Dreams Crushed By Reality
Character goals and ambitions are the core to understanding my characters, I think. I've been learning that more than anything while writing multiple characters, each with different goals and ideas on how to get there.
-
Gwyneira Vizsla
goals were always the easiest to write, because they were so simplistic and realistic. Gwyn literally wanted, more than anything else, for her family to be safe and happy. She cared about the well-being of the Enclave to an extent, she always was improving her crafts and art, and she always enjoyed beating up criminals. But more than anything else, she only ever wanted her family to have it the best they could. Poor Gwyneira even gave up on her own happiness and joy after losing so many people, and completely dedicated herself to the lives of her children. Literally all she wanted was family.

also has a "simple" goal, though a lot more difficult in execution. Mevia wants the glory, power, and future of both Mandalorians and the Chiss Ascendency. She wants to see her peoples finally rise from decades of oppression, exile, and abuse. She wants the Chiss Ascendency in its glory, she wants Mandalorians at the seat of a mighty empire. She also doesn't care what it takes to get there - for the most part. She even joined the Dark Empire of all groups, hoping to expand Mandalore's greatness through Death's Hand.
Mevia additionally wants that on a personal level. She wants to be genuinely strong, powerful, and self sufficient. She wants to be more than an exiled Chiss her adoptive family took pity on. She wants to feel loved for that strength to, and genuinely admired and appreciated as a soldier and as a person.

Elise Ahana-Gwyneira
is my most complicated character to write, in terms of goals. She has an unrealistic, unattainable goal. She literally wants the galaxy to be free of suffering, oppression, and war. She literally wants a universe with no crime, no strong people taking advantage of the weak, and nothing wrong ever happening. It's childish, juvenile, unrealistic, unattainable. She literally wants to save everyone, is going deeper into desperate measures to make that happen, and her unrealistic dream of galactic utopia is driving her over the edge. A perfect catalyst for driving her to the Dark Side, but I know that it won't end well for her, when I personally want Elise to have a happy ending. She's a genuine sweetheart and a kind soul. Her goal is simply never going to happen, and it's depressing to know that I currently have no idea how to make her see that, cope with that, and change her standings on that. "If Jedi system work, why crime not completely eradicated?"
Elise also wants to be happily coupled with
Darth Malum of House Marr
forever.
-
Aoki-Barran Mira
is a smaller scale version of Elise, I think, when it comes to her goals. She knows that galactic paradise is never going to happen. But she wants to figure out what kind of system works best for the safety, security, and freedom of the galaxy and fight for that goal. She wants to save who she can. She believes that the galaxy is as beautiful as it's cruel, and it's worth fighting for. Mira has always leaned towards the Imperial Pellaeonist systems that apply stricter government control and harder enforcement, but without hurting the people or violating sapient rights. She's compassionate, but willing to do what is necessary. It was awesome writing her in the NIO/ Empire because she wanted to see a flawed and cruel system reformed and made into something that could truly work.
Additionally, Mira wants the legacies of her families preserved. She is currently one of the last living members of the Aoki noble warrior family of Atrisia, and she wants to give that family the noble heritage and good reputation it deserves. She also was adopted into the Barran family, and she cares deeply for their affairs as well.
Mira is super glued and Velcro'd to
Michael Barran
and wants to protect him, serve him, and see his own ambitions and goals, similar to her own, fulfilled.
Mira additionally wants her personal family to be happy and prosperous. She wants happiness herself, even if she feels like she doesn't deserve it.
-
Minako Aoki-Barran
is nihilistic in nature, due to being a Scar Hound, and she cares little for the galaxy's affairs or its people. She's a self centered raider who only wants to find her mom and find out why she abandoned her. Hilariously, like her mother before her, she's an Aoki Velcro'd to a Barran. She is insanely protective and attached to
Thomas Barran
, and will fight for whatever he wants her to.
