Canon artifacts

Somewhere in this site I know there is a list of who currently owns what. I want to begin a long path of collecting artifacts of all kinds, but how do I respectfully go about that? Is there ways I can Rp finding who holds what, PM them and see if they will be ok if I try to steal them? I am spit balling here right now.

[member="Lord Sabastian"] it depends on the artifact and person. First step would be pming them and seeing about it. Get them involved and ask how they found it. Then ic investigations and finding where they had gone to find the artifact, then finding a way to find who found it and going from there
