Coming Home From Apatros

Saryana Lynae

New Beginnings Are Found In The Strangest Places
Saryana walked back into the apartment she and will shared and dropped her bag by the door. She was exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally. The young Togruta had changed a lot after everything she had witnessed on Apatros. She had a much less cheerful demeanor and her smiles had become a lot less frequent. She was having so much difficulty processing everything that she had seen and experienced. All of the screaming, the smell of rotting flesh, and the sounds of blaster fire in the distance haunted her dreams at night. The trip back from the battle was a rough one. She barely slept, she didn't eat much, and when she did sleep she was plagued by nightmares. The young healer was so frustrated she turned around and punched the wall beside the door as hard as she could, busting open the skin on her knuckles and leaving a fist shaped hole in the wall. She was broken. [member="William Seraven"]

Unlike Sary, I had elected t stay on Veradune, hoping to learn about and see more of my ancestral home But now, without any work to do, he was sleeping on his couch, for some reason finding it more comfortable than the bed. Well, at least he would be sleeping is a loud bang didn't forcefully wake him from his slumber. Quickly getting up from his couch he whirled around to enter [member="Saryana Lynae"]'s room. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Saryana replied, panting softly due to her anger. She forced herself to breathe deeply, trying to calm down the whirlwind inside her mind. The young healer turned and looked at her boyfriend. "I'm sorry I woke you just... It was... Really rough being out there," Saryana explained softly, going to sit down on her bed. She hung her her, training her eyes on her feet. Her montrals even appeared to droop with the change in posture. [member="William Seraven"]

I let out a small sigh as I looked down, noticing the broken skin on her hand. Walking over, I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her cheek. "You should be more careful with your hands. After all, I love seeing the drawings you make with them." I offered a small smiled to her and flicked my tail. "So, i guess you saw a reminder that the Galaxy isn't always as pretty as Veradune?"

"Nothing in life could have prepared me for this. There was so much screaming and... and gore and bloodshed. It never... It never stopped... The entire time I was there... I had to help amputate limbs and heal terrible wounds... I lost patients. I watched innocent people being slaughtered because they got caught in crossfire trying to run from the battle. When I worked in the cantina... Every hot shot soldier always had a war story to tell... But all that talk of glory and honor... It doesn't mean anything. Real battles aren't full of honor and glory. A real battle is full of death, despair, and screams. I never want to see it again, but I know that I have too. I have to be there to heal people... To take care of the aftermath and the consequences," Saryana didn't even realize she was leaning against will and crying halfway through her speech. The poor sixteen year old seemed to have gained a few years of life experience in such a short period of time. [member="William Seraven"]

I pulled her a bit closer and turned to sit on the bed, pulling Saryana down with me. "I'm sorry." Honestly, I couldn't think of anything else to say. As a person who had seen death as she described, I knew that there were no words to describe it. She was right. Glory was a lie told to keep the men running. But whenever a person had the chance to see past that lie, it was always a living glimpse of hell. "I guess that's what being a Vitae means. Being in that hell so others can enjoy paradise."

"I know... I know I helped alot of people... And there are a lot of people that are alive now because of me... But its the ones I couldn't save that my brain is hellbent on focusing on. I don't know how to change that. I don't know what to do. I can't just go one pretending nothing happened and that I'm okay," Saryana whined, sniffling as she continued to cry into Will's shoulder. There would definitely be a growing patch of wet cloth on his shirt. [member="William Seraven"]

I ran my hand up and down her back as she cried into me, simply letting y head rest on her shoulder. "There's nothing you can do but think of those that you did save and keep alive the memory of those you didn't. You tried. You showed them that there is someone trying to help ad even if those last moments were hell, I'm sure your attempt to heal them was a welcome light."

Saryana nodded, cuddling closer to Will and shifting her head to his chest. She finally stopped crying after a few moments and looked up at him. She leaned up to kiss him softly, and smiled a little. "Thank you. How do you always know what to say to make me feel better? I swear you're magical or something," she joked a little, laughing softly as she continued to cuddle him. I gave a small shrug as we kissed, smiling against her lips. "Guess I just know where you've been." Her increasing happiness caused my tail to wag a bit. After all, I hated seeing her sad, and it was good to see her smile again. "So, what do you want to do now that you're back home?" I pulled away from the kiss, allowing her some room to answer.

"I wanna take a nap, cuddle you, and... I don't know what else so for now just snuggle with me until I no longer feel like shit," Saryana replied, hugging him and pulling him back down onto the bed with her. She snuggled against him, her head resting against his chest. The young healer was damn near ready to drop dead from how tired she was after everything that had occurred. She really had no idea what she would do once she rested, but she was sure and Will could think of something. [member="William Seraven"]

I smiled at her words and curled up with her on the bed, my tail fluffing up as it wrapped around her waist and midsection. "That sounds like a good plan to me." My smirk still in action, I laid down on the bed, my arms wrapped around her. After all, ho was I to deny my girlfriend cuddles when she was feeling down. Last I checked, I wasn't quite that foolish.

Saryana fell asleep rather quickly. She didn't have nightmares for once as she cuddled into Will's embrace and slept soundly for the first time in awhile. The young healer knew her problems wouldn't go away that quickly, but with Will next to her she could atleast pretend things were alright for awhile. After a few hours she awoke, carefully sliding out of bed to avoid waking Will and went to the kitchen. She found a pack of nerf steaks in the fridge and began the process of frying them up, along with making mashed potatoes and whatever vegetable she could locate in their cupboards. Soon after Sary fell asleep, I joined her in slumber, nuzzling a bit into the girl as I rested. It was always good when we got to do this. She was a comfy person to sleep with, and it was always even better when I woke to the smell of food, even if it meant she was no longer resting beside me. With a few sniffs, I managed to peg down what she was making and soon after I got up to walk to the kitchen. "Doin' better?"

"A little bit.. Cooking is a good distraction... And having you nearby helps alot. It was just... A really big shock to the system, you know? I've never seen anything like that before," The young Togrutan explained as she divided some of the food onto two plates. She hand one of them to Will and walked into the livingroom, plopping down on the couch to eat. She was doing a bit better, but she didn't think anything would ever fully heal the mental and emotional wounds that battle had inflicted. [member="William Seraven"]

I grinned and leaned against the door way to watch her cook. "Yeah I know. Saw quite a few things when I was travelling around." I followed her to the couch and sat close, my tail going around her waist. "But, you've got a place to return to, good food to cook and ease your mind with, and me for anything else." I pressed a kiss to her lips. "Just have to remember all the good things."

Saryana nodded but then another thought came to her mind and she turned to look at Will, biting her lip a bit. "About that... There's something else I need to tell you," Sary replied, setting her plate down for a minute, with only half the food gone. She turned to her boyfriend, giving him a very serious look. "We uh... We might have a problem..." [member="William Seraven"]

My ears flicked in her direction as I took a bite of the steak and cast a glance over to her. "Yeah, what is it?" My life was filled with problems, granted many I'd brought upon my self, but over the years I'd learned that there was nothing I couldn't handle. Or so it often seemed. So, I figured that whatever she had to say, as usual I could think of a way past it.

"I think... I think I might be... Uh... Um... Will I think I'm pregnant," she muttered, flushing in embarrassment and glancing down at her lap. She really hoped she was wrong, as she did not think she was ready to have a child yet. The Togruta did want kids at some point in her life, but now was not the time for that. She felt bad for having to scare Will like this, but it was better that he know about her fears now, in case they came true later. [member="William Seraven"]

"Oh, alright." I took another bite of the steak, waiting to hear the rest of what she had to say. Ought to be happy for her I guess, I mean pregnancy was a good thing and I wondered who the lucky guy w- "WAIT WHAT!?" I lurched forward, my hand banging onto the coffee table. I growled and grunted as I attempted to free my airways, finally managing it after a few moments. "P-pregnant?"
