In a life of slavery, Duma had found solace only with some of the other slaves. Now as a free woman, she still wanted that...needed it. So when Ty relented and kept the connection, she stopped resisting letting him go and took what comfort she could. Without training, she did not press any deeper than he had already allowed her. She had glimpsed some humanity within him and knew it would show itself more. Just maybe not when either of them was expecting it. This wasn't that she dared but he had allowed her to without him knowing about it entirely.
Something she wondered but did not ask about was his past. Neither of them knew about what they had each been through to get them where they were now. He had probably figured out things about her, but to Duma, he was still a mystery. And would remain one until he decided he was ready to be open to her.
Once in the galley, she offered to prepare food for them. With his statement of not having a preference, she looked slightly surprised. Moving to look through what he had on hand, there wasn't a lot. If he agreed to restock his supplies, then she would have a shopping list ready for him.
"How about some oatmeal? It's about the only thing I can find that qualifies as breakfast."
Taking a package down, since he had said pretty much anything would do, she had it ready in just a few minutes. Serving him first...some habits were hard to break. Getting her own bowl, she sat down at the table next to him and not across from him.
Considering she was wearing nothing but the robe, he might have a clear view of what was under it. Having been used to wearing next to nothing, how she appeared was more than she was used to. Duma thought nothing was wrong with how she was dressed.
