OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Conduit mushroom
  • Origins: Pre-ecumenopolis Skako
  • Other Locations: Other ecumenopolises that still retain some of their natural world (Coruscant, Taris, etc)
  • Classification: Fungi
  • Average Growth Cycle: 4 days from spore to fully-active organism, can live for up to another 5 weeks before expiring
  • Viability: Requires electrical currents, moisture-heavy and dark environs for survivability
  • Description: Similar to a conduit worm in size and behavior. Where conduit worms require standard reproduction to spread, conduit mushrooms use spores to waft through the deep undercities and find new sites to gently settle and grow.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Average Height: Mycelium structures are only centimeters wide at the most
  • Average Length: Potentially hundreds of meters
  • Color: Gray-brown
  • Nutritional Value: None
  • Toxicity: None
  • Other Effects: Tastes disgusting
  • Distinctions: Unlike conduit worms, conduit mushrooms do not have the same motility or adaptability to their environment. A conduit mushroom will not seek cranial electricity.
Strengths:
  • Broad adaptability in the undercities of heavily-populated planets
  • Spores allow for quick and broad repopulation if necessary
Weaknesses:
  • No natural defenses other than the ability to spore
  • A fragile body and dependency on available sources of electricity, similar to the conduit worm, makes it both easy to detect and easy to get rid of
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Just as the conduit worm developed in the growing undercities of Coruscant or Taris, the conduit mushroom grew in the undercity of Skako as it began to develop. Not a particularly notable species other than its ability to feed solely off of moisture and electricity, the conduit mushroom is a more prevalent species in non-Type-I atmospheres like Skako. It can also be found in undercities with atmospheres so vile and disgusting that one might need a rebreather just to walk from home to the market.
