Personality: One of Amara Zarides' companions once described clones as children trying to escape cloying parents. They are all defined in relation to their templates. Some clones grow to admire their templates and seek to emulate them. Others do their best to become the exact opposite. Some are never able to resolve this conflict and become actual individuals.
Chiyoko is the clone of Sumiko Tanaka, a former Inquisitor of the Atrisian Empire who became a Sith Master obsessed with the acquisition of power and arcane artefacts. However, Chiyoko doesn't know that her mirror turned Sith, as Archangel acquired a sample of Sumiko's DNA in the process of the Empire's collapse. As a result, Chiyoko has a somewhat idealised, inaccurate perception of her template. While she knows that Inquisitor Tanaka did her share of bad things, she rationalises most of her deeds. It helps that Sumiko was pressed into service, which was standard for the Inquisition.
Like Enyo, Amara and the rest of the clone posse, Chiyoko was created by Archangel to serve as a Force-using slave-soldier. She was saved from this fate due to the actions of her two 'big sisters'. Chiyoko has sworn to never let anyone control or enslave her. But she takes this a step further than Enyo by opposing slavery and oppression in general. She desires to be a righteous avenger, a paladin who strikes from the shadows to smite the wicked.
There is one complication though: Enyo, the brood mother of the Archangel clones, is a nihilistic, amoral cyborg who has little capacity to feel empathy for anyone who's not one of her siblings. She's also the head of a paramilitary criminal organisation. Her entire business model is based on murder and exploitation. This causes a lot of issues. It makes Chiyoko rather conflicted because she feels loyalty towards a sibling to whom she owes her life, but finds her business practices abhorrent. For her part, Enyo finds the young Atrisian a bit misguided, but approves of her willingness to get into combat.
Driven, determined and serious, Chiyoko wants to leave her one mark, which is pulling her away from Enyo's associates. By contrast, she is close to Amara, as both have similar morals. It is likely that both will bid Enyo farewell after Archangel's defeat and try to make their own way in the Galaxy. However, while Chiyoko is more moral than Big Sister Enyo, her attitude is still quite practical. She's quite willing to lie, cheat and deceive. Likewise she has no qualms about killing people she considers to be vile and deserving of death. She does struggle with the idea of how far is too far.
Chiyoko has never visited Atrisia and knows only of her homeworld via flash learning, the holonet or what she heard from the rough types Enyo associates with. However, she has developed in interest in Atrisian culture. This may be an attempt to get close to and understand the template she knows so little of. She's developed a fondness for Atrisian literature, tea and cuisine.
COMBAT INFORMATION
- Weapon of Choice: Lightsabre, guns, the Force.
- Similar to her template, Chiyoko specialises in sneaking, shadows and the like. Using her agility and aptitude for stealth, she can get close to a target and launch lightning fast strikes before retreating.
- While still an acolyte, Chiyoko has skill in concealing her Force aura, which she learned from Enyo. She can also use Force flash to to temporarily disorientate opponents or disable security cameras.
- Chiyoko's preferred lightsabre form is Form IV. An aggressive style, it is fast-paced, relying in a combination of speed, strength and agility. It is particularly effective against singular opponents. On the flip side, it is less effective against blaster fire and taxing for the body. Moreover, the kinetic acrobatics of Ataru are more difficult to perform in enclosed quarters where there is little space to move.
- Not a physical powerhouse, as she prefers to use speed, dexterity and deception over brute strength.
- Inexperienced. Chiyoko is not even a year old and thus incredibly green.
Sumiko Tanaka was once an Inquisitor of the Atrisian Empire. Both a dangerous operator and a slave kept on a short leash, she was set free by the Empire's implosion, following the assassination of Empress Madeline Kahoshi, whose reign had been defined by totalitarian policies and persecution of Force-sensitives. After escaping from the prison she'd been locked in ever since Madeline and her Archangel allies launched an Anti-Force-User Purge, Sumiko became a dark sorceress who lent her services to the highest bidder. Obsessed with the acquisition of occult knowledge, she acquired several powerful artefacts.
Inevitably, these arcane devices corrupted her and she converted to a somewhat idiosyncratic interpretion of the Sith beliefs, declaring herself a Sith master. To support her rather selfish goals, she took control over a cult of zealots. One wonders what she'd think if she learned that she has a clone. Presumably she'd try to corrupt her.
During her captivity, Atrisian scientists conducted experiments on her to find out what makes Force-users tick - and how their powers can be nullified or replicated. Some of them worked for Archangel. Thus the HRDs who secretly controlled the company were able to acquire a sample of Sumiko's DNA. Thus Chiyoko Mizutam was born. When she came into being, she was a member of the second generation of Force Clones created by Archangel, after Enyo Typhos and Amara Zarides had gone rogue.
The clone was given the best conditioning and flash training that Archangel could provide. Thus she awoke with all the knowledge she needed to know. She also knew of the fate of her template, though there were considerable gaps since the HRDs had only limited knowledge of what Sumiko had been doing since her escape. This gave Chiyoko a somewhat idealised view of her template. Archangel's plan for the clone were shortcircuited when Enyo and Amara rescued the clone posse. And so Chiyoko was spared a life of servitude to genocidal droids and woke up in very different circumstances.
Like her siblings, she never wanted to let anyone control her again. But she also manifested a questioning, independent streak. Lacking resources or contacts of her own, she was dependent on Enyo, but she found the criminal practices of her 'sibling' distasteful. Having been slaved from a life of enslavement, she was determined to do the same for others who languished under oppression. Enyo found her views deeply misguided, but significantly never made much of an attempt to 'turn her to the dark side'. While she has no qualms about forcibly cyborgising her minions or executing them for disobedience, she applies different standards to those she considers family.
Indeed for a while she found ways to direct Chiyoko's 'righteous zeal' in a 'productive direction'. For one, Chiyoko was enthusiastic about participating in raids against Archangel. She acquired a reputation for enacting rough street justice in the Coruscant slums the Iron Fist Consortium had claimed for itself, inflicting Karmic punishment on those who terrorised the guilty. During the course of this, she acquired an appetite for ironic, Karmic punishments. Once she went too far and Enyo had to bail her out when she antagonised a Hutt crime boss - one with whom the Cyborg had been doing business on the side. This obviously caused a rupture, and the two will almost certainly part ways following Archangel's defeat, with Chiyoko joining Amara.
