OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The CA7 is a short range turbolaser designed to be mounted on smaller vessels (large freighter to frigate). Over eight seconds each turbolaser expels the power commensurate with four typical turbolasers, but charges capacitors over six seconds to discharge this in a rapid stream over two seconds. It is most effective when used against other smaller vessels and heavy bombers. Larger vessels could mount this weapon. However this is generally considered inefficient as they rarely close on their targets to very short range and whilst this is capable of tracking large fighters it is less efficient than alternatives such as quad-laser turrets.
A vessel sporting this weapon will typically close to short range and fire precisely targeted bursts at key enemy systems. Such a rapid barrage targeting a single location is often capable of overwhelming the shields of smaller vessels and causing direct damage to targeted systems. However most heavy cruisers are capable of soaking up the burst damage and redistributing shield intensity before the next burst. Concentrated fire from a number of these turbolasers could pose a threat to a heavy cruiser, but is considered inefficient compared to wearing down shields with a constant stream of turbolaser fire and finishing the job with ordnance.
In a typical configuration can be exchanged for 5 typical turbolasers.

Strengths:
- Burst fire mode does exceptionally high damage within its window
- Significant threat to heavy bombers to light frigates at close range
- Precise targeting of external enemy systems (engines/weapons/shield generators)
- Shorter range than a typical turbolaser
- Stutterfire Ability has limited effectiveness against large frigates and larger ships, because of the longer cycle time.
- Struggles to targetagile strike craft.
