Canon Family Descendents

So, I was wondering. In the Character Creation section, it says, "No creating Canon characters." However, would it be okay to create my own character related to a canon character? (ie. Michael Skywalker)

I know there are some Solos and Fels around here, but I'm not sure about the Skywalker. But as far as doing it is concerned, you're fine.

Since it's several centuries beyond the latest point in the Star Wars canon or Legends storyline, math is on your side in justifying this much in the same way as many people in Europe can claim lineage to Charlemagne.

In addition, it's so far ahead of the Star Wars storyline that anyone could claim to be the descendant of a canon character and it could never really be proven or disproven in-character.

As far as I'm aware, some people just borrow the surnames of canon Star Wars characters without any acknowledgement. I know canon names are popular (and allowed) with the Mandalorians, however with bigger names the line becomes a bit more obscure. If having a Skywalker isn't banned, it's at least frowned upon.

What they all say is correct - since we're a full 20 generations on from the movies and about 15 from legacy, there could be literally millions of descendants.

Remember, every US President except 1 is descended from King John of England...and that's only 800 years.

Remember, be original and don't use canon names unless they are Mandalorian names such as Ordo, etc.

However, as you can see it's not vigorously enforced. So if you want to have a Skywalker name it's discouraged but allowed. Just know it grants you no special powers, items or skills.
