He says that I will need to learn how to counter attack. I suppose that is true. Already he had parroted the old saying of 'the best defence is a good offence'. I don't know why the truth in those words didn't have any meaning to me. Until now, that is.
I see the new dagger drawn and pick up on it being made of wood. Did he have a secondary one like that? Mayhaps I could use one for practice here as well. At least then I wouldn't be afraid of cutting or impaling him. But perhaps he's confident enough in his own abilities to block every attempt at making contact with him that there was no need for my dagger to be made of wood. Yes his features surely showcase a hint of cockiness, and I don't find that to be a bad thing at all. And still I am more than thankful for his treatment of me during these lessons, for I hardly think that I would do well if I was belittled constantly by my tutor. "Thank you. But during these lessons you are my superior. Outside of them is perhaps something else entirely." I know very little about him, so I am left with just assumptions. But all of that could change in time.
Instantly he rushes me and given that I was already inches from the wall, I didn't have far back to go. My jaw opened as the blade stops right in front if my face. And yet he kept moving, reaching out to grab me. By instinct I dropped to a crouch (there'd be no kneeling in this dress!) and swung my dagger left to right just at the top of his knees, hoping that it would get him to move away from me enough so that I can move away from the wall. Being cornered is certainly no good!
