Id suggest (for fluff reasons) making this a modern upgrade to the Bothan Assault Cruiser and using the same model.

I'd drop the length to 650m.

I'd swap the warhead launchers for heavy warhead launchers to go toe-toe with other cruisers.

I'd add a bare minimum of point defences.

Add a redundant shield generator.

DESCRIPTION

The Contention-class cruiser is the latest in the line of Bothan-designed heavy cruisers, tracing its lineage back to the New Republic mainstay. This cruiser is poised to become the most common ship of the line for the Confederacy, filling the capability gap of a compact destroyer that can go toe-to-toe with larger Star Destroyers when supported. The Contention Class Crusier is designed to provide a variety of firing options for ship to ship combat. Carrying a small number of piloted vessels, the Contention’s goal is to hold and destroy any enemy capital ships.

The ship was designed by Bothan engineers and construction was planned for Druckenwell. However, with the shipyards destroyed only a handful were in service. Following this, the Bothan designers sought a contractor to begin construction, but part of the arrangement was that some ships would be constructed at Bothawui, bringing a boost to the world’s economy. Subach-Innes won the competitive tender, following a lengthy bidding process. Construction has now begun in earnest on Bothawui and Hypori.

The Contention-class benefits from the manner of hull construction which has become standard in the Confederate Navy. Though it means additional weight, the hulls are reinforced through a combination of materials and metals that are each famed for their durability. Together, they allow the vessel to withstand an impressive amount of punishment in the event of shield droppage. The contention-class also has a lower than usual crew requirement, due to automation and droid personnel, much like other CIS ships of the line.
