Chaab Gotal Veman- Fear Made Real [Gavin Ovmar/Arrbi Betna]

Here and there debris had fallen or was still crashing down. Roads were buckled and buildings closer to the blast center occasionally collapsed under stress and damage. It was as if Hell had come to Keldabe. Betna dodged occasional rubble piles, dead bodies, and fresh sinkholes in his dash to the starport, occasionally stepping aside or slowing to let emergency crews, clusters of people, or the wounded pass by.

He jogged into a smaller area, away from the main routes, and took his bearings once more. Crater, buildings, rubble with a length of rebar sticking out, beaten woman hanging from the rebar, more rubble, another alleyway leading to the starport...

Betna jolted at his thoughts and his head snapped to the woman hanging from the rebar. She looked familiar, at least, as familiar as someone could after suffering a severe beating. He quickly rushed over to help. He pulled a knife from his belt and sawed through the bindings, cutting her down. He then set her down carefully on the ground and started checking over her.

"Hello? Can you hear me?" he asked as he checked for a pulse. "You're gonna be okay, I gotcha."

With that, he went to work and checked her over. A quick glance over and feeling around for any blood or obvious wounds let him know she wasn't suffering from a gaping wound or anything, but he couldn't know if there was a fracture anywhere.

"I gotta get you out of the flightsuit to check for broken bones and any injuries I can't see right now, okay?"

Slowly, a voice began to filter into her consciousness. it sounded vaguely familiar. "Buir...?" she mumbled, trying to turn slowly onto her side, and then instantly regretting it. Her right shoulder flared with pain, and felt like a knife being stabbed into her shoulder. She hissed a curse, her face going slightly pale as she collapsed back to the rubble strewn ground. At his next question, she nodded with a bit of effort, trying to hold her head stable. Just moving hurt, and she barely knew where she was.

Gritting her teeth against the pain, she could feel sweat stand out on her forehead a bit. She frowned. "Last thing I remember was seeing a massive explosion. Then I had headed towards the closest med center - except it was gone. Someone... ambushed me..."

"Not... quite what I asked, but okay, you're conscious mostly," he said as he worked on the woman.

Betna peeled her out of her flightsuit as best he could to see if there were any hidden injuries. Finding nothing external and/or life threatening for the moment, he bandaged her up as best he could from the kit on his belt before injecting a syringe of bacta and pain killers into the vein on her neck.

"This will help you heal faster and numb the pain a bit, but it'll make you sleepy, okay?"

She nodded slightly, trying not to move too much, as it made her dizzy. Squinting at him, she asked softly, "Can we go somewhere other then here?" She frowned again and reached other to her shoulder, clumsily fumbling with whatever has been digging into her shoulder when she had tried to roll to her side.

Slowly, she lifted it in front of her face and squinted at it, trying to focus. When she did, her face went pale. It was the kyr'tsad symbol -the shriek hawk. Her hand shook badly and she dropped the plate as if it had burned her. "How.... That isn't mine...."

"I didn't think it was," Betna said as he finished up. "Does anything hurt when you move? Anything feel like it's grinding or grating inside?"

If she didn't feel like bones were moving or anything was actively broken and shifting, he'd help her walk to the nearest medical facility. He could carry her, but if she'd broken anything on her spine or anything, he'd have to carry her in a litter, which might not be the greatest idea. Overall, depending on her answer, the faster or slower he could get her to the hospital nearby.

At that, she frowned slightly, trying to honestly take stock of her injuries. It wasn't easy to focus with how dizzy she was. "Well, pretty sure I have broken ribs, as our hurts to breathe. And I'm fairly certain that my right collarbone is broken. Can't really lift that arm. He hit me there pretty hard ...."

At that, Betna stopped and pulled out more bandages and a small sling. He wrapped and taped up her ribs as best he could with a pressure dressing and then put her arm in the sling. Once done, he took the last of the bandages and strapped the arm to her chest.

"Alright, I think we should be good to go," he said as he finished. "Can you stand at all?"

A frown crossed her face for a moment, but she nodded. "Aye... " she replied as firmly as she could manage. Gripping his arm with her good one, she pushed carefully to her feet, her jaw clenched. "Hurts like haran, but I'll manage." She gripped his arm and steadied herself for a moment. "Let's get out of here...and if I ever find the chakaar who did this..."

"Survive now, revenge later," Betna said as he helped to steady her.

He brought up his HUD and did a quick look through to find a hospital nearby. The nearest one appeared to be closer to the bomb that had hit earlier, which meant it was pretty likely that facility wasn't there anymore. Which meant they had to go to the next nearest on the other side of the space port. Not too far away, but far enough for a good walk, especially with an injured person.

"We're gonna start heading north-west. There's a medical facility there, but we'll keep a look out for other makeshift ones on the way. I doubt they'll have set some up this fast, but you never know."

Pain stabbed into her injured shoulder, and she gritted her teeth for several seconds. Her grip on his arm was perhaps a bit too strong, but at least she was on her feet. "Let's get out of here," she managed through clenched teeth.

Their progress was slow, but eventually Anija saw the hospital ride into view add they made their way through the rubble. As close top the space port as this hospital was, she was surprised it hadn't gotten more damaged.

She let [member="Arrbi Betna"] guide her inside, and was glad when she could sit down again. Her face was pale.

"Alright, I think you're in safe hands now," Betna said as he helped her down. Nurses immediately came over and began assessing Anija, determining where she'd go in the order of treatment.

"I'm gonna see if I can snag you a doctor," he said before turning and beginning his search. Someone around here had to be one. It was a hospital after all. With luck, the young woman wouldn't need one.

As [member="Arrbi Betna"] turned to go, she nodded. But then, she lightly caught his arm. "I just... wanted to thank you. I... don't know how long I would have been there if you hadn't found me." She shuddered slightly, and squinted at him. "I'm...Anija Ordo... and you seem familiar. Have we met before?" She groaned then and leaned back carefully, trying to keep her arm still. The sling helped, of course. But there were still spikes of pain.

Betna turned at her call and waved a bit as he walked backwards.

"We probably have met before, we just don't remember or whatnot," he said cheerily, not quite looking where he was going. "Name's Bet- OOF!"

Before he could say more than the first three letters of his name, a medicine cart pushed by a droid slammed into him. As the droid pushed Betna and the cart away from the immediate area, Betna realized two things. First, he was stuck as his belt was hooked into the handle on the front of the medical cart. Second... he probably just missed out on dating a beautiful girl.

Today sucked.
