[member="Matsu Ike"] Old thread, but I wanted to add my two cents as I'm looking to do Shadow stuff right now in light of TSO going crazy in Silver Space again.
Reforms are nice, but what will help is better screening of members, and more vigilant oversight. As far as I can tell, the Shadows of the past were pretty much left alone to do their own thing.
I believe we should rethink what a Shadow is, as we roleplay in an era where the Sith run around in the open and probably outnumber us. I like to think ofthe Shadows as an elite group of Jedi who are especially skilled at combating Sith and other hostile FU. So this opens up the group to all kinds of folks whether they're more of a frontline guardian type, or more techy folks who do research and develop equipment and countermeasures in the back. So, basically we become:
I'm actually not bothered by more neutral or rogue members being part of the Shadows. I believe they can actually help us as they may have a better understanding of what makes a Dark Sider tick as opposed to Jedi types who have never strayed from the Light Side. Having former Dark Siders in the group would also be a benefit.
Also, to drum up activity for the group, it would be nice if Silver Shadows would be allowed to go out and tango with Sith and other baddies in PvP events (with coordination). I see Sith plotting all the time, and some of them would be happy to have some opposition. It would also be nice just going on the offensive, even if it's in a limited capacity. OOCily, it can also help us build a rapport to ensure more friendly relations between writers.
