Lilla found a few references to another technique but few details – certainly not enough to differentiate it as a separate form of meditation. It was called Warrior’s Trance and was the term that the Jedi Meetra Surik gave to her form of pre-battle meditation.

“On Tython, you’d use a meditation chamber to achieve a “Susheer State” of serenity. But every culture has similar rituals—we’ll make do with what Rishi provides.”
― Kutri O’a

Whereas many forms of meditation had a generic purpose, and others a more specific use, Susheer State was a mental condition achieved through meditation that was used by the Jedi Order to construct holocrons during the era of the Cold War and Galactic War.

Lilla found that a Jedi would use a meditation chamber, to achieve such a state and thus attune their mind to the Force; such a state often resulted in dreams and visions of the past and future. Lilla wondered if Master Kenobi had used this technique, perhaps in ignorance, to construct his holocron. She resolved to ask him.

An extreme form of meditation was known to have significant outcomes. Lilla came across the Deprivation Ritual, which was a form of meditation where a Jedi was suspended in a liquid tank with a slowly decreasing air supply, which allowed them to become one with the Force as much as possible without dying.

Apparently Jedi Master Yoda underwent a deprivation ritual during the Clone Wars after he was contacted by the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn. Undergoing the ritual, he communed with Jinn once again, and was told to go to Dagobah.

The rest, as they say, was history.

224: “Supreme Leader, we found the Jedi.”
Ventress: “Excellent. Where is he?”
224: “He’s just sitting here in front of our tanks.”
Ventress: “Shoot him! Shoot him now!”
― Asajj Ventress to OOM command battle droid 224

After uncovering some interesting but largely useless forms of meditation, Lilla came across one with a significant benefit, that she practised from the moment she learned of it.

Serenity was a brief meditative state that a Jedi could enter into to regain focus and power. Because it required patience, inner strength, and a deep connection to the Force, this ability was only attainable by experienced Jedi – which by now Lilla was.

Lilla’s research regularly extended outside of the Jedi’s practices. One such discovery was the Meditation of Immersion.

Meditation of Immersion was a Fallanassi Force technique that stilled the mental and physical state of the Force-user who performed it to a profound level. This allowed the user to attain an almost direct contact with the White Current. In this state, the Fallanassi could become completely invisible, or project images around them with vivid clarity.

This led Lilla to seek more information about White Current – and is the subject of a different chapter in a different book.

As Lilla progressed in her development, more and more abilities became available to her. She was mindful not to over-extend herself and be expected to carry on the training in too many Force powers. There were not sufficient hours in the day to maintain too many powers, and she wanted to be competent in all that she knew – and a master of at least a few.

But every now and then, something new came to her attention and she learned it. Such as Force Valor.

The training was long and arduous, but finally she learned the technique that owed a lot of its origins to meditation.

When used effectively, Lilla could increase the resolve, accuracy, and speed of her actions and – over time – was ble to extend that to allies. By tapping into the Force, Lilla could increase the rate at which her capacities functioned, allowing her body to move more quickly, strike more powerfully, and fight with improved accuracy.

“With sufficient concentration, a Jedi—such as you or I—can strengthen the hopes of our allies and heighten the fears of our enemies…thus, what the armies know in their hearts must become true… because they believe it so strongly.”
― Odan Urr

Arguably Lilla’s greatest challenge to learn as an ability was Battle Meditation. It took many years and took much of her knowledge of meditation and other abilities to accomplish, but she saw it as a road worth travelling.

Battle Meditation was a Force ability that considerably boosted the morale, stamina, and overall battle prowess of an individual’s allies while simultaneously reducing the opposition’s combat-effectiveness by eroding their will to fight.

In its simplest terms, Battle Meditation was the ability to use the Force to coordinate allies and even entire fleets of ships, allowing them to perform at maximum efficiency, acting as a single entity with the ability to counter every enemy move quickly and effectively. Though ideal for meditating large-scale conflicts, Battle Meditation was also effective when employed for the benefit of one’s comrades in small skirmishes, attacks, and duels.

It could also be used to simultaneously demoralise your opponents, reducing their combat effectiveness.
