Chains and Broken Things (Veberos and Jeeves)

Aeris raised an amused eyebrow at her younger brother, stepping to the side in order to avoid a collision with one of the other human slaves. "You normally do not listen to begin with, Coliu." The Pureblood recognized the fact that she'd affirmed Coliu's prior accusation of holding a conversation without him, but figured it was of no importance. "And it is still no excuse to leave the taste of rotten meat in my mouth," she added, grimacing.

The girl looked around in an attempt to spot some sort of sign which would direct them towards the corner of the market they needed. After a few moments, her eyes sought her target and she raised a hand, pointing. "There, Crow. That is our destination." Tugging on the left side of his tunic, Aeris went to move forward when a dark shadow eclipsed their path. Glancing up, the young woman felt her innards fill with cold dread.

The person blocking their way was none other than Dunham Prius, son of Lord Prius and an annoying burr in the Vebrero side.

((let me know if you want me to do the majority of the NPC interaction, or if you guys want your slice of pie))

Crow

I brake for nobody.
((Bloody Prius... Horrible car. Anyway, go ahead and do the NPCs.))

Bekker's hand dropped to the nearest concealed weapon as he saw Lord Prius' son step in front of him. He felt Aeris' mind go cold, and sent out a mental message to her.

Maybe if we just stay quiet...

He stepped forward slightly, putting Coliu down on the ground. He felt a vague bit of anger tear at the corners of his mind, as he felt his mistress' fear. She wasn't supposed to be afraid while he was around. Not ever.

Something was wrong, very wrong. Crow had put Coliu down but he still hid behind him, the new feeling of dread was sinking into Coliu tiny heart and stomach

Aeris heard the message from Bek, but didn’t respond. She knew that staying quiet when Dunham decided to make one his victim never worked.

Dunham was a classic example of a Pureblood – he was arrogant, snobbish, and loved to bully those he saw as weak. And unfortunately, Aeris was one such person. Flanking him were two other Purebloods, his groupies: Revita, a female who shared Dunham’s traits and hung onto his every word; and Turmin, a burly male who was dumber than rocks but made up for it in brutishness.

Prius’s eyes took in the sight of the two other Purebloods and their slave, his lip curling. Like Aeris, his eyes were yellow, but where Aeris’s were a soft amber color, his were a harsh, nauseating radioactive yellow. “Well, well, look what we have encountered here. The weaklings decided to come out of hiding today.” As he talked, the piercings on his upper and lower lips hit each other, making a clacking noise. In another situation, it would have been distracting, but Aeris was too focused on his words to take note of it.

Bristling slightly, the girl met his gaze. “We are not here for a fight, Dunham. We came for supplies. Now, leave us be.”

“Leave us be, Prius, leave us be!” Revita mocked in a high-pitched falsetto. “You are in no position to give orders, grotthu nulis.” Beside her Prius smirked and Turmin chuckled. Calling a Pureblood noble a “slave lover” was a very derogatory insult, and right then and there Aeris never felt so much hate for anyone as she did for this arrogant prick.

“You are a blemish to the noble Pureblood species, Prius,” she spat, loathing rolling off of her in waves. “If you are not careful, you might not be waking up in the morning.”

Crow

I brake for nobody.
Bekker tilted his head quizzically at Prius and his two cronies, sizing them up. He'd been in this situation, before, and he always came out on top with Dunham, who was not actually the best fighter. Revita was far better, but weaker when it came to brute strength. If he could injure her, he'd be home free. But Turmin needed a bit more than speed to get messed up. There was the problem. The slave grinned like a madman.

"Come on, Dunham... Didn't enjoy beating up on my poor little slave hands with that magnificent mug of yours?"

The Crow cracked his knuckles, and then noticed Revita go for a weapon. She came back up with a knife. He grinned even wider at the fact that she didn't have a lightsaber. Bekker tore the blade out of her hands with his mind, so fast she yelped. In return, he blew a kiss at her.

"You don't need to fight me just to get close, love. Didn't you enjoy that one night? Where was that, again? I already forgot."

The night in question had only lasted ten minutes. Sure, they'd been kissing for that whole length of time, and she'd almost Force Choked him when she found out who he was, but it'd been worth it for the leverage later. Now, he looked at Turmin, who he ironically felt bad for.

"Poor bastard, you're more of a slave than I am. Still following these two around? Tch."

Dunham simply laughed at Coliu’s outcry, sneering, “Oh? You and what army, nesvanis le snaâ ztapijse?” He turned back to Aeris, that irksome smirk still on his face. He opened his mouth to say something, when Bek interrupted.

"Come on, Dunham... Didn't enjoy beating up on my poor little slave hands with that magnificent mug of yours?"

Prius bared his teeth at Bek’s insult, which clearly hit closer to a nerve than her and Coliu’s own words. Almost unconsciously, Aeris reached out and gripped her slave’s tunic. Careful, Bek, she warned. We may be evenly numbered, but we are outmatched. Coliu and I are in no condition to fight.

However, her warning fell on deaf ears as Bek moved on to Revita, grinning like a mad man. As he tore her blade out of her hand, he made another comment.

"You don't need to fight me just to get close, love. Didn't you enjoy that one night? Where was that, again? I already forgot."

Aeris let out a soft gasp at the implication. Bek had seen Revita? Her slave?

Technically, what Bek did in his free time was of no real concern to her unless it involved the safety of her family. Technically, any romantic affairs he had were none of her business, as he and she were not actually in a relationship. Technically, the comment should not have had an effect on her.

But affect her it did. Aeris, illogically, felt betrayed, and the revelation caused her already tenaciously-beating heart to quicken its pace, coming dangerously close to the threshold of what she could handle. In fact, she became so focused on calming her heart that she missed what Bek said to Turmin. She didn’t, however, miss the results.

Whatever Bek had said wasn’t immediately understood by Turmin, who still simply stood there for a moment. But it wasn’t lost on the other two Pureblood. Prius, who’d recovered his wits, snapped, “Revita! Turmin! Don’t just stand there like idiots! Beat these three two a pulp – and make sure the slave gets and extra-special dose!”

With a snarl, Revita darted towards Bek, pulling out another knife. Turmin, meanwhile, lumbered towards Aeris and Coliu, a wicked grin on his face. Amber eyes wide, the female Pureblood reached out and pulled her brother close. “Stay next to me, Coliu,” she whispered. In the background, Prius began to laugh as Aeris clutched at her chest, her heart racing wildly.

"There's a reason the weak die young, grotthu nulis. I wonder how your parents will handle the reputation of having a weak group of offspring?"

Crow

I brake for nobody.
Bekker glanced worriedly at Aeris, and then realized he had more immediate problems than simply being able to beat these three in an unfair fight. He had to keep his mistress conscious and put the beatdown on them. He sighed, and flicked his wrists, feeling electricity arcing between his fingers. Showtime.

Aeris, please calm down. You're safe as long as I'm here.

With a slightly deranged grin, the Pureblood slave smashed his lightning-covered fist into Revita's gut, in a way that would most likely send her flying into the ground a few meters away.
