TECHNICAL INFORMATION

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • All-terrain treads
  • Repulsorlift
  • Ability to sync with personal devices for real time data collection.
Strengths:
  • Nerd—This little droid is programmed to rove around unknown territory and collect data on everything it comes across. In this sense, it is well equipped.
Weaknesses:
  • Defenseless—Aside from a small underpowered blaster and a relatively study body, this droid doesn’t have much in the way of on board defenses. No shielding, nothing big to defend it from a hostile enemy.
DESCRIPTION

The CS EV02 Probe Droid is a product designed to rove around unknown terrain sampling the environment and providing feedback. Not fragile, though not indestructible, this droid is comfortably sturdy given that it is constructed from an alloy of enviromesh (treated agrinium) and durasteel. The enviromesh provides resistance to radiation, heat and most naturally occurring corrosive chemicals. While this droid is resistant to the preceding elements, it is not impervious to them. Extreme or prolonged exposure can cause the droid or its components to malfunction.

As far as capabilities, this probe droid is fitted with Micro Analyzer which has four different modes:
  • Life: Provides information on the structure and nature of life forms including various stats such as heart rate, respiratory byproducts and biological signature.
  • Substance: Provides information on the structure of food, chemicals and drugs. Often used to detect poisons or other uncertainties in a substance, such as bacterial contamination.
  • Lab: Provides information of biological substances (blood, tissue, etc.) as a sort of portable medical lab.
  • Nature: Provides information on the content of soil, water and atmospheric conditions.
This allows the probe droid to accurately assess its environment as well as measure and store any necessary readings and samples. Physical samples can be collected and stored in a small chest compartment located at the front of the droid. Infrared and lifeform scanners allow the droid to be able to detect both flora and fauna, able to identify anything in its catalogue of substances and creatures.

The droid’s ‘eyes’ are both cameras which can be linked up to an external source in order to view still images or live feed. The ‘hands’ of this droid are clamps capable of applying very gentle pressure which is beneficial in handling delicate samples. The ‘wheels’ of the droid are treads that allow it to traverse different types of ground including sand, mountain, grass and urban. However, the droid cannot use treads to travel through swamps, excessive mud or water. In this case, the droid may switch to repulsor mode to continue traveling. However, repulsor mode can only be maintained for roughly and hour given that most of the droid’s energy resources go into collection and analysis.

While the droid is robust enough to survive trips through most hostile territory, it cannot withstand crushing blows or plasma weapons. While it does have a small blaster attachment, this droid is programmed to assess threats before fleeing. In most events where the droid judges a situation to be unsafe, it will simply flee. However, if it determines that the collection of data is more important than its survival, it will attempt to collect data regardless of danger. This most often happens when a droid is attempting to collect a sample of something it cannot identify, and therefore feels the programmed need to analyze it and add it to its catalogue. Because of this, it is imperative that the droid’s catalogue of substances and creatures be kept up to date and that any ‘suicide by data’ protocols be overwritten if necessary.
