Could Someone Explain Factions to Me?

I'm reading the rules now but the last board I was on was very strict. You chose either neutral, light, or dark... and then you joined. Eventually you could join 1 neutral and 1 Force using.

How does it work here? What section of the rules is most relevant. So far I've read about invasions and general rules and I'm still searching.

Sorry I'm a noob :/

KAT! First join a faction you like and see what works for your character. Each Faction from there has things they like to see, but mostly just be you and you won't have a problem...

Once you join a faction that fits best there are plenty of writers that will help you feel your way around...

Second! We really need yo fix the fact we keep popping up at the same places and have never RP'd!

[member="Yarva Adisu"] Thank you!

[member="Judah Lesan"] I would love to roleplay with you!

So ... can you join more than one faction? Do you have to join a dark faction if you are a darksider? Can you join a neutral faction if you use the Force?

Common sense.

If you're a Sith, don't join a faction of Lightsiders. They won't like you being there - but there's no site rules against it. You're free to join any faction you want with whoever you want, NFU, FU, Force Dead, whatever. There's no dividing lines between FU and NFU like at the Craftshop. Both can be in the same factions.

You can join more than one faction, but it keeps things simpler if only one of them is a major faction. Major factions are the ones on the map, which you'll find in the 'Holonet' menu at the top of the site. You can be in as many minor factions (ones not on the map) as you please. Eat your heart out!

... and if you want to play neutral you can as well... The system here really allows for there to be freedom in dictating how you want your character to develop.

Also you can check out a list of all my toons... Most are available to thread!

[member="Yarva Adisu"] [member="Siyndacha Aerin"] So basically I can do whatever I want... because there are no rules against it... but try to use common sense. If you are a Jedi and you join Sith... then don't come crying to the admins when you get killed?

Does that sound right?

Thank you! I will look!

And also you don't have to join a faction to train and get a rank? You just need a master? Right?

Factions are player created and player moderated groups. They can take two forms,
  • Major
  • Minor
A Major Faction can:
  • Own Planets on the Map
  • Engage in FvF: Invasions (PvP), Dominions (PvE), and general political shenanigans.
  • Have a limitless Fleet capacity
A Minor Faction is:
  • Simply a group of like minded writers who adventure and thread together.
  • They can rise to Major Faction status at their leisure. When they meet the requirements, of course.

Rules etc. can be found on the Top Bar. FYI:

  • You can join multiple Factions
  • Factions are the primary method of ranking up Force Users
  • Selecting 'Factions' on the Top Bar will take you to the menu for browsing all Factions
  • Factions generally have an IC theme. Such as being Sith, Jedi, Smugglers, or Imperials.

(Oh wow. You guys post fast.) :D

[member="Jay Scott Clark"] Thank you! I clicked on Rules up there but most of the rules were centered around creating a faction. I couldn't find the part about joining.

I just don't want to mess up and do the wrong thing. At the last board I was at you stepped out of line and you got screamed at. I don't want to upset anybody here because I like it here.

[member="Yarva Adisu"] thank you!

Staff only gets involved when members can't solve a dispute between themselves, or when serious rule breaking is brought to our attention. Most of our rules are common sense.

'Don't be a bully.'

'Keep it PG-13.'

etc.

I can handle all that.

So what I"m getting right now is I'm free to make my own path in the galaxy. Join what factions make sense to me. Try not to piss people off. Just do me.

I think I can handle that

This website was created to avoid such 'other' shenanigans. Such as signing contracts, caring about running, and being at the mercy of other peoples whimsical craziness.

Welcome to the future. Welcome to CHAOS. :D

I like how chaotic Chaos is. It makes it feel like a real galaxy. I don't understand everything yet but thats sorta part of the fun

Unless Jonhny Depp shows then we're all in trouble! :p

I don't think you need to train, but it sure helps for thread count and faction involvement to get the votes... or transfer in...

Yes Johnny Depp would change things!

How do Dark Jedi and Grey Jedi work? Those weren't allowed at the other place I was at.

What is the difference between a dark Jedi and a grey Jedi? Are they darksiders?
