Chief of Senate nominations

Hello everyone!

Due to unforeseen circumstances the current Chief of Senate has sadly been forced to step down.

This means that we have a vacancy in the Triumvirate that comprises the IC Leadership of this Faction.

Assuming more than one candidate comes forward, that means we'll have a vote later in the week. Although I know a couple of people have already put their name forward, I'd ask anyone who would like to be considered to post below. The self-nominations will close in 48 hours and the vote will be for 72 hours. This ensures we all get a chance to have our say in what is a very important position.

Once the poll opens, we'll ask each candidate to make a speech if they would like - to encourage people to vote for them. And this isn't the OS, so please - no offers of cookies!

As a reminder to the structure of the Government, something to consider when putting your name forward, here's the outline:

Republic's Triumvirate:

1. Chief of the Senate - Oversees the Senate and political functions of the Republic.

2. Chief of Government - Oversees the government and administrative functions of the Republic.

3. Chief of the Military - Works with the military commanders to discuss grand strategy and funding for the military.

Just need to clarify something. IC isn't she known as the woman that betrayed the GR in the recent battle on Manaan?

Negative.

There is nothing Icly to ever say that Selka ever betrayed the Republic, nor is there any whiff of an idea that she might be. She did everything according to procedure for Silk holdings and to ensure the safety of her workers and the Kolto.

In fact, she is considered to be a stout supporter considering all that Silk Holdings has done for the refugees and for the republic -- a large chuck of the Republic's Tech has to thank Silk for that. And the Selkath love her.

The poor girl was thankfully saved by the Selkath when the One Sith barged into Silk holdings, allowing the woman to be saved from their clutches!

I guess since this is a thread w/IC ramifications, i'm going to leave this here:

potential candidates with direct ties to external entities such as corporations or other militaries will be subject to stringent background checks by yours truly. given recent events and repeated dark side corruption on the part of multiple members of the triumvirate, this is a necessary solution in order to maintain the security of the Republic.

come in with clean hands and no real ties, kiddies.

[member="Geneviève Lasedri"] - it's k. this is mostly a response to the fact that Zane's paranoid 'cuz his predecessor turned dark side, we've lost the Jedi Council to the Dark Side and we're in the middle of a war where one of the favoured Sith tactics is infiltration.

just kinda a thing, y'know? it's like we exist in an evolving world with repercussions, somehow. ;)

There were no stringent background checks done before - so we need to make sure this is done with IC information. For example, I don't remember you being subject to any scrutiny.

And you might want to qualify/clarify the statement that we've lost the Jedi Council to the Dark Side :)

that's because i only ever go on missions or escort Senators. my downtime is spent w/naps.

Also the whole 'hey there was a traitor on the Jedi Council' thing.

OK, nothing to see here...

Just to clarify, once upon a time there was a Jedi on the Council who turned to the Dark-side but it's an historic thing - this is not relating to any current situation (unless of course anyone has some dirt they want to share) :)

Daella Apparine was a member of the Jedi Council when the One Sith Attacked Coruscant. She turned out to be a Sith named Darth Junra.

Sounds vaguely familiar.

I wonder how far anyone would get joining the One Sith as a secret traitor/rebel/criminal? I have no doubt the omnipotent 'Dark Lord' would NPC expose them within one thread.

Still, good luck to all applicants. I'll look forward to your coup attempts. It's a triumvirate, there's always a coup attempt.

Just schedule them after mine. :p

The key really is just to tell no one.
