Crashing the Lake

Lori nodded to [member="Akabane"] as she agreed with him once again, glad that she had been able to escape the Sith Empire as well. "I'd probably be a slave or worse if I hadn't of gotten out." Not like she'd of done well as a slave. Liri was so willful and stubborn that she just assumed that she'd never be broken like that.

And then he gave some advice, or rather pulled out some wise saying out from the air. Did Akabane read that from the holonet or something? "Well ever since then I have stayed well away from any superpower. I just go wherever the next shipment or jobs take me mostly. And never do they take me into conflicts. I try to stick to neutral territory as much as I can. It's better for me and my family that way." With the Mando/Jedi war that waged on that tore her family apart, she was told to stay away and so that is what she was doing.

She informed him of her possible life after being captured. A slave or something far worse onthe food chain would likely be her position. That was horrible. Akabane hated slavery and the thought of seeing this young lady being one made him angry. He concealed those emotion though, so he wouldn't mislead her into thinking he was angry at her.

Once again, Akabane wasn't sure where his words came from. He had ventured into war at a time but he never experienced too much difficulty, or not enough to come up with those words. Either way, he listened for her response. She told him about her avoiding any superpowers, sticking to other jobs instead. It never got her involved in conflicts. Staying in neutral territory kept her and her family safe. He understood well and it seemed as if she was smarter than he thought. "I'm happy to hear that, Miss. Life is too chaotic these days so that would be ideal. Do you see your family often?"

As [member="Akabane"] asked her about her seeing her family often, Lori just furrowed her brows a little and slowly shook her head. "Hardly ever these days. The last time that we were all together was...years ago. Everyone's lives are so different..." She thought of her Dad telling her to stay away from the Mandos, lest she get caught up in the wrong side of war; one in which her Dad and brother fought on the other side. And then there was her Mom, caught in the middle of things as much as herself, but she had troubles of her own.

"I don't expect that we'll all be together ever again, and I've accepted that. I can't dwell on it or let myself become sad over it. I'll just have to make my own family." And she's tried using her ship's crew for that. However it was tough given that keeping crew members was a tough thing to do these days.

"What about you? Do you see your family often?"

The Captain told him it had been years since she'd seen them all. Life varying for each member, and too difficult to come together with different lifestyles, or something like that. Akabane understood what she was saying and it was sad to see someone go without seeing their family for so long. She claimed to have come to terms with the fact that they may never be together again. Lori had no intention of letting that get her down though, instead focusing on rebuilding a new family with her crew. Her attempt was quite inspiring and he admired this resolve she had. Akabane didn't expect such strength to come from within. He nodded and smiled. "You're strong, Cap'n."

Akabane had the question flipped around on himself. She asked him the same exact question and he somehow found himself surprised. Not many people cared about his life enough to have these inquiries. He had to take a second to make sure he heard correctly as such. After a sigh he turned around to face the Lori. "I don't remember much about my family but I am certain they are gone. No one has contacted me yet so i think it's safe to say they poofed." Akabane also didn't let their separation get to him. Plus, he's met many awesome people who work business and such with him. He stays busy and keeps his focus on work. Leaving no time to think about it.

Lori smiled a little in spite of herself as [member="Akabane"] gave her a compliment. She was half expecting him to tell her to go find her family, but she wasn't ready. Surely the'd of all accomplished great things while she was still trying to figure her own path out. So the time for that would be when she had something good to tell them about. She just wanted them to be proud of her and not just to think of her as 'Goofball Lori.'

Her eyebrows rose in surprise ashe told her that he didn't remember his own family much. And of course it saddened her to hear that he figured that they were all dead. "Oh...I'm sorry. I hope that your memories are fond ones, at least?" Maybe Akabane has done what she's been doing and created his own family; one made from friends and coworkers or employees. He didn't appear to be lonely at any rate. His mannerisms just showed more of contentment than anything else.
