Coming Home From Apatros

Saryana Lynae

New Beginnings Are Found In The Strangest Places
Saryana smiled and grabbed Will's hand, clinging to it as they walked down the street. After they got breakfast, Sary would have to go to the doctor to find out if she really was pregnant, but that could be worried about after they got food. The young Togruta could smell the food cooking as the neared the door to the little diner. It looked fairly new and old fashioned, but she had a feeling the food would be good. I brought the hand up to a small kiss and made my was into the restaurant with [member="Saryana Lynae"], taking a look around the place. As with all the other zorren restaurants, the tables were huge and mostly communal. While my people did respected privacy and one's wishes should they be left alone, they also loved to eat together. It was one of the things I had forgotten in my time away from my family. While I never grew p on Veradune, I at least remember how my family always ate together no matter where we were. "Want to join them, or find our own place to sit?"

Saryana giggled as Will kissed the back of her hand. She smiled even wider when they entered the restuarant. She shook her head when Will asked if she wanted to find their own place to sit. "No, I wanna see what your people are like. We can eat with them," she replied, smiling a bit as she followed him to one of the large tables. She had to reach over and pull the collar of the shirt she was wear up because it had begun slipping down her shoulder. Will was a bit bigger than her, so his shirts were a little loose when she wore them. [member="William Seraven"]

With my smiled widening, I wrapped my arm around her and made his way forward to the feasting table where I took a seat, gently pulling her down to sit next to me. Noticing a few looks that were sent our way, I couldn't help the small sheepish smile that grew on my lips. Then, as a woman came forward, I reached into my coat and pulled out several credits which I handed forward. Zorrens didn't believe in menus. Menus required courses. This was simply take and eat. "Dig in."

Saryana smiled, reaching for the first type of meat she could see. It happened to be a plate of nerf ribs, she smiled even wider when she realized this and eagerly began to devour them while trying to remain at least slightly lady-like and elegant looking. This image was ruined by the sauce that coated her face around her mouth within a matter of a few minutes. She blushed a bit beneath the food on her face, glancing at Will once to see how he was fairing. [member="William Seraven"]

I couldn't help but let out a few laughs at the sight of Sary before reaching over the table to grab a bottle of water, a three spouted lid, and a blue gem. "Enjoying yourself?" I dropped the gem into the water, then put on the cap. Putting my thumbs over two of the spouts, I placed my lips over the middle one as I listened for a response. As I waited, the water would fizz with a brilliant blue before rising up in the container.

Saryana nodded and smiled cheerfully at him. "Your people seem very nice. Living in a community like this must be wonderful! I wish I could have grown up in a society that cared so much about each other," Saryana replied, staring curiously at whatever he was drinking. It looked quite interesting and she was rather curious how it worked. [member="William Seraven"]

I smiled and listened to her words, unable to respond as he drink bubbled up in a fizzing frenzy. After a few seconds, I lighted one thumb and then other other only a few moments later. Once the glass had fizzed itself out, I tipped back to drink the remainder. "Well, we do like to stay close together since there's not many of us left."

"I grew up as a slave and a dancer. It's... Not the most nurturing environment. I can't imagine it's been easy for you either, but it must be nice now. Having a home like this now," Saryana replied, grabbing another random dish of food and a random drink from the table. She was a little overwhelmed by the entire situation, but she was determined not to let the strangeness of it all get to her. It was just something she needed to get used to. With a smirk, I leaned over to kiss her cheek. "You tell me. Its your home too." I went back to take another bite. "Sure, its my people. But our culture accepts all." I poked her side. "Even ex-slaves and dancers." My tail flicked behind me then went around her as we ate. To be zorren was one kinship. But to be veran, was another and just as important.

Saryana blushed as she felt Will pull her close using his tail. She giggled a little and leaned against him, going back to eating and just enjoying the wonderful sense of community being in this place offered. She had never seen such a kind, caring group of people. They all seemed as if they were some large family, and they all smiled at her and welcomed her into their cheer without a second thought. She was no different to them than any of the other sitting at the table. It made her smiled even more as she realized what Will said was true. "Maybe you're right." [member="William Seraven"]

I felt a bump on my right shoulder and turned from Sary for a moment to see a large wolf of a man. Though he had the same flicking ears and claws of a zorren, his lack of any tail made it fairly obvious that he was one of the halfbreeds of the species. "And it seems as though you've done right to welcome her in, eh lad?" There was a light and a fire in his eyes. Something I had seen a million times before in the bars of my life. Though, it was slightly different. "And what s it to you if I'm the one who welcomes?"

Saryana watched the exchange with a mixture of nervousness and excitement. She was slowly realizing how little she really knew about Zorrens and their culture. She wondered if their was a library or something on Veradune that might have books relevant to those topics. Maybe if she read about them, and studied them more, she wouldn't feel so out of place among them as she slowly became a part of their culture and society. Afterall, she had no intentions of ever leaving Will, so learning about his people would be a good thing for both of them. [member="William Seraven"]
