Captain's Choice is, ostensibly, a manufacturing firm with its fingers in the production of starships, vehicles, weapons, clothing, and other forms of common equipment and supplies. Captain's Choice handles both bulk productions and altered special requests of their products, with an emphasis on durable-yet-affordable designs that are easy to maintain and modify. Of course, that close to the Rim these types of products tend to appeal to a very specific clientele, and the Captain's Choice legal department is perhaps one of the hardest working in the galaxy. Rumors abound as to how the company got its start, ranging from it being founded by a smuggling baron gone semi-straight, to being won from a previous owner in a game of Sabacc and renamed. Whatever the case may be, Captain's Choice has maintained its reputation for both high value, low costs, and lower ethics.

While the exact origins of Captain's Choice are shrouded in legal mystery, the company has existed continuously for decades as a premier provider of equipment to those living on the fringes of the galaxy. The company has had its hands in various legal and less-than-legal enterprises over the years, and has cycled through several different management teams, although the core tenants and products of the company have rarely changed. It seems no one wants to kill the golden convor, and as such the Captain's Choice has proven to be a shockingly stable force in Rimward economics and a fairly common sight across the fringes of the galaxy.
