ale was taken, then she sat back a bit in the chair as the whiskey made her relax some. "So what's your story if I may ask, and connection with the Alliance?"

[member="Alexandra Russo Porte"]

Rekha listened and nodded, "Sounds like to me Alexandra that you are in the wrong place. You need to somewhere near Lothal looking for [member="Kahne Porte"] . Cause you know Jedi for all their hand saving mind altering gifts sometimes they need to know which way to go. Maybe the force says you need to go. there." She lifted her drink and took another draw.

Who was she to give that kind of advice? Was it advice? Nah just logic on her part, well the way she thought.

"My story..."

She took another drink, "Well I was born on Kelada, did a bad thing got put on board a smugglers ship to pay a debt, it ended up going real bad. Me and another kid eventually escaped, I found some friends, friends got killed, Sith came to Coruscant lost the only home I had, made a some new friends, Dekkan primary...got away in my ewok slippers and pajamas if you can imagine that. Worked my up from waitress to cook, Dekkan introduced me to Sio and HK, they backed me a bar on Bespin. Bespin got raided by the First Order...had to leave...then Coruscant was freed I went back built a bar called the Lucky lady...the sith came back..." She smiled, "And now I am here. While doing all those things I met a few folks that you see running around here, like [member="Coren Starchaser"] , [member="Veino Garn"] , and the old man Jorus. " She took another drink.

"I'm beginning to think the Sith don't like me. What do you think?" She smiled she always tried to smile frowning just wouldn't do..

[member="Jaius Sovv"] | [member="Alexandra Russo Porte"] | [member="Rekha Kaarde"] | [member="Coren Starchaser"] | [member="Veino Garn"]

He smiled as his old friend sat, and for a moment he didn't feel that hollow ache in his chest that made him hate waking up. When he was first starting to make a name for himself, Veino had vouched for him and stood by him, lending his own reputation to help the young Corellian. Something like that you never forgot as you aged. At least Julius didn't. While he wasn't as old as Veino, or had aged more gracefully... Or fierfek, maybe he had never really grown up and they were the same age, he didn't remember... Whatever the case may be, Julius still had more than enough rocket fuel in his blood, and still seemed to find his way to the front of the fray.

"I am doing better, old friend. And it is just like our youths. Now I just need a pretty lass on my lap and to have some old Master lecturing me about how a Jedi Knight behaves properly. [member="Coren Starchaser"], would you like to try and lecture me, sir?"

The tone was still flat and dead, but the volume emphasis and his own Force-aura carried the mirth marginally well enough. He was jesting, teasing his friend over being in responsibility now. To Jaius, though, there was a deep nod of respect and a salute with the glass in his hand. Would be nice if it were whiskey, but he knew better.

Kavisa strode into the cantina on D'Qar. His eyes were wide with amazement but quickly frowned with scrutiny as he surveyed the room. The orange Twi'lek had earned his place here, the location kept on the downlow and only known to those the Alliance could trust. He had earn't that trust in blood.

The middle-aged soldier and former slave walked towards the bar, his makeshift armor clanking as he moved. He wore the Galactic Alliance Scouts uniform, with what appeared to be a pair of shocktroopers pouldrons, scavenged from the dead. The breastplate he wore was a plate of scrap metal pocketed by blaster rounds. He was as ragged as they came.

His lekku twitched and slithered over his shoulder, curling around his neck in a serpentine fashion and an obvious indicator to other Twi'leks that the man was nervous to be here. The human equivalent of folding ones arms in a subconscious act of protecting oneself.

Kavisa reached the bar and sat down on a stool, glancing over one shoulder then the other. He didn't know anyone here and the reason pained him. He had only earned his trust after he lost his squad. Sole survivor deal. He knew many soldiers were these days, especially after the collapse of the Alliance. He ordered a bitterfruit drink and washed that memory away and put on a smile.

Alexandra stared down into the ale in her hands, then those brandy browns raised to look over at [member="Rekha Kaarde"] with a nod.

"I so wanted to go looking for my husband initially, but my duty is to our family and the Alliance just as his is to the Force and helping others. I'm hopeful when the time is right, we shall be reunited. As it was I took care of the children first, made sure they were safely out of harms way, then began back channeling my diplomatic contacts to aide our efforts. I have some good news to share with Chief [member="Jaius Sovv"], but... " she peered over in the Sullustan's direction, whom seemed a bit intoxicated already. "I think he's a bit preoccupied at this time so it can wait I suppose."

The elder statesman of the Alliance probably needed this little reprieve as much as any of them to process what had just happened.

"A female entrepreneur.... I applaud you for your initiative and perseverance despite the set backs, Rekha, the brunette smiled with sincerity, then added with a little levity. "Who knows though, maybe as a seemingly 'Sith magnet' we can use that to our advantage somehow, hmm?" she grinned before taking another sip of the frothy amber liquid in the mug in hand.

The cantina continued to fill in with more and more personnel, most though Alleycat didn't know from her time with Rogue Squadron of old. It was good though to see how many had rallied after the fall of the once mighty Galactic Alliance. There was much work ahead of them to take the fight back to the Sith Empire and First Order. Would they be able to do it? There was always hope, and it started with those gathered.

[member="Alexandra Russo Porte"]

"Yeah" she grinned, "Just stick me on a planet of your choice and watch em arrive in droves." Yeah..she thought that's a title I need 'sith magnet' there were so many others that were endearing, lovely sweet, but no sith magnet.

"Course if it got us some pay back, sith magnet might work..maybe we should advertise see who shows up." Yeah sith showing up and then BOOM!!! yeah she could do that too. She looked over, she didn't know Jaius but she had heard of him.

She smiled, "Well Alexandra if you want to go I got the ship I'd take you...and kids...how many?" Kids something she would never know about having. She felt bad about it but..feth stuff happens. But she was at least happy for those who could have them.

"Good work Lieutenant," Rayf nodded in appreciation while [member="Ava Cartwright"] caught him up on her whereabouts, "Its...its good to see you too. I haven't seen any of the others since Fondor."

Commander Vigil hadn't spent a lot of time dwelling on their sudden reversal in fortune. He was trying very hard not to start now.

"My bird's navigational systems were damaged during the jump out," he started to explain his absence, feeling it was only fair, "I missed the rendezvous, but R9 managed to repair her out in the field and we linked up with the Hereafter near Elrood. Its been nothing but combat patrols ever since."

In truth, Rogue Leader hadn't even known if the Starchild had made it out in one piece until he had been assigning to escort her resupply. But she was one of his pilots, maybe the only one left, and he believed that Cartwright needed stoicism from him now, not a superior officer overwhelmed by grief. So he did what he always did, and laughed it off.

"I guess that makes you my acting XO now, doesn't it?" Rayf slapped her reassuringly on the shoulder, a twinkle in his eye, "The others will turn up. Its easy to get lost out there in the black, but they're all tough kids. Rogues know how to take care of themselves, never forget that Lieutenant Commander Cartwright."

Ava listened to [member="Rayf Vigil"] tell his story of how the Commander finally got to D'Qar. She had been lucky that the ANS Starchild had made it out under its own power from the Battle of Fondor, and that her own damaged X-wing could still land in the Colony-class battlecruiser's hangar; the one that wasn't shot to hell by the rogue Y-wing attack.

"Thank the Force for our little dome friends, hmm?" Goldie smiled.

Her own R9 unit, Squeak, had sure earned the oil bath he received. Rogue Five would be lost without the astromech droid that had grown on her as a partner in crime and true companion.

What Commander Vigil did next though left the normally talkative Ralltiiri speechless. He not only made her acting XO, but also promoted Goldilocks to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. The look on the blonde's face was of total shock,

"Erm... Um, Thank you, sir.... I am honored, and won't let you down," Ava finally got out with a confident yet humble tone, then she was all grins.

"Well now, this calls for a drink or ten!" she giggled, then pulled along the older pilot towards the base cantina where most everyone was heading to anyways.

As soon as the two Rogues entered the Starbird, Goldie walked up to the bar counter near where [member="Kavisa"] was sitting on a bar stool and waved down the bartender.

"Two whiskey's, please," Ava said jovially, then added with a lopsided grin. "Oh hell...Why not make it a round of drinks for the house. I just got a promotion!"

Those in cantina: [member="Coren Starchaser"] [member="Rekha Kaarde"] [member="Alexandra Russo Porte"] [member="Julius Sedaire"] [member="Jaius Sovv"] [member="Dracken Pryce"] [member="Veino Garn"] [member="Ursula Vizla"] [member="Cotan Sar'andor"] +any others

A round of drinks went around and another round of drinks. He heard somewhere over the sudden cacophony of drunken so;doers that Ava had made it to the bar and was actually the sponsor of the new drink he was holding. She also was getting a promotion it seemed, though without a true government to pay her she seemed awfully ready to give up those sweet sweet credits for booze...Not that he was complaining. He was three drinks in now and he felt like he should be not this wobbly. He remembered his academy days where he and his friends would down a bottle each of Corellian whiskey watching the docks after a rough day, but now he felt like he was ready to sleep from just these three.

But something told him he needed to find Ava and congratumalate her. The tips of his ears were starting to turn red and he felt the heat rushing to his face, but he eventually found her and tapped her on the shoulder, somehow now holding a 5th and 6th drink. Double fisting, classy.

Jaius had nodded at Coren when he requested leave to go mingle with his new troops, curling his dewflaps up into a pleasant smile. He nursed the Sullustan gin Starchaser had bought him, a subtle irony in light of the fact that the Chief of State was almost certain he was drinking his own donated personal reserve. They would have to learn to tighten their boots, this Alliance-in-Exile, now that they could no longer rely on the backing of wealthy Core and Mid Rim worlds.

Sullust would continue to support their cause behind closed doors for as long as they were able to remain independent, Chief Sovv knew that much, but where just a few weeks ago they had been the wardens of the galaxy now his people were on the run, fighting for their very survival. Soon the memorial would begin, but in this rare moment among the company of those who believed in the same dream of a far off New Alliance, he felt moved to recognize that brotherhood here and now.

"Ladies and gentleman..." he said, voice drowned out by the conversations around him, "I would like to say a few words."

No one heard him, save the grizzled marine gunner sergeant who was currently tending bar. He let out a whistle and a holler that caught everyone's attention, and the Starbird Cantina was momentarily stunned into silence.

"I won't keep you long," he started apologetically, graciously accepting an offer by the same gunnery sergeant to be assisted up onto the bar where his tiny withered frame could be seen by everyone, "Very soon now we will hold a memorial ceremony up on the surface for those...for those we've lost. We will honor of the fallen, speaking of their courage, their resolve...their sacrifice."

"But here and now," Jaius raised his voice louder than one would have expected the old politician was capable of, "I would like to make a toast. To those who survived. To you, and to others like you, rebels who understand that there can be no surrender to the machinations of tyrants and evil men. And that the Alliance will never truly die as long as its ideals survive in each of our hearts."

"There is an old Corellian saying, perhaps some of you know it. When you can't fight, you run. When you can't run, you crawl. And when you can't crawl, you find someone to carry you. Thank you. I will see you all at the memorial."

Up above the subterranean base, already some Alliance personnel were beginning to gather on the airfield. Normally secret was paramount here, but just this once special dispensation had been granted for everyone to gather above. A funeral pyre had already been set up, and when enough arrived they would begin to burn an empty suit of Galactic Alliance shock trooper armor in symbolic effigy for all those lost whose bodies could not be recovered for proper last rites according to their customs.

The newly minted Lieutenant Commander took the poured whiskey, clinked the glass against [member="Rayf Vigil"]'s, then tossed the dark amber liquid back. Oh did it burn, but the familiar warm sensation it created in the pit of her stomach was comforting. She motioned for the barkeep to pour another, then downed that one too.

The tall blonde was all smiles after that; feeling the weariness of before slipping away and a new fortitude coming to be as the alcohol circulated throughout her body.

A tap on her shoulder made the Rogue turn to see who wanted her attention, and it was none other than [member="Dracken Pryce"]. Two pairs of blue eyes met... This was a side of the ever dutiful ship captain Ava had never seen before. The man was seemingly relaxed for once... not even sucking his teeth as their gazes stayed engaged longer than their usual professional time allowed. He was sure cute with a buzz on; those red tipped ears and flushed cheeks a dead giveaway.

"Hey Captain... Oh thanks! I was in need of a chaser," Goldie grinned at the dark-haired Corellian, then she grabbed the fuller of the two drinks in his hands; a rather foamy ale, taking a hearty sip.

Moments later a whistle from the bartender garnered the crowd's attention, then the diminutive Chief of State [member="Jaius Sovv"] was lifted up atop the bar counter. The elder Sullustan gave a short yet meaningful speech, then offered a toast to those of them that had survived. Yes, they had barely. Ava raised her glass, then took another sip of the amber spirit. Now would be the hardest part... memorializing those amongst them lost.

The jovial expressions of before had eased as the pilot's mind went to her wingman, brother-in-arms, but more so friend, who had sacrificed his life for hers at Fondor.

It should be Dagger standing here, celebrating, not me...

"Shall we go up top then?" the Ralltiiri said in general, then she set the half-drank mug of ale down on a nearby table and began to walk towards the cantina's exit.

There was so much going on, with the way the things were happening. But for now? Coren was understanding what he was doing. He was letting a few others lead the meeting with the Shattered Order, and they would fill him in. Hell, he trusted Chevu with his life on more than one occasion. She knew how he thought, and how he’d respond to many things, especially when it came to matters of state. He turned from Pryce and the other gathered, Sedaire, Cotan, and Kaarde and regarded the Chief of State for a moment.

“Not going to be getting in your lap, old friend.” He laughed before turning back to the Chief.

A speech. The memorial, most of the reason they were here today.

Those left behind, those who made the ultimate sacrifice. One he was willing to have made but didn’t quite happen for him. The Force had alternative plans, it seemed. And here he was. Reaching out to the other Jedi in the base, the Watchman was pulling their minds towards the surface, reaching to [member="Allyson Locke"], [member="Jyoti Nooran"], [member="Romi Jade"], [member="Cambria Zadira"] and [member="Kahne Porte"]. The other Jedi, and Forcers, like [member="Julius Sedaire"], @Cotan Sar’andor and [member="Veino Garn"] were present.

“To the Alliance!” Coren bellowed out, at the end of [member="Jaius Sovv"]’s speech. “We’ll save the dream.” He raised his glass and downed it in one go.

Nothing was going to keep them down.

The cheering and happiness that had so rarely occurred as of late was both happy and somber for Cato. Had he not been celebrating with allies, friends. Nay, family, he would be contemplating the domination of the Sith with pessimism. But the gathering of forces here brought hope to him, and the great roar of applause after the Chief of State's speech was as good a morale booster as any.

Looking around the room, he saw many familiar faces. Despite how much they had been through, there was still a fight for a while in sight. Downing his drink with the others, Cato approached one of the people he had looked up to for a while.

"[member="Coren Starchaser"], is it? I'm Cato Marek, it's good to see you here. I don't know if we ever met properly."

The words continued as Kahne listened vigilantly as the gathered Jedi spoke their minds and the Jedi Master nodded and then respectfully disagreed with some parts. A mental nudge through the force could be felt as it brought a small smile to his face. Their leader and commander [member="Coren Starchaser"]

"To those we've lost...." Kahne spoke just above a whisper, and he took a deep breath just as their was a messenger that had arrived, signifying that the funeral pyre was almost ready and the memorial service would be commencing sometime soon.

"My friends, I recommend that we wrap this up, there isn't anything we will be able to accomplish today. We can attend the service, get some rest and reconvene at Master Starchaser's request."

[member="Allyson Locke"] [member="Romi Jade"] [member="Jyoti Nooran"] [member="Cambria Zadira"] [member="Jaius Sovv"]

"Good memory," Cotan replied to Coren, before the Jedi's attention was quickly stolen away by all the others around. Cotan just shrugged, and started sipping from the Corellian Ale he'd gotten from the bartender. It wasn't long before the crowd around the little group started to grow larger and larger, with Cotan feeling more and more an outsider. After all, he'd been away from the NJO for multiple years, and the same with the GA—he doubted he was even particularly well known in the ORC, by this point. Being in the middle of such a large group as this was somewhat odd for him.

It wasn't long before the chatter was cut by Jaius's short toast, ignoring the mildly-comical sight of the buzzed Sullustan being lifted up onto the bar. He raised his glass along with the toast, before downing it (rather, the refill of it, thanks to Ava entering the bar) in a single large gulp. He set the glass back at the bar, nodding at the bartender, before walking up to Coren and grabbing him by the shoulder—and giving a somewhat apologetic nod to Cato, for interrupting.

"Good to see you eventually made it back into civilized lands, Coren," he said, by way of a proper greeting to the man. "Try and find me after the memorial, if you can—I feel that after Coruscant it might be good to get properly acquainted. But for now, I'll let you reap the fruits of your popularity." He clapped the older man on the back, giving Cato another short nod, before he turned around and started to walk back through the cantina. Ultimately, the goal was to make it topside for the memorial, but given the commotion, he wouldn't be too surprised if he got waylaid before he reached the door.

"Thank you for the offer, [member="Rekha Kaarde"]... Two, twins - a boy and girl. We'll see if drastic measures need to be taken. I have a feeling though my husband will just show up when I'm least expecting it. He tends to do that," Alex said with a chuckling shake of her dark head before taking another sip of ale.
A loud whistle from the bartender got everyone's attention, then the small in stature Chief of State was lifted up onto the bar counter. Priceless, the brunette thought with quiet amusement. [member="Jaius Sovv"]'s speech was heartfelt and struck the right tone, then [member="Coren Starchaser"] followed up with a rallying one of his own.

Alexandra raised her glass to the toasts, then finished off what was left of amber liquid. They had been dismissed to attend the memorial ceremony on the surface that was to be held for those lost during the Endgame.

As the crowd from the cantina ventured out from below the base to where the funeral pyre had been assembled, Alexandra willed her mind not to go there... Her beloved wasn't among those that would be memorized today. No, deep down the Taanabian knew [member="Kahne Porte"] was still alive... and near? Brandy brown orbs looked around in the group gathered for her tall, dark, and handsome Naboo...
