While the Marquis carefully listened to Danger Arceneau Danger Arceneau 's current experiences with the Dark Empire and her view on the potential future the Galactic Alliance's finances and contractual obligations had, he was wholly unprepared for the very late, unexpected and unanounced arrival of the Colicoïd barging in and instantly setting back the discussion to what had already been discussed and agreed upon in their last meeting. In truth, this completely boorish and bullheaded way of arriving did not sit well with Tertius at all, but he was willing to overlook the discrepancies of this individual for the sake of his own corporate greed playing into it all...and the fact none of the others seemed too bothered with this individual's barging in.

"Should there be any need for it, the N&Z STS division will also be at the ready to provide ample transportation methods of people and material," It was good that Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell brought up this promisory to the table, since at the very least the chairman of the N&Z could fall in line with this proposal, considering keeping friendly relations with the majority of the guild was slowly becoming a priority. "As for your concerns regarding the Sith Order, Lady Chi Chuchi Chi Chuchi , if necessary I think it would be a good thing to ask Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf from Aurora Industries for advice and potential support in the matter. As far as I know, Aurora Industries holds quite a great deal of influence within the Sith Order's upper echelons."

Turning back to the Colicoid and the others though, the Marquis rubbed his brow with the index finger and thumb of his right hand, letting out a deep sigh as he leaned a bit back in his chair. "I think it best to investigate the Galactic Alliance's own expansion drift as well. Their links with what can be considered highly hostile factions with no regards to politics and dialogue does concern me. Their own unmitigated show of force to all those they deem to be ... 'evil' is also worth some concern. Being lead by warmongers and warriors of blind justice is not exactly a good soil for corporate interests to grow in either. Sure, from a perspective of a military contractor as myself, it generally does pay well to have war, but as said, this may have consequences on the long run. Perhaps as a precautionary matter, the CIG can start sending representatives to individual systems in order to better understand the market and keep oversight on what the market truly says?"

Derron nodded politely- or what he hoped was polite in the various cultures- acknowledging Dashiell and his other fellow attendees before returning his full attention to the host.

Accepting the offer of a beverage mostly because it was convention, he chose a Balerian ale for its low ethanol content. Then he settled into his seat at the table. The protocol droid he'd brought stood nearby, waiting for any moment of need that might surface.

He began by addressing Tertius' first question.

"DDSI has fortunately suffered little difficulty with the embargo of the Dark Empire. We had no infrastructure in their space, and currently enjoy a fully mobile base of operations. It made cutting them off relatively painless for us, in comparison to others gathered here. The worst impact has been the loss of customers in absorbed systems."

Laborr's reductions in profit were doubtless troubling for the magnate. But Locke had a good point. Materiel losses by people who were still their customers would create an opportunity to recoup profits. Of course, that might not help to quickly replace lost manufacturing capacity... nor the customers lost to captured regions. Even when refugees could escape an attacked region, their wallets were usually quite thinned by the eventuality.

None of this directly impacted DDSI's operations, though there were knock-on effects. One of their major sources of revenue were institutions of learning. Even small worlds had universities that needed in-field discovery to facilitate their research. Conflict severed contact with institutions of learning as surely as they severed systems from safe space.

Derron has to shake his head at the mention of Dark Empire levies on neutral corporations, as relayed by Danger.

"I share many concerns with Entity Dec. I regret that- having once declared a willingness to seize corporate assets and imprison corporate operatives, a relaxation of policy means little to DDSI. A policy that is relaxed can be tightened again. If you will forgive the metaphor, I would not wish to stick my neck into their space only to have that policy tightened around my throat. At this point, it is less the policy of the moment that concerns us than the willingness to enact such policies to begin with.

I think the Arcenau corporation's policy of continuing to evacuate personnel from impacted regions is wise. Not only to retain those personnel, but to demonstrate to future hires the care and concern you place for your employees. It will enhance recruitment efforts moving forward."

Dashiell's offer to help with that evacuation was thoughtful, and sure to secure a positive working relationship with the corporate entities present moving forward.

"DDSI is not known for its cargo lifting or personnel transport capabilities. We do not field warships. Nor do we have an impressively sized corporate fleet.

However, in addition to small research frigates, we do have one vessel in our inventory which may be incidentally suited to a large-scale evacuation. I could place it at your disposal, Chief Executive Arcenau, as well as others here that may need it for similar reasons.

The delay in high-intensity neutron star research efforts would be minimal."

When Lin Terallo offered places for refugees to inhabit, Derron could not help but think she was being clever. There was a reason why the term 'sapient resources' existed. If refugees evacuated to a zone under her control, she'd be able to sift them for useful talents and poach the best of them.

Which seemed a fair exchange for services rendered.

This left him to comment on the Galactic Alliance.

"The Galactic Alliance has long suffered from a purity problem, which I believe contributes to the elevation of fringe factions of extremists along their borders.

There are areas of research which DDSI cannot engage in without risking GA contracts, due to their philosophical and religious objections. It is disconcerting, because a host of interesting technologies have been lost in old worlds and temples they consider to be unholy.

Despite this, they remain among the best options for free commerce in the future, should they win their various conflicts. The worse threat they offer beyond their ideological narrow-mindedness are the high tariffs they impose to pay for social programs.

If an agreement could be made with them to respect the borders of a free trade sector, DDSI would be willing to invest in the purchase and maintenance of a small region of sovereign space where we might place corporate headquarters without expectation of interference or excessive tariffs and taxes.

Something new, under a new name, without the aroma of past attempts at similar endeavors which may have been ill-regarded by galactic powers."

She was listening aand largely dividing her own thoughts and attentions... working on projects in her head and taking in the discussion of the Dark Empire... they were different in some ways and her experiences on Tython had shown a few things.. namely the next set of ways to come at the problems. Moving assets under their view might be more difficult. "We have tightened our grips as it were in not selling to them whihc means they will look for ways to utalize what they already have to produce. We are not the only ones in the galaxy who one goes to. We are simply in most cases the top of our ventures. I know if they tried to expand into areas Sasori has facilities we could impede them but not stop them... That would likely happen because thhey ignore the warnings about traveling through the space between the galaxies and how easy it is to run into unseen hazards."

She said it with a shrug. "So we can cut them off, we might make the standard in terms of technology, weapons and innovations, we have fuel and medical cornered as well as a number of other fields. Our work with Corellian Digital and their broadcast networks does mean we could have more media coverage." She looked at Chuchi and spoke. "SMaller independant ones would also look at the credits they might be offering. A small mining guild trying to get by could be enticed to give a nexu's share in exchange for getting a great deal more profit and as they work more and more they could under the Dark Empire expand due to what they need and what they seize. They don't need to agree, they just follow the credits." SHe listened as the subject of the Galactic Alliance came up and raised an eyebrow to it.... he wasn't wrong they should always look at all sides.

"A representive could be helpful in most cases and looking at some of the intentions isn't bad though there will always be those wanting war... even when Ijet negotiated 'peace' in her time with the sith it was just so they could build up for an invasion of Coruscant while the Republic claimed victory." She was debating a few more things internally though while sitting there and hearing the others... building weapons or going directly at the Empire was... possible for a few of them and they might even manage to do a few things but... she looked at Derron Daks whom she had met at the BLISS reveal and.... well she had never seen much of a problem with the alliance objecting to them going aafter the older technologies.. most of the time they didn't even notice. "You want to buy a section of space for all of us?" She had a little surprise and amused interested... she wanted to know more.

The relief that softened Danger's face was as plain as day, a wide, gracious smile curving over her full, ruby lips. It wasn't often the Queen of Trade felt so openly thankful, but right now, the offers of assistance were a kindness she couldn't overlook.

"Well, I am mighty grateful for the offers of help," she drawled, her voice smooth as honey with a hint of that familiar throaty twang. "I'll certainly be takin' y'all up on those as my team narrows down which areas'll need to be moved and settled elsewhere." Her gaze swept over the room, and she gave a polite nod of gratitude to each.

Settling back, Danger listened attentively as others spoke, their voices weaving over Alliance matters and the notion of a shared headquarters somewhere neutral. Now, that idea had her interest piqued. She tilted her head slightly, considering the proposal as she looked to Chief Executive Derron Daks Derron Daks .

"I'd be quite interested in such an endeavor, Chief Executive Daks," she mused, her gaze keen. "Do you have a region of space in mind for this headquarters?"

As the conversation turned toward the idea by Matsu Ike Matsu Ike of appointing a Guild representative to lobby for them in the Alliance Senate, Danger felt a stir of intrigue. It made sense -- a fresh, fair-minded voice to represent their interests in such volatile times. She scanned the room thoughtfully until her gaze landed on the young Pantoran woman, Chi Chuchi Chi Chuchi , poised and observant. A warm smile crept over her face.

"Perhaps, Miz Chuchi," she suggested, her Southern drawl soft but carrying a note of purpose, "this could be a favorable position for you?"

The Colicoid looked pleased, if such an emotion was even possible for the insectile race. In truth, it was not an emotional pleasure, but an intellectual one - a feeling of cold, hard factual logic being acknowledged by Executive Daks. He earned a nod of respect from the Colicoid - a rarity, perhaps, to be treasured. Though the man-eating insects were still unpredictable, in this, there was mutual cooperation for the benefit of their own profits - and well-being, of course. Theirs being the Colicoids, but incidental benefits to "allies" fared well for CCN predictions. Indeed, as the Colicoid motioned his droid and clicked in an array of alien linguistics, the droid commented.

"Indeed, Executive Daks speaks the truth on this matter - the policies the Dark Empire has taken will only increase further pressure on our coffers and being. Moreover, the continued evacuation of personnel, while possible, will eventually become an unprofitable venture as the Dark Empire continues to gain momentum and control of neighboring regions. This, while perhaps manageable for a time by a collective effort, will eventually result in problems unmanageable if the Dark Empire manages to link up its Core holdings with that of its main territories."

The Colicoid mostly waved a hand on, and then commented further as his disgusting maw spoke a language none could understand but the droid. It had been an arduous process to translate it to Basic from the native tongue of Colla IV's denizens - but it proved invaluable.

"Of course, it is impossible to continue a constant retreat and withdrawal of assets, both liquid and fixed. To this end, His Presence proposes that it, it being the Colicoid Creation Nest, alone, and if others so wish to join, so shall it be, engage in sabotage efforts as to delay and choke the advance of the Dark Empire. This has two net benefits - not only to potentially formulate a risk for them to be forced to engage with as to having to slow down their march and potentially buy time for a counter-offensive to be made... But it also benefits our own evacuation efforts, and gives time for key and critical assets, as well as other ventures, to be safeguarded. To this end, as Executive Daks has brought up, there is a singular asteroid colony owned by the Colicoid Creation Nest - we will be willing to part with this colony in the Outer Rim as a safe denizen for research, testing, and offices. Of course, such can be discussed later."

The Colicoid merely turned to face the group again, and nodded to Chuchi - though there's a hidden (thanks to his physiology) look of disgust upon his features. The Galactic Alliance had proven most obstructive to testing of their latest products as well as other imports. To this end, the Colicoid commented one final time, as his droid translated said words.

"There is, of course, the matter of the Galactic Alliance itself. Its continued dogmatic adherence to grandiose ideals unsuitable for commercial business, as well as its highly-regulatory laws, make the matter of prospect in regards to representation a risk. His Presence does not feel the Galactic Alliance make for fine business ultimately as their practices are as bad as Hueches in their plundering of our business practices. We Colicoids have the fortune of being isolated upon our world - but other businesses suffer intrusion and oversight far more heavily. To this end, His Presence proposes a representative likewise to the Sith Order, as well as those polities, businesses, corporations, and systems willing to indulge in good, commercial, unrestrictive business. His Presence believes such groups are more willing to offer tangible, material benefits both liquid and fixed, as opposed to a polity who is convinced by its Jedi Order's falsehoods and Senate's delusions that they are the only moral good in a galaxy that does not desire to be forced upon itself an unbending "moral" legality that restricts and halts commercial profits."

The Colicoid finished, as insectile eyes peered at them all, awaiting their answer...

I continue to listen; to the Marquis, to Executive Daks, to Miss Matsu, to Miss Danger, and to the newest attendee Mister Ank.

My own interactions with the Alliance have not been so very forthcoming. Which in all honesty I had found it to be surprising given how close their borders are to New Cov. But the more that I learn about them, the more that I am glad that New Cov is not on their radar.

The Sith Order I have had no interactions with that I am aware of. Whether or not the one that attacked Ilic City was a part of them or some other Sith organization, I am not certain. That information has remained elusive from me so far. Yet one way or another I will find out.

Returning my focus to the present, I find myself to be rather intrigued with what Mister Ank had to say. And so after he had finished, I chose then to speak up. "I would be very interested in looking into the asteroid colony that His Presence has offered. Also I may have a means for arranging some sabotage efforts against the Dark Empire should we all agree to understake such measures."

She had remained mostly silent throughout the gathering, focused as she was on her datapad. She had arrived with little fanfare that would beget her standing within a galactic power or corporation, which suited her all the better. She viewed further action against the Dark Empire as unnecessary at the moment, privately agreeing that evacuations and movement of assets would be more suitable. Her only major corporate assets in danger from possible Dark Imperial expansion were the shipyards at Valc VII, and plans were already being drawn up for evacuation if they were ever needed. No, her most substantial asset near their space was Valrar, but as the planet was still relatively obscure, she doubted the Imperials would even realize it existed.

Her attention shifted back to her datapad as more movement occurred within the Sith Assembly on Jutrand. Her proposed legislation was coming up for a vote, and if it succeeded, it would be to all their benefits in the near future.

"I find myself torn on the subject of purchasing space for a more permanent presence," she said, looking up to those gathered. "While it would cement this group further, I also sort of enjoy the rotating meeting spots hosted by members. Gives the impression that none of us are truly above the others."

Even though it could certainly be argued there were bigger fish among those gathered than others.

"As for a representative within Sith territory, there is currently legislation within our Assembly that will address such a concern and open up our Empire for further development. Something a little fairer than what the Dark Empire offered you, Danger. The text for the legislation is available for all of you to peruse at your leisure."

It was just the beginning of her plans to bring a measure of stability to Sith controlled space, along with a much more robust economy than what had been previously overseen by others and had been neglected in the Emperor's apathy.

The bill, proposed by Dark Councilor Darth Arcanix, is designed to open up the territory of the Sith Empire to further economic development by means of incentivizing private corporations to develop resources and infrastructure within the territory currently controlled by or may come into the possession of the Sith Empire.

The bill would authorize Planetary Governors and other influential Sith to incentivize private corporations to develop worlds they oversee or throughout the Empire, as per their position, through any means as a way to stabilize and enhance the domestic economy and production of the Sith Empire.

The bill would authorize the Sith Empire to collect a 15% tax and first option purchases on resources and products developed and extracted within the Empire's territory. Additionally, it would authorize, for corporations that are viewed favorably by the Dark Council as a collective or by the Emperor, to be exempt from levies upon their goods and trade at border checkpoints. In regards to this act, favorable views would be made towards corporations that contribute significant economic activity and development, but is not limited to such if agreed upon among Council members or any amendments made to this act through the Assembly.

The bill would authorize corporations that have contributed significant development and economic activity within the borders of the Sith Empire, or have become an invaluable partner in the military-industrial complex of the Sith Empire, to appoint a representative to the Sith Assembly itself.

Makai raised an eyebrow at the mention of an asteroid facility for them to meet at. He wasn't sure how to feel about that, especially considering the representative from CCN and Director Terallo were talking about retaliation against the Dark Empire. If one poked the Nexu den long enough, it was only a matter of time before the Nexu took matters into their own hands. He would leave them to their own devices to figure out the consequences there.

"A rotating location also keeps us one step ahead of anyone looking to take out the entire group as a whole. However, a meeting location may also serve has a second headquarters for some companies present, which could provide a new avenue of opportunity."

Yet when Miss Raaf spoke about opportunity in Sith territory, he was surprised. Idly, he wondered if it was in response to the Dark Empire's decree or if it had been in the works for some time. An image thing? Or wanting to open up for expansion and fuel their economy for further growth. There was a fifteen percent tax, which he found understandable. Eyes scanned the document, finding himself interested in comparison to some of his other projects recently.

"I like this bill so far, Miss Raaf. Is there a penalty for working with others that you are aware of? I have assets in Empire of the Lost space. In Galactic Alliance space. No allegiance, of course, business is business."

The pad of her index finger quietly tapped at the sturdy surface of the table they were seated at. It was quite charming that so many of her colleges were willing to have her represent them, and mildly frustrating to realize they weren't aware she already was. Something she let pass without finding a polite way of telling them. There were much more important matters to attend to than her ego after all. Instead she read the Bill by Dark Councilor Darth Arcanix while listening to the others concerns.

"I'm of two minds about establishing a more permanent H.Q. One would provide further legitimacy, a stable meeting point and shared resources alongside the other advantages spoken of. As well, it will be a shared expense that would not impact us all equally. Should we go equal portions, I with my luxury boutique will feel unfairly burdened for little gain. Break expenses down by use or proportionately, and the larger businesses will be the ones burdened." She smiled then as her voice became more playful. "Besides, I have not yet had the opportunity to host." She left a little pause there for reactions before continuing. "I would actually suggest a location in the Far Galaxy should we proceed. It's remote, but not inaccessible. The latest drives reduce travel time to no more than a trip across Alliance space. It's mostly uncharted, resource rich, and most importantly, the eyes of the myriad of empires are not yet upon it. There's wealth and civilization flourishing to the degree that opening an outlet has proven profitable to me."

"I would also urge our more aggrieved members not to take overt action against the Dark Empire. We run apparatuses of commerce and money making, they of war. Most recently throwing back strike forces of the Alliance far in excess of what we can muster. I would also council that an attack by one of us could be construed as an attack by the Guild itself, or at the very least endorsed. Everyone would be open to retaliation."

Braze stood attentively beside Everett, his advisor, listening as the conversation ebbed and flowed. Observing the need for reinforced evacuation solutions, he decided to put the offer over, better late then never to the conversation after having a hushed conversation with Everett about the logistics of such in an aside.

"If anyone requires a more substantial means for future evacuations or, shall we say, relocating in a secure manner," he began with a hint of formality gracing his tone, "I'm more than willing to offer the use of some of our Care Cruisers to ensure the safety of the people involved."

Derron's face showed the slightest of expressions as the idea of actively sabotaging the Dark Empire came up again. It would mean essentially joining the war against the Dark Empire, something not especially likely to be profitable. At least, not for a research firm such as his own.

On the topic of places they might purchase static territory, he did have an opinion he was prepared to voice.

"Wrea is weakly held by piratical institutions, according to our recent stellar mapping efforts. I anticipate they could be bought out, when the alternative is being met with overwhelming force.

Wrea's situation at the tip of the Correlian run makes it ideal for trade. Its position far from major powers assures a minimum of interference with commerce.

The asteroid fields present in the system not only provide potential resources, but also an excellent location for the presence of defensive installations.

The planet itself is unremarkable, although a large oceanic surface area and tidal forces suggest that tidal wave generators could provide an ample power source for minimal investment. The separation of hydrogen from the water additionally provides the potential for fusion fuel on demand.

As a relatively unremarkable world, it is unlikely to be coveted. But its presence along a major trade route makes it spatially ideal for economic trade."

He looked to Chi Chuchi, "That having been said, you are absolutely correct about the benefits of the Far Galaxy, not only in terms of its remoteness from current conflict, but the potential richness of exploitable resources and territory. A worthy consideration.

If we go this route, it will take time to build the necessary installations either at Wrea or in the Far Galaxy. Or any other location we may find attractive. There will be plenty of time for each of us to host gatherings while that is underway, to honor the social requirements of reciprocity."

Finally, he decided to address the idea of active measures against the Dark Empire.

"If this body decides to undertake active operations against the Dark Empire, DDSI is resolved to support it as much as we are able.
That having been said, we are not equipped with combat ships. Our vessels are armed as much as is necessary to deal with insecurities in Wild Space and other Unknown Regions. They may be adapted to war, but they are not ideal to the purpose.

It should be considered that entering active operations against the Dark Empire will absolutely result in losses. We should not consider such actions unless we are positive that the benefits gleaned will outreach the costs incurred... costs I anticipate to be substantial. Even if our efforts are covert, the Dark Empire has intelligence resources that could respond in kind."

"Lady Raaf?" While he had been calmly listening to each of those present giving their piece, the dialogue seemingly taking a strange turn when both Derron Daks Derron Daks and Ank Dec Ank Dec seemed to be quite convinced that there could be additional meassures to be taken in regards to the Dark Empire, a issue Tertius had thought they had at the very least been quite clear on that it had been solved and would be under further evaluation to observe the machinations of said empire and respond accordingly should the embargo not be enough to convince them to reconsider their edicts and choices, the fact that there was mention of the Sith Order having passed a bill which could very well provide a much needed breather to many of the companies within the Corporate Interests Guild was quite a bombshell...a positive one at that and in this day and age, there was hardly much good news to go around. "Might I ask if you as the present representative and owner of the Aurora Industries conglomorate could tell me if you have any idea on whether or not there would be a difference in the tariffs between locally produced and imported goods? I am aware that this must be a rather recent bill, but no doubt, the honorable Lady Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf is much more in the know than any of us."

Standing up and holding his hand up to his chest as a motion to have those present acknowledge his presence, the Marquis used his other hand to motion one of his staff and ask for a bottle of the finest Corellian Whisky and a box of the finest Eriaduan Cigars to be brought to the meeting room. "While I am aware that we all are annoyed by the actions of the Dark Empire, I think we can agree that making any assessment of the situation is impossible without at the very least granting ourselves a quarter to see the results of our actions, our embargo and to decide our further steps, should those be needed from that point onwards. As for the idea of granting ourselves a permanent meeting place, I must stress that currently we have the advantage of most our meetings being on different locations, making our moves a bit more unpredictable... if we are to start meeting on the same place every time we have something to discuss, we take great risk."

Tilting his head a bit, Tertius smiled as he turned his attention for a moment towards Braze Braze . "I am fairly certain that most of us are aware that if we were to be taken out in one fell swoop... any who have bad blood with us could very well bring the Galaxy to its knees. So let us not make any hasty moves or decisions without a proper dialogue on it. I for one prefer the loose locations system we are utilizing now, which allows us a better vantage point for any of those who think they may be able to take us all down."

As the House Nargath staff finally returned to the room, a couple of bottles and the finest crystalware was placed on the large table, cigars were also present and for some reason, there was a smaller bottle with non-alcoholic, sweet tasting berry wine and a plate of dark brown cookies. "May I suggest we enjoy the moment for a bit, relax and perhaps with a breather we can look at the points on our agenda with a clearer mind."

"I could, perhaps, offer an alternative proposal."

John let his eyes dance around the table for a moment, taking in the group that had collected for a moment before leaning back in his chair as he gestured at the table.

"Everyone's made good arguments for having a central hub, but also for the need to keep ourselves rotating, away from the potential of being pinned down by any group out there that would do us harm. And, while the far galaxy does offer benefits in terms of resources, it's also that little bit too far away for the instant communication we all demand. Even as we meet here, we're all in touch with our businesses, making sure that they operate smoothly and we can deal with any problems that crop up. I think, perhaps to start, we could look at a joint venture to explore and plumb the resources of the far galaxy before we make any moves in that direction that might draw the attention of the governments of the galaxy."

"In the meanwhile, as you're all aware, I've recently begun development and deployment of a series of new hypergates. My intention is to provide a new path for galactic trade. By linking the corners of the galaxy, and different hyperlanes, we can move products, people and information across the galaxy significantly faster than we are currently able. Imagine, being able to buy fresh fish from Mon Calamari on Corellia, or for a merchant on Endor to be able to sell their goods on Ryloth. You've all heard the pitch before, how it will secure trade against the vagrancies of deep space piracy, opening up new markets for merchants who might not be able to afford them otherwise." What you may not be aware of though is that my entire hypergate network will flow through a central station. A trade hub located in the farthest depths of space, connected to the rest of the galaxy though the hypergates. Hypergates which will be closed to militarized traffic, while security at the station will be provided by Strill, a name that many of us trust and do business with. A truly neutral station dedicated to trade, and a location as secure as it's possible to make it. But, what's more, sitting at the hub of the hypergate network offices there would provide an opportunity to easily acquire information, and provide direction as we might all need. It might not have the tropical climate of some planets, but as a central hub, I think the Exchange would provide us with everything we might hope for. And hidden in the very depths of space, it's far outside of any governments control, I'll also be allowing the IGBC primacy in appointing a local commander to run the station, to create a truly neutral trade and safe hub."

John raised a hand, waving away the staff carrying refreshments as he let his gaze settle on Derron, nodding at the man.

"I have to agree with Mr Daks, actual combat operations against the Dark Empire should be seen as a last resort, if we have to engage in an active war against them then the galaxy has truly fallen on hard times. We're businessmen, not politicians, our power is measured in the economy and influence, not in the number of ships or soldiers we can field. If you want to see a blow struck against hte Dark Empire, then I'd recommend instead of trying to do something we're wholly ill-suited for, use your resources and capabilities to provide resources and support to those who are built for war. Use your influence to suggest the Alliance, or another major power engage in the war instead of us. Bribing politicians, and influencing governments is something we have to do regardless and would be a much more effective use of our time. We've already voted to embargo the Dark Empire and nothing more, Since it seems like the majority of us here aren't in favour of changing that decision, I think we can shelf the idea of doing anything more there."

"I will echo the others though, I am very interested in hearing more about the new Sith policy Ms Raaf."

Danger took a delicate sip from her water glass, letting the coolness soothe her as she listened thoughtfully to each member's input. Taeli's points about implementing a rotation struck a fine chord, as did the remarks from Makai, Chu Chuchi, Braze, and Derron Daks -- all offering keen insights that spoke to their expertise.

Yet, it was the proposed legislation for Sith Order territory that truly delighted her. A subtle smile lifted the corners of her full red lips, and she inclined her head in quiet satisfaction. If the legislation passed, she'd finally have a viable region to transfer assets from the Brexant Run, avoiding the Dark Empire's tightening grip. Catching Taeli's eye, Danger raised her glass in a silent toast -- a small, shared acknowledgment of what a victory this could be.

Makai soon raised a valid question: would there be penalties for businesses that worked with other regions? From Danger's experience, the Sith Order had not imposed such restrictions in the past, so she wasn't overly concerned, but the point was well taken. The Marquis's question about tariffs on local goods versus imports also merited attention.

Then, of course, there was John Locke -- whose way with words always impressed her. His proposal for the Hypergate project with Locke and Key was the very idea she'd been waiting for, and Danger's posture reflected her excitement as she sat up straighter, leaning forward with fingers steepled as she examined the details. This project held the potential to sidestep Dark Empire blockades along the Brexant Run and even parts of the Hydian Way.

"Why, Mistah Locke, I am mighty intrigued by your Hypergate Project," she drawled, a spark of anticipation in her voice.

"If this Sith Order legislation turns out to be the boon we're hoping for, it could allow us to tie both efforts together -- the relocation of assets along the Brexant Run for those at risk from the Dark Empire, and, perhaps, a wider reach beyond. Now, I do agree with you on doing more than the established embargo; there's no need to put more resources toward meddling with those limitations when they'd be far better spent on expanding our own interests.

"Any company may act on its own, true enough,"
she continued, nodding to the room, "but Mistah Locke's right -- it be best served by supporting those positioned to contend with the Dark Empire, those equipped to handle a fight, so to speak."

When it was offered, Chi took the non-alcoholic berry wine, passing on the rest. It was nice to see everyone pulling together to offer more help than lip service to one of their own. The acknowledgement between Danger and Taeli didn't go unnoticed either, giving her more to think about as she leaned back in her chair more than her usual proper self normally would have in public. At least they seemed to be past the notion of attacking the Dark Empire.

Perhaps it was time to reevaluate things. Particularly where the Sith were concerned. Unbelievable as it was, they'd been the voice of reason on the galactic trade stage lately, despite their warmongering and stated desire to rule the galaxy. Danger and the others even seemed approving, which left her the odd woman out. Staring out the window, she suddenly felt very empty. Had all her fear and preparations for the invasion of her Pantoran home been for naught but fear and ancient history? Well no, they had bombed the moon once already, and she knew their record of invading. Individuals might be one thing, but she wasn't open to setting up a location in tacit approval of their regime just yet. There was also her position as Representative to the Alliance to consider. They likely wouldn't appreciate it if she started direct trade with their Southern rivals. Others could be interested in the new trade bill, but she was in a unique position of indulging being worse for her image at home and abroad than not.

"Tell us more about these Gates Mr Locke. I was under the impression that the majority of them were close to existing lanes or would simply alter the lanes leading to and from them. What sort of cost is there to using them? And do you foresee historic trade hubs and service sectors along historic routes suffering from a drop in traffic?" She was curious about them now. If they effected widespread change in traffic patterns, the upheaval could potentially be disastrous. Not just economically, which often lead to criminality, but less trade meant less need to patrol the lanes. The knock on effect could have raiders growing bolder.

She would offer a small smile and incline her in acknowledgement to Danger, foregoing any refreshments herself with a polite gesture of her head and hand gesture. It was not that she didn't trust their host, but she refrained from alcoholic beverages as a principle and she abhorred smoking. If her wife had been present, she would attest to the fact that Taeli had to periodically hunt down her supply of cigarras and dispose of them to try and break her of the habit.

While was very curious about the hypergates from Locke and Key and how John intended for the system to work, especially considering Aurora was in the process of developing their own hypergate, she would turn to address Makai first. Her datapad beeped that the legislation had passed through an overwhelming majority of the Assembly, although she did note Gerwald and his small bloc had opposed it. Curious.

"As the author of the legislation, Makai, I can assure you that there are no penalties for companies doing business elsewhere in the galaxy. I've always been of the opinion that business is business and should be kept separate, to a degree, from political considerations. Now if a company were found to be engaging in espionage efforts against us, well that is a different story, but per the legislation, no penalties for business dealings elsewhere."

She had learned long ago, by a certain degree of mentorship from the Trade Queen herself, that business should be kept separate and neutral.

"To your point, Marquis, the levies are only collected at the border or at certain planetary trade checkpoints," she would add. "Internal movement of goods and resources within the Sith Empire would not incur costs for the most part unless it passes through one of those, which are yet to be determined."

She had done that somewhat deliberately when drafting the legislation, incentivizing the corporations that took advantage of this legislation to lean even further into development of assets within the territory controlled by the Sith. If the internal environment of the Sith Empire essentially acted as a free trade zone, it would draw even further investment and expansion of corporate assets and infrastructure within the Empire.

"If I may," she would gesture at the conference room's holoprojector before bringing up a map of four sectors within the Sith Empire. "As a testbed for the legislation and for interested parties, of which the offers of first stakes go to those gathered here, I'll be sponsoring in my position within the Sith government a development of the Grumani, Kallea, Anoat, and Subterrel sectors as a targeted first phase to see what sort of investment and development could be pulled in. If all goes well, the plan is to expand further phases of development."

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
She had no intention of joining in it but reading the proposal as Taeli showed them... she didn't deny it was much better thought out then some others. Putting the pad back on the table as she just nodded her head. "Good luck." She could disagree with Aurora but they were all here for the reason of the guild and hostility between them didn't need to be there... they operated in vary different areas of the galaxy. John Lockes gates also being subject of interest was there and she wanted to hear more while sitting more comfortably while she was going over some of the designs with her interfaces overlay... working on the designs of a few projects with small flicks of her fingers and eyes to adjust the screens.

The marquis attempted to listen not just to one, but practically all of the conversations being run within the conference room; noting that on the one hand, Danger Arceneau Danger Arceneau and John Locke John Locke had drifted off into the same subject as they had at the end of their last meeting; with the Hypergates of Locke and Key being mentioned. They did interest the Marquis, but considering the fact that the N&Z had its own fully operational fleet of transport ships, these hypergates did somewhat threaten the furture of the transportation market, cutting out the middle man either completely or at least in great capacity. However, perhaps this he could possibly bring up at the next meeting or when Locke & Key would finally present their product to the market.

Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf 's very simple, succinct and concise response to the Marquis' question and that of Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell made the bill from the Sith Order all the more interesting and potentially insanely lucrative. If the N&Z could effectively take even only a five to ten percent market share within the Sith Order's expansive market, it could very well propel the company to new heights. As such, hearing that the tariffs only count on goods and materials brought from outside of the Sith Order's sovereign territory made establishing an industrial network within the faction's territory all the more interesting. With a glance, the Marquis turned to Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell , wondering if the young Dashiell had come to the same conclusion as he had done.

"Lady Raaf, if you are willing to, the N&Z would be most willing to engage in talks with AUrora Industries in terms of possible cooperatives within the Sith Order Territory,"

It seemed that the Skakoan's assessment of the situation was not acceptable to the major powers at the table, certainly not to the Mastermind of Locke & Key John Locke John Locke who made his own opinion very clear on how the guild would be able to profit from the Alliance's defeat by the Dark Empire which begs to question.

If these corporations were indeed aware of the economic state of the Galactic Alliance down to the last credit, it stood to reason that they could have communicated this information without his involvement in the discussion. It certainly painted him as a blundering fool when it came to economic expertise, and such a blow to his reputation real or imagined was intolerable.

"How you profit from the Alliance's defeat is none of my concern, I have laid down the figures as requested. " Laborr said with nary a polite gesture, suppressing the frustrations in the presence of his peers, preferring to let them simmer in the recesses of his mind. This strategy would ultimately serve him when he leveraged the Guild to secure the Trade Federation's dominance within the corporate landscape.

Laborr remained silent, casting a glare at the Queen of Trade Danger Arceneau Danger Arceneau whose peaceful nature had spread to the rest of the members like a wildfire, much more concerned with the people over direct wealth accumulation. He was to be an outcast in a sea of thieves, although that did not stop him from listening as each delegation explained their position on the various topics at hand.

The Hypergate Project was one such endeavor that the Viceroy would profit from, along with the announcement regarding the Sith Order's decision to permit development of worlds within their territory which would bolster their economic state. "The Trade Federation's stance on these two matters will be clear, in that we support any Hypergate Expansion for the protection of fair and free commerce and will offer assistance as we deem necessary" He directed such comments at John Locke John Locke .

"In my viewpoint...this legislation is merely a way for the Sith Empire to integrate themselves back into the Galactic Economy after failing to gain economic traction with guild-based state-run enterprises, drawing a parallel to the Confederacy First Mandate which failed considerably. If you are serious in reapproaching with the Corporate Community, then clearly the Sith-Imperial Banking Clan should be reabsorbed into the Banking Clan chaired by John Locke John Locke , since the Sith Empire unlawfully took assets and resources belonging to them." Laborr explained to Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf

Derron considered the possibility of making a home within the confines of the Sith government, and could not deny that he had reservations.

"My chief concern with integrating DDSI's operations into space governed any of the major powers, is the thought of what may happen when major conflicts flare up again.

My probability estimates indicate that there is great likelihood of a new trade restriction being introduced by one or all of the major powers in response to the stresses of galactic conflict. This is compounded by the religious nature of the Sith faction.

GA witch-hunting and the Sith religious dedication to Power and Control are likely to butt against one another in a chaotic cloud of interaction.

When conflict heats up, we may find ourselves back in the current straits, trying to navigate ourselves to economic security.

This is why I found a presence well outside of major national borders to be so alluring."

He looked across at the other participants, wondering if he was alone in his concerns.
