Damn Dirty Thieves!

Eyes screwed closed and fists clenched along her legs as he placed the patch on.

Fethers.

Throat sucked down a lungful of air and she swayed slightly. Honey-brown orbs snapped open. "That was a doozy," she muttered and gingerly tugged her burnt shirt down and back over the patch. Jacket was eased on next.

"Thanks," she muttered.

At least she hadn't passed out on him. THAT would've been embarrassing for a seasoned vet like her. Hand pushed back silky strands of unkempt hair away from her olive skin. Kneeling, she turned to face Ein.

"Forward?"

Chin tipped beyond his shoulder. Behind him. He'd have to crawl first.

[member="Riz Carter"]

"Yeah." He said with pointing in the direction they would have to go.

This wasn't exactly the fastest way to get to where they needed to go, but already he could hear echoes of men and women asking where he and Riz had gone. Clearly the guards at this warehouse hadn't bothered to look at the buildings blueprints, something that paid a great amount of dividens for the CFO and the cop.

"Here." He began to crawl towards a larger access way. "This will take us up."

He motioned towards the ladder. "From there we can get behind them and..."

Ein trailed off, what were they going to do?

"Did you call for backup?" He whispered.

The detective crawled after the CFO, a grimace stuck on her face. Head tipped up as they got to the ladder. Seemed simple enough. Although? In this line of work nothing was easy.

Amber orbs checked her chrono.

"Two minutes out." She shouldered her way in front of Ein. "Stay here." Turning, hands grabbed the ladder and her feet began leading up. "You'll be safe here. I'm gonna go buy back-up some time."

Before she could move too far Ein grabbed her.

"I don't think that's a good idea." Going at it alone was always a rather dumb plan, at least Ein thought so. Sure it happened in Holo-flicks all of the time, but heroes in those usually had a tremendous amount of plot armor that kept them safe.

He was pretty sure that wasn't the case with Riz.

"You'll get shot." He told her. "Plus you're not very fast with that."

He motioned to her wounds. "Maybe we can cause a distractions from here."

She felt herself tugged back down. She slipped and a hand shot out to Ein's shoulder, steadying herself so she didn't fall. A hiss went through her teeth as her wounded back pressed against the rungs of the metal ladder, pinned by Ein in the front. Eyes traveled to his grip on her arm.

"I already got shot," she pointed out to the CFO. Once she was sure she wouldn't fall, her grip released from his shoulder. "But I'm listening. How do you propose we distract them from here? And would you let go?"

Eyes remained on his grip around her arm then flickered up to his golden eyes.

If he tried that again or if his plan didn't sound like it would work, she'd shoot him. Stun, of course.

He let go of her, frowning slightly.

She did already get shot, and that meant she would be slower and more sluggish. That wasn't even a criticism of her it was just a simple fact of being shot and injured. It wouldn't really do if she was running around down there with a wound.

"There's an access panel somewhere around here." He told her. "It controls some of the electric conduits."

The idea was a lognshot honestly.

"Maybe we can overload it." The ensuing explosion would be electrical in nature and would cause quite a flareup, but in theory it wouldn't damage any of the weapons since it was just an electronic burst. That meant no chain reaction and the warehouse would remain mostly whole.

Along with the entire neighborhood.

"Hmmm," eyes shifted in thought. Teeth chewed down slightly on the inside of her lower lip. "That....could work. You sure it won't blow us all up?"

Dark-brows lofted on her dark-skin.

Whelp. They didn't have too many other options. Back-up was still a few minutes out. The crystal weapon or whatever it was could destroy this whole section of coruscant. They could be priming it right now.

Turning, eyes scanned around them, spotting a small rectangle that stuck a bit more out of the smooth surface of the wall.

"There," chin tipped toward it and she eased past Ein, kneeling near the panel. "You don't happen to have a tool on yah?"

[member="Riz Carter"]

"Uhh." Ein said quietly. He hadn't really thought he'd need anything of the sort down here, and he very much doubted that Riz had thought anything but the same. He frowned for a few seconds and considered, pulling open the wall panel and glancing inside.

For a second he said nothing.

"No." Ein wasn't an engineer. He wasn't a scientist or a researcher for Vanir Technologies, but he knew a few things. Though his dream had never really been hands on work, he knew enough about his own projects and others that Vanir conducted to actually let him do a few things. For a second he shuffled about, glancing around to see if some lazy contractor had maybe left something behind. After a few seconds he found nothing. "Well..."

He trailed off and plucked the shield generator from his arm. "This will do."

Without a second of pause Ein jammed the shield generator between two large wires inside of the console, intending to use the devices power supply to overload the circuit.

"Ein. Wa--," there was a loud POP. Then another POP. A spark and a fizzle as smoke began to rise from the controls. Riz lunged back and covered her head as the control-box went haywire.

She certainly was no electrician or mechanic. Or a demolitions expert.

She probably would've done the same thing as Ein. Maybe done it a bit slower. But it was too late now. With one more POP - the lights everywhere went off and they were left in complete blackness save for the glow on her chrono signalling that back-up had arrived.

He smiled within the dark. "Well."

His voice was low, low enough to barely be audible.

"You have your distraction." He glanced at her chrono. "And your backup?"

The question probably sounded far more hopeful than it ever should have, but Ein really didn't want Riz to get hurt doing this. In hindsight it probably would ahve been easier if he'd called in Saeva to handle this situation...but he doubted that would have gone over well with Riz and her department.

"I'll stay here." Ein said quietly.

Someone needed to get the bad guys still.

Arms slowly unfurled from around her head. Rigidness in her muscles eased a bit when she heard the CFO's voice. Good. He was okay.

That was the first rule.

Eyes traveled to her flashing chrono in the dark. "They just got here," she whispered. The silence was amplified without the steady whirring of the factory's lights and other systems. "Yes. You stay here." Lips curled upwards in the dark slightly. "Finally glad you're volunteering for some sense."

Standing, she felt her way toward the access ladder.

She could already hear the back-up squad's movement below, cracking down on the perps.

Ein was true to his word. There was no real reason for him to move anymore, not until Riz told him it was safe.

He figured at this point he ahd put himself in enough risk that no one could call him a coward, plus he'd done his part. This job wasn't really for him, he was a business man, not a cop or some security officer. It was a far better idea just to let Riz handle it.

"Have fun." He told her.

It was really the only thing that he could think to say as she descended down the ladder. He caught the edge of her head right before she disappeared into the warehouse below, a small smile pulling across his lips as he leaned back.

It was time to relax.

At least for a few seconds.

"I always do," she spoke dryly and hauled herself up. At least he wasn't arguing with her this time. The CFO would stay put. Where it was safe. Giving one last nod to Ein in the semi-darkness, she crawled back to the ladder and began going down.

"Detective Carter coming down," she called into her comm to the incoming units. Head disappeared from Ein's view as she dropped gingerly below. That blaster bolt hurt like a fether.

There was a scuffle below with more bolts fired. Ein might hear all that. But in no time she along with the back-up had all the perps cuffed and lined up. And a bit after that the power to the warehouse was restored. The seasoned detective made one last sweep of the building before she called up to Ein.

"All clear. You wanna come down and talk to them before we take 'em to the station?"
