Cause You all secretly have been waiting for an op to Hate on James

The title is pretty much self-explanatory. :D Feel free to critique everyone's favorite criminal. ((Or least favorite, depending on who's side your on I guess).

Tell me what you:
-Love
-Hate
-Think could be done better
-Think is over done
-Think is underdone
-Think could be done better

Whether you think his emotions are over-the top and melodramatic (Like the time he got Buzz Lightyear drunk and went off on the world), you think his vices are too many, or find his cause stupid and believable, tell me what you think of "space Robin hood" here.

All feed back is welcome, however please don't just say "I like him" or "I hate him." If you want to give a character analysis, please give input as to why; e.g: you hate him because you feel that his reason for being a flirt is unbelievable OR you feel that his vice of smoking and addictive personality is unrealistic because of actual reasons.

Thank you and have a cookie.

I am new here so I haven't really gotten to see much of him, but what I have seen so far has been good. He is very charming in the way you write him, which is good since you do include that in his bio of strengths and weaknesses. On that same subject he is also done well in his weakness for booze and cigarettes as well as his fondness for women. In the two RPs that Gray has been in with James, everything has been very clearly and naturally done from who he is in the bio. You get a real sense of this guy being real rather than a character someone is playing, which is a real plus in my opinion since charismatic/charming rogues are actually harder for people to play over extended periods of time.

I have gotten real senses of development from him as well from everything I have seen. His interactions with his daughters feels very natural for a guy who wants to make things right, but doesn't really know how or if he can. It is also clear how much he regrets missing out on their lives, even when it isn't directly stated.

Overall, I would say you have made a very good and balanced character. And all of it is just topped off by your choice of avatar images. Who doesn't love the Doctor? All of this is my opinion though, so take it how you will! I look forward to seeing more of you, even if James is likely to kill Gray right now in one of the threads.

EDIT: I forgot to mention you at first. Silly me.

I'd write something out here, but it'd likely over-inflate that ego of yours, which needs no help from me. You're my favorite writer to write with on here for a reason! :-D

Keep doing (HOLY KARK TERRIBLE PUN INCOMING!!!) your character justice my friend. (OH GOD EVEN I CRINGED!!) I look forward to where he ends up going.

His pull-out game is weak +1

EDIT: Sorry, didnt see you wanted longer responses and I had to be a snarky little chit

Havent written with you, but would certainly be up for it. You get a lot of attention, and I remember you got Member of the Month in December, so you must be doing something right. If you ever wanna write, hit me up :)

You're writing what can be a trite archetype, which is the anti-hero. In literature, especially in recent years, there's no shortage of those characters -- from Wolverine to James Bond to Huckelberry Finn. But you do an excellent job with the portrayal, even while staying true to the traits of the stereotype. More simply put, you do an excellent job writing an antihero.

You do great development with him, and always have IC threads you're building on as he reacts and grows as a character. Your depiction of his personality is consistent, which can be hard to sustain.

Overall, I have nothing negative to say about James. And can merely comment that I've enjoyed the opportunities I've had to write with you.

Do I still get a cookie? I can find something to hate if that's required for the cookie.

Nyx

Insert Hilarious Title Here
James is a well developed and complicated character. He has a few simple, fundamental personality traits, and everything else about comes from those simple traits, making his personality easy to grasp and like.
His vices make him flawed, while his need for justice make him occasionally extreme, all balanced out by his being a man trying to do what he believes is right.
Plus he has a supes sexy accent.
My only real complaint is that he and Nyx haven't done a buddy cop movie yet.

Well boss, since you asked...

Love: His ambition & drive to succeed, his grandiosity and passion
Think could be done better: Alcoholism and addiction; James is a highly functional person despite his substance abuse, which is not unheard of, but have you considered exploring some of the severe negative consequences that could result from that behavior? I'm not talking health-wise, but more decision-making-wise-- what if his drinking led to a mistake that he couldn't easily undo or ignore? What if he spiraled out of control?
Think is over done: Fearlessness. A lot of people play characters who have no fears; I admit, I am guilty of this most of the time, though I would like to try to incorporate more anxiety, doubt, and outright fear in my character's thoughts, even if only so that he can overcome those things. I've seen James fear for others and for his interests, but seldom for himself-- what would happen if he had to face certain death right at this moment? Under what circumstances might he beg for his life?
Think is under done: Communism-- hear me out-- James is "the people's" criminal, so what if he became a Marxist and started a radical movement towards ethical distribution of capital across the Galaxy? :p It would be taking the Robin Hood thing to the next level ;)
