Intent: To develop a liquid metal allow for more martial applications for Aurora Industries to use
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: Aurora Industries
Model:
Affiliation: Aurora Industries
Modularity: None
Production: Mass-produced
Material: Denantium, gallium, indium, duralium, lanthanide
Strengths:
+ Has the ability to shift shapes when an electrical current is passed through it
+ When in its hardened form, the metal can take several blaster bolts and is quite resistant to blows from melee weapons and slugthrowers (lightsabers will still burn right through it)
+ Easy to manufacture
+ When in hardened form, it can retain a rather sharp edge
Weaknesses:
+ When in liquid state, a blaster bolt will evaporate part of the alloy
+ Cannot maintain coherence if exposed to extremely high temperatures or molten material
+ Corrosive agents will destroy the alloy completely
+ Because of the newly added metals to the allow, an enemy's electrical attack such as an arc caster or Force Lightning will disrupt the alloy even when in hardened form
Description:
Since the success of Project Masquerade in developing Mimetic Hydrargyrum for the new line of infiltration droids, the Anomid Doctor Votoc began work on developing a more heavy duty version of the alloy he dubbed Chimera Alloy. Just like its sister alloy, Chimera Alloy is designed on a primary combination of denantium, gallium, and indium that allows the metal to shift shapes when an electrical current is passed through it. However, Doctor Votoc added both duralium and lanthanide to add more durability and strength for the alloy when in its hardened form. When hardened, the new alloy is able to take several blaster bolts along with being quite resistant to melee weapons and slugthrowers. The alloy can also hold a constant sharp edge when the correct current is passed through it.
However, the material has many of the same problems as its sister. Blaster bolts will evaporate the alloy when it is in liquid form and a lightsaber has no problem going through it no matter what form it is in. If exposed to extremely high temperatures or molten material, the alloy cannot maintain its coherence. Corrosive agents, such as acids, will destroy the alloy completely. The alloy does have an additional problem that, due to the new materials introduced into it, an enemy's arc caster or Force Lightning will disrupt the alloy even when it is in hardened form.
