Intent: Custom blastsword commissioned by [member="Quenladose"]
Development Thread: Can link if necessary. It was hard to get ten posts out of making a sword, so it doesn't meet the requirements outright.
Manufacturer: Rusty's Custom Firearms and Cutlery
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Jedi. I think.
Modularity: Hahahaha. No.
Production: Unique
Material: Durasteel, charric components, iridium accents
Classification: Blastsword
Size: One handed
Length: 75 cm blade, 90 cm overall
Weight: Approximately 1.8 kg
Range: Requires direct contact.
Ammunition: Power cell, charric variant blaster gas. 30 shots per cell and gas cartridge
Special Features: It's a blastsword with charric internals rather than the normal blaster components. The durasteel alloys involved in the construction, when combined with the ceramic ablative powder coating, give it very limited resistance to blasterfire. We're talking maybe 5-10 hits before the blade warps, which will ruin the blast part of the blastsword.
Description: The initial design was based off the "scholar's sword", a small, lightweight weapon designed more for self defense than open battle. Since the customer in question is tiny, it seemed like a good idea at the time. In canon pictures, the blaster portion is seen running across the spine of the weapon. Since a scholar's sword is a duel edged weapon, that didn't make much sense, so I bored out a channel and used a lightweight, small caliber carbine barrel instead of the heavier bore stuff used on Adumar. It reduces the weapon's penetration power significantly, but allows it to remain true to the idea of a lightweight, nimble blade.
This is not a lightsaber. It is not in the same league as a lightsaber, and should not be used as such. I made sure the customer understood that when she placed the order. As a sword, it's perfectly capable of opening arteries and severing tendons, but it probably won't cleave through bone, and you're not decapitating anyone without a really luck strike that slides between vertebrae. And that is extremely unlikely, because the blade is thicker than normal, in order to allow for the blastsword components. To compensate, I used a hollow grind on the edge to maintain sharpness and slicing power.
I did build in very limited resistance to blasterfire, as mentioned above. 5-10 hits, depending on the intensity of the blaster, and it's useless as an energy weapon, unless the customer feels the need to blow herself up by firing a weapon with a warped barrel. It will not stand up to a lightsaber.
The actual penetration power of the energy portion is limited. It'll make a neat hole in unarmored flesh, burn through light armor, make medium armor uncomfortable, and will just piss off someone wearing heavy armor. Since charric bolts carry kinetic energy, there is some kickback. To counter this, power has been dialed back, and the blade is a little heavier than the average scholar's sword, which weighs next to nothing.
Both power and blaster gas are stored in the pommel, good for thirty shots. Once it's expended, the pommel can be released via a quick detach mechanism and swapped out for a fresh one. I made three for the weapon. Once its detached, both the gas cartridge and the power pack can be swapped out, but that's going to take some time, and unless you get ahold of some gas from the Chiss, there's no point.
In short, this is a weapon only a Force user could use effectively, but doesn't advertise the fact. The customer wanted a light weapon for undercover work, where a lightsaber might give away her identity.
