Curious side effects of curiosity

Curiosity, one of the greatest driving forces for all sentient beings. Whether it's to know what's on the next page of a book, or know what's on the other side of the galaxy. Curiosity has propelled beings to seek answers to every question, and in turn have achieved incredible things in their search for knowledge.

Sometimes, however, to much curiosity can get someone in trouble. Milla is one such person who sometimes gets carried away by her curious nature. A nature that got her in a bit of trouble when she decided to mess with things she shouldn't have.

Planet: Kesh
Location: Currently med bay
Time: Early morning.

The last thing Milla remembered was being in a large room packed with old artifacts, artworks and other antiques. Some were on cases or hanging from walls, while others were still in storage. One in particular called to her. A round bronze colored ball with strange carvings etched into its surface. The object seemed to speak to her, drawing her in. When she touched it, a blinding flash of light engulfed her, and that's the last thing she remembered.

Milla's eyes slowly opened, only to be greeted by the bright lights of the med bay. She squinted and held up her hand to try and block it. Believing that it was still the bronze colored ball emitting it. Her mind was a foggy mess as she tried to work out exactly what was going on. After several moments she realized that it wasn't the the bronze ball emitting the light, but rather ceiling lights.

This was something she wasn't expecting. The artifact was gone, in fact the whole room was different. She glanced around and found that she was in a med bay now and not a room cluttered with antiquities. Her eyes panned down to the bed she was in and the hospital gown she was wearing. Which was strange because she didn't remember getting injured.

Her head had an unfamiliar heaviness to it, not a lot weight but just enough to know something was there. Not only that, but two spots in matching places on her head itched some. She reached up to feel what it was only to have her hand bump into something solid. Milla paused at the touch at first, then slowly began to feel the two solid objects that seemed to be attached to her head.

The young girl rolled out of bed, her legs almost giving out as she did. Once steadied, she moved over towards a mirror to see what was going on. The sight of her reflection made her freeze in place. Perched on top of her head, a few inches back from her brows, were a small set of horn. They were about an in diameter and stuck almost three inches in length, curving back slightly towards her ears.

Shaky hands reached up to touch them just to make sure they were real. The feeling of her fingers touching the horns confirmed that they were indeed real. Her blue eyes shifted from the horns to her face. She still looked normal, other than the obvious of course, which was a plus.

Milla danced from one foot to the next anxiously as she thought about why this happened. As she did she noticed her canine teeth were slightly longer and much sharper. Stepping back from the mirror, she changed out of the hospital gown and into a pair of brown cargo pants, a black tshirt and a pair of black combat boots. Milla then darted out of the med bay with one thought in mind. She needed to find Hannah.

[member="Hannah Charr"]

Hannah was having a great night’s sleep. Dreaming of chocolate goodies, pretty dresses, and finally getting that doll she always wanted. But it wasn’t available in this space, it was half across the galaxy! She huffed, waking up from her sleep as she rubbed her eyes. She stretched, slipping out of the small bed she was in.

In bright green pajamas, she went over to wrap her hair into a small ponytail. She was wondering where [member="Milla Ordo"] had gotten off to – she hadn’t seen her in a while. She wasn’t quite sure how long, but she knew it was too long. She walked over to the door to her bedroom, peeking it open. What was the whispering going on? She heard some guards talking about a missing girl from the med bay.

Hannah usually wasn’t one to assume the worst but… Man, did she assume the worst. It had to be Milla. Gone for too long, managing to end up in this med bay and the patient was a kid? But where would Milla go? She bit her lip as she slipped out past the guards, running down the hall too… Somewhere? She could only hope she’d somehow be guided to her. That Force thing would be perfect to somehow utilize.

Milla darted through the halls of the med bay. She wasn't sure how she got here or what was going on, but she needed to find a familiar face. Hannah was the most obvious choice since she was one of the people she trusted the most.

She didn't make it very far before she started to feel a burning sensation from her tailbone. At first it was just a slight discomfort, but the farther she ran the worse it got. Eventually it felt like her skin was on fire.

The running turned to walking as the pain increased, forcing her stop every once in a while. Her legs shook some from the feeling. She came to a stop when she felt sharp pain shoot up from her tailbone, causing her to almost double over. Whatever was happening now was not a fun feeling.

Shaking the pain as much as she could, she kept pushing forward. She tried jogging, but she couldn't keep a good pace. Milla quickly rounded a corner and almost ran straight into Hannah. "Hannah! Something...something's wrong with me! I have horns!" She exclaimed as she poipointed at the horns on her head.

Hannah knew something was wrong with [member="Milla Ordo"]. She couldn’t place her finger on it, but she just knew it had to have been her. It had to have been! She had to find her, had to find out… At least she knew Milla was alive if she had escaped from the medical room.

But suddenly, they both rounded a corner and nearly smashed into each other in what would have been a very brutal experience had they not caught themselves. “Milla!” She blinked as she stared at the horns. She reached out, carefully touching them. “Are you hurt? What happened? Do they hurt?” She asked, in rapid fire with barely a breath taken.

She was so worried for her friend.

Milla closed her eyes for a second when Hannah touched the horns. Thankfully they didn't hurt at all when she did. Opening her eyes, she tried to answer her friends questions. "N..no. They don't hurt. I'm not sure what happened. One minute I'm in a room filled with old stuff and there was this bronze ball thing. I touched it and there was a flash of white light. Then I woke up here, like this."

She winced again when another wave of hot pain shot through her. "I'm hurting other places and don't know why. It happened right after I left the room I was in."

Then it happened. A strong burst of pain shot through her tailbone, causing her to hold onto the wall and almost cry out in surprise. All at once, it felt like something was crawling down her pants. She could feel it, but somehow she could also feel her own leg. The moving stopped once it reached below her pant leg. Milla was almost to terrified to look down and see what it was. Slowly she looked down at her leg and stiffened at what she saw. Sticking almost a foot out of the bottom of her pant leg, was the end of what looked like a tail that came to a thin rounded point. What of it she could see was the same color as her skin and no more than half an inch in diameter near the tip while steadily increasing in thickness on the way up.

Milla stared at it for what felt like several very long moments. Her gaze then turned to Hannah with a look of shock and disbelief. "H..H...Hannah. Did...did I just grow a tail?"

[member="Hannah Charr"]

Hannah didn't really know what to say or do. Her friend didn't seem different except... The horns, which was odd. There wasn't any species that just spontaneously grew horns, were there? Hannah paused. Touched a bronze ball thing and it flashed white? Hannah had never heard of such a thing. "I... I'm not sure. But I'm sure you're okay since you're in the medical bay..." She said cautiously, unsure if [member="Milla Ordo"] was okay or not in truth. "I... I have no idea." Hannah hadn't experienced anything like this. She had no idea... She hadn't learned about it in school. "Maybe... You weren't fully human?" She offered.

Hannah jumped as Milla held onto the wall, one hand reaching out to help stabilize her. She stared at Milla, watching as some type of... Tail? Protruded through her pant's and slipped out the bottom, near her shoes. Hannah mouth dropped where she just stood, staring. She blinked, staring up at Milla. "I... Milla... I..." She stuttered, unsure of what to say. "I think you did! That's... Kinda cool?"

A tail, she had a tail. The confirmation from her friend was fully sinking it. This had to be a dream, a really bizarre realistic dream. As much as she wished, she knew it wasn't so.

Her eyes drifted down to the tail that poked out of her pant leg. Just seeing it made her body more aware of its existence and the fact that she could feel with it. "Kinda cool?" She echoed Hannah's words. Milla wasn't sure about how cool it was considering she didn't have one a few minutes ago. She focused on the tail for a few moments. Then, it twitched, causing her to jump some. Pausing only briefly, she focused on it again. This time it moved more the way she wanted it to. She then realized that she had full control of her new tail. "I...I can control it!"

She stepped back from the wall and cleared her mind. Closing her eyes, she focused on the tail. Slowly, it crawled back up her pant leg until most of it was hanging out of the top of her pants. "Okay, that's uncomfortable. I need to fix that, but...I'm not sure how."

[member="Hannah Charr"]

Hannah stared at the tail that was peeking out from her pants leg. It was creepy, there was no denying that. But it was also creepy how[member="Milla Ordo"] had horns on her head. How in the Force did she manage such a thing? Hannah wasn’t even sure what to say. How does one comfort a friend who just grew horns and a tail?

She shrugged a little. Hannah jumped as the tail twitched, landing a couple feet back with wide eyes. “You… Can control it? So… You aren’t fully human, then! Za..Brak? I don’t think they have tails, though,” she muttered as she tried to rationalize what was happening. “Scissors! We can cut a hole. And… I don’t know besides that,” she admitted.

Milla turned her attention to Hannah when she jumped. She wasn't surprised by that reaction, cause she would have to. A slight frown appeared on her face when Hannah mentioned that she might not be human. "But...I knew my paparents. They were human aand they most certainly didn't have horns and tailtails. So, I don't know."

Hannah's idea of cutting a hole for her tail to go through was a good idea. A quick fix for am interesting problem. "That'sThat's a good idea. Where can we get scissors?"

[member="Hannah Charr"]

Hannah also frowned. “S-sorry,” she muttered, hopeful that [member="Milla Ordo"] knew she wasn’t afraid of her. “I mean… Maybe they had them removed?” She suggested, hope for a normal reason disappearing. “I’m… Sure the doctors know! We… Let’s go back? But first… Scissors,” she muttered as she took Milla’s hand and ran towards a room that had some supplies.

Once there, she took the scissors but got distracted by the tail. “I… I mean, maybe they could remove it? But… It might just grow back…”

Milla had to admit, Hannah was a good friend despite whatever was happening here. As Hannah pulled her towards a supply closet, her mind drifted to what the other girl said. Maybe the doctors did know what was going on, she did kinda just dart out of the room.

As Hannah searched for scissors, Milla got distracted by her tail. She made to several different directions, testing what she could make it do and how well it responded. That was till her friend mentioned her tail and the possibility of removing it. "What? Oh...maybe. I'm not sure removing them right away would help. Cause they definitely didn't grow normally. I..don't think anyway."

She looked at the scissors in Hannah's hand. As much as she wanted help, this was something she probably need to do herself. "So, I should probably find somewhere to do this."

[member="Hannah Charr"]

Hannah could only hope the doctors knew what was happening. If they didn’t… Well, it was going to be pretty bad. What if it was some full body transformation? What if there was more and they didn’t know? Hannah had a minor panic before she shook her head as they entered the supply room.

This seemed to have happened pretty fast… Right? So… Hannah just watched, clearly distracted as her tail moved, twisted, and did… Things. “Oh… Uh, yeah, I’ll step out,” she muttered as she handed [member="Milla Ordo"] the scissors, stepping out.

“I’ll just be right outside,” she said as she closed the door.

Milla could tell that Hannah was clearly distracted by the whole thing. Honestly, she hadn't thought much about what others thought about it, since she was so focused on the why. So she wasn't surprised that people she knew would stare since it wasn't normal for this to happen.

She gave a nod as Hannah gave her the scissors and stepped outside. With a small sigh, she quickly undressed and tried to figure out exactly how she was going to do this. Almost cautiously, she grabbed her tail, and tried to measure its size close to the top. The feeling of holding her tail was weird at first, but it felt no different than grabbing her arm.

Milla then set about cutting a hole into both her underwear and pants. Starting with smaller cuts first than working up in size if it felt to small. Luckily, the second try got it almost perfectly to where it was comfortable and still fit snugly around the base of her tail.

Once dressed, she stepped out of the supply closet. Her tail barely brushed the floor as it hung lazily, and comfortably, while swinging slightly from side to side. "Well, that feels better."

[member="Hannah Charr"]

Hannah waited patiently outside the supply room for [member="Milla Ordo"] to do her thing. Her face was contorted in confusion. What could cause such a random occurrence? She didn’t understand how some object could cause… Well, that type of reaction.

Perhaps if Hannah talked to the doctors… They could explain it better to her. But would they even talk to her? She gave a smile as she saw Milla exit the supply room. “It looks more comfy,” she admitted. “Let’s go back to your room?” She asked, with a smile. “Maybe the doctors have answers…”

She gave a nod at her friends comment. "A lot comfier." A small frown crossed her features for a quick second as Hannah mentioned the doctors. Milla wasn't exactly a fan of them, but she really wanted to know what was going on. "Yeah. Let's head back."

She led the way back to the room. All the while she subtly moved her tail to practice with it. She was quite surprised that it moved so easily to her will and how well she was able to control it so far, almost like an extra hand.

As they entered the room, her tail stopped moving around and resumed lazily swinging from side to side. She stopped in the doorway as several people who looked like doctors turned to see who entered. Milla gave a hesitant smile, flashing a new canines as she did. "H..hi."

[member="Hannah Charr"]

Hannah gave a nod. She reached out, sensing the hesitation as she took her hand in hers. “I’ll be there,” she said with a warm smile. She wouldn’t let her friend go through this alone. She wanted to be there, to help her as much as she could.

And with that, they made their way to the room. Although, considering the very worried presence of people in the room, she knew they knew something they probably didn’t. She squeezed [member="Milla Ordo"]’s hand as she gave a nod to her. “I’ll be right here.”

Cassiopeia stood in the hospital room of a [member="Milla Ordo"]. A young woman, supposedly human, who had… Grown horns, according to the medical reports. She had been unconscious for a bit, as they brought her into a stable condition. Supposedly found after getting into some room she really shouldn’t have been in.

Being around Sith before, she had a few guesses on what could have caused a human to break out with horns. Although, she heard a quiet voice behind her as she turned to see a young Milla and another girl, Hannah. Must be the friend. She gave both a warm smile. “Are you Milla?” She asked with a smile, as she walked over and got down on her knees so she was face to face with the young girl.

“I’m Cassi. I’m from Mandalore. Your doctors here asked me to come to see if I could shed some light on your condition.” She spoke calmly, softly, motherly even. The poor girl… She had been alone, getting into this mess. She didn’t look at the horns – not yet. She needed to establish her relationship with the child first, then she could really talk more.

Milla was glad that Hannah was there, as she watched one of the doctors walk over to her and kneel down. She gave a small nod when the doctor asked if she was Milla. The doctor, Cassi as she introduced herself, said she was from Mandalore. This raised Milla's curiosity some. She seemed friendly, and spoke a lot calmer than she expected.

"O..okay." She said softly. Her eyes darted to Hannah, then back to Cassi. Milla hadn't noticed that her tail had wrapped around her leg from the nervousness, almost as if she was hugging herself with it. "What's going to happen?"

[member="Cassiopeia Caranthyr"]

Hannah watched the scene carefully. She trusted the doctors, especially since they even brought someone from so far away. Well, Mandalore wasn't that far way if she remembered the maps right... Ugh, she really wasn't good with that kind of stuff.

Hannah gave a nod to [member="Milla Ordo"], encouraging with a smile as she stood back, twiddling her fingers together.

Cassiopeia watched as the tail wrapped itself around her leg. A tail, too? That wasn't what the other doctors described - although, the doctors also seemed just as confused by the sudden appearance of the tail as well. Cassiopeia gave another smile to the young girl.

"Nothing you don't want to happen," she said as she stood. "Mind coming and sitting on the bed, for me? I would like to just take a closer look at the horns. We're waiting on some tests to come back now... Should be back any minute. "I know doctors can be scary," she confided with [member="Milla Ordo"]. "But we're only here to help you," and if Milla came towards the bed, Cassiopeia would help her onto it.
