Daddy's Not-So Little Girl

"Trust..."
She trusted Owain. Was that enough? And what was he saying about it being about the other person too? So, she was supposed to care about the other person. She understood that. Of course she wasn't going to, err, 'do it' with just anybody. She wasn't that stupid.

"So... you aren't mad, Daddy?"

"Well...if you haven't done anything you're going to regret later in life and that may have hurt you, then no," he replied honestly, sighing and leaning on his knees, staring out at the garden. "You're a bit young to have to worry about children and all," Keter added with a smirk.

Fifteen. She was fifteen. And he was right, although, the dangers of intimacy had never really crossed her mind. She had no choice but to take that as proof that everything her father said was true. She wasn't really ready, was she? This was a difficult thing to really think of. There were emotions involved that she had no experience with. Feelings she was only just now coming to terms with. Owain was a complication...

"Sorry daddy," she sighed, hanging her head, "You're right. I hadn't really thought about that."

Mom was young when she had Graxin. She told her all about it. Warned her. How had she been so stupid not to listen? She spoke of it all with such regret. But it hurt, giving up her first love like this. In this moment, she could think of nobody she wanted in her life more. But in a few years? A few months?
She had to be responsible. She was a Queens daughter. She was a Mason.

"Well, on some level you did, since nothing happened," he laughed, catching her sudden shift in mood. "Hey now Princess, it's alright. I mean, you can think about it now no? And remember, the key thing is communication. If you need to talk about things to someone, we're here for you. But if you think something is between you and someone else...well, that's yours and theirs business isn't it?" he quickly added. When young, it was easy to misunderstnad or simplify things. But he was not going to have another Talk with his duaghter about such a thing. "Look Felicity, just have no regrets, alright? Besides, if Graxin tries to stop you communicating, let me know," the blond added with a smirk.

Nothing wrong with her having a boyfriend and experiencing such emotions - its how one learned to cope with them after all. But no intimacy. Not at her age. That would be too much too soon.

Now she knew. Not everything could be learned in books, right? She was not mature enough to know. Not wise enough. She had so much to learn. Maybe some day she could learn them with that one special person. Maybe. Maybe that person will even be...
Well, that was up to him. She would wait, but there was no way of knowing if he would too.

"Grax? He won't," she promised, leaning in to embrace her father one more time, "He can't stop me. I'll message you once a week. I promise. You and mom."

"Good girl," he said, hugging her back. She was embarking on another adventure. He couldn't help but smile. His little girl, almost all grown up now. "I'll hold you to that," the blond said.

When she finally pulled away from her fathers embrace, there were tears in her eyes again, but she was smiling.

"Go see mom now. You know she misses you," she said leaning back, but her hands brushed against the book she had been reading, "Wait, here. Hold onto this."

She scooped up the book and held it out for her Father. He would recognize it. It was the story he read to her when she was a little one. Her favorite. She remembered when she would curl up under her blankets and drift off to sleep hearing this story over the sound of the wind outside her window.

"I can't take it with me, but I've been reading it a lot these last two weeks. So I won't forget."

Keter nodded. His little girl always showed flashes of wisdom. It would only develop with age until she was as wise as her mother. He smiled and stood up, taking the book with a glance. Her favorite. After all these years, she still returned to it. Maybe there was a lesson there - how the simplest stories keep bringing readers back. "Alright. We'll keep this safe until you get back," he said, bowing with a smirk. "Now excuse me princess, but I think it's time I give the queen a surprise." And Percy an aneurysm.

The girl nodded and stood up, lightsaber in hand. She dipped into a mock bow to her father.

"Good luck, Daddy! See you in a few months!"

She was probably going to miss him the most. His advice, his company. She really was a daddy's girl, no matter how old she got.
