Dominion Dark Harvest: Wildfire | Mandalorian Enclave Dominion of Shola

DARK HARVEST
PART II

SCARIF WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING…

The contagion discovered on the "Shining Star" of the Outer Rim was sweeping through Enclave space like wildfire while laboratories on Kamino were
desperately trying to develop a cure - but not fast enough. Numerous planets failed to completely contain its spread and ended up requesting help from the Mandalorians.

One such world was the newly inducted but remote world of Vlemoth Port. The industrial and trade hub had been quiet on the matter until the Enclave received a single message two and a half weeks after the events on Scarif :

THEY ARE HERE.

Despite being spread thin across their territory, the Mandalorian Enclave rushes to the crucial planet's aid.

vlemothobj4.png

Objective I
Sanshur Flats | Vlemoth Port

The industrial manufacturing city of Sanshur Flats is locked down and nearly overrun with infected beings. It is paramount to not only dispose of the aggravated infected wreaking havoc in the city, but to also preserve the manufacturing sector of the city. Deploy and clear out the city and factories from the infected. You are also tasked to try and capture an infected "alive" to aid the laboratories of Kamino in finding a cure.

vlemothobj1.png

Objective II
Swamp Jungles | Vlemoth Port

The isolated enclave of Mandalorians of Vlemoth Port, Clans Awaud and Beroya, rushed to the small settlements in the wetland region of the planet in an attempt to help the citizens contain the virus. The majority have since been bogged down in the main Talz settlement, trying to protect the few citizens that have not yet been infected. Help your brothers and sisters in Manda to keep the citizens safe but be careful of the infected Swamp Wampas roaming around as well.

Location: Vlemoth Port
Objective: In the Jungle
Armor: Shadow Gear

"I'm taking us down in the clearing there," Valery said after she touched a button to mechanically lower her mask for a moment. This was likely the first time Iris ever saw her in her old Shadow gear, but with the stories she had heard about this plague, she couldn't risk showing any skin. Tales of hungry beasts like the ones terrorizing Enclave space existed in the past, but this case felt far less contained, and so she had set out to offer her allies some help.

But Valery didn't come alone — she had brought her Padawan, Iris Arani Iris Arani along to help her. It wouldn't be the first risky mission they went on together, but something about this assignment felt so much darker. Maybe because for the first time, they weren't fighting Sith looking to oppress or corrupt, Imperials who wanted to conquer, or slavers trying to ruin lives across the Galaxy. They were up against ordinary, innocent people turned into monsters.

"I'm not going to risk landing in the Talz settlement just in case..." she paused and frowned, "Just in case nothing is left of it. We'll land in the clearing and move through part of the jungle until we reach them and assess the situation. I suspect people have looked for shelter in the jungles too, so we might be able to pick them up along the way."

Her eyes shifted to Iris as the shuttle touched down, "No matter what happens, we stay together for this one. No running off on your own." Her tone that that protective feeling to it, but she was quite serious. Together they were at their strongest, and most capable of helping these people.

With another click of the button, Valery's mask came back down, and she moved to leave the ship behind, "Keep your senses sharp, and let's get moving," the now distorted voice said after her feet settled into the swampy environment.

Iris_Sig.png

All she could remember was Coruscant.

Iris stood beside her master, wrapping her arms in some thick bandages. Another layer to keep her covered from the plague. Whatever this plague was, even Valery had herself covered to avoid infection. She tied off the last of the cloth before fitting a mask over her face. Similar in style to her masters. At least this way they'd be known as together, right? Once the mask hissed to signify the pressurization, she nodded.

".. They're like on Coruscant, right? Are they already dead though? Or are they still alive? Can they be saved, the infected I mean?" She hadn't wanted to cut down the zombies on Coruscant for that exact reason. But she didn't know they were already dead before. Now? Now she knew better. But if these people could still be saved, it'd change a lot of what Iris was going to do. Regardless, she hopped down into the swamp with Valery, unhooking her saber to at least have that in hand.

"Right behind you, Master."

Adjusting the medical armor on her person, Olaya Astrapi looked around the large, industrial city with a sense of dread. The very air surrounding her felt hostile and sick. She hated it. With a groan, the doctor followed behind the Mandalorian task force. There were multiple jobs they had to do here, saving the city and all. But Olaya was focused on one, single aspect of all of this. Capturing a live infected. She frowned, looking around at the deserted streets. These poor people… the infected that come to this planet had only been survivors of Scarif, unaware that they too were infected while fleeing where the infected originally were. Now, to further aid the research staff at Kamino, Olaya wanted to be here personally to make sure that an infected was captured the right way. She needed an infected. She was determined to end this virus and by the Force, she would.

She had lost too many patients to this thing already.

The Arkanian looked around, but felt a strange sensation. She looked over to one of the allyways of the city. Why did it feel… so… She had always had a strong gut instinct, but she was feeling creeped out. Looking over, she saw the Arkanian half breed of the group, Gwyneira Krayt, also looking in that direction. Oh, how joyous. Olaya still could not understand why a proud Arkanian would breed with a less than species, but here the product of that was. Still, having worked with Gwyneira before on Kaddak, she knew that despite her roots, Gwyneira was a skilled and strategic warrior. She was no mere brute, but a thinker. Olaya could… respect… that. Gwyneira peered into the darkness of the allyway, then she pulled out a blaster and pointed it in the direction of the alleyway. Olaya glanced at Gwyneira before hearing a hiss from the hallway. Out of the shadows erupted an infected.

<"Oh!"> Olaya squeaked and darted back while the creature ran towards them, fumbling to get her blaster out from its holster. Olaya was a doctor, not a fighter! Too bad she dropped the pistol on the floor as the creature closed in on her, shrieking. Olaya reached out and grabbed its face, trying to prevent it from biting her. The humanoid tried clawing at her, but the armor she had purchased aided in preventing any clawmarks appearing on her skin.

<"Get this thing off of me! What are you Mandalorians good for!">

Gwyneira froze as the infected jumped Doctor Astrapi. One part of her wanted to see the proud doctor get bit and infected. But she knew better. After all, Astrapi had a lot of research under her belt for these infected, and she was here personally to see that an infected would be captured for the benefit of the research back on Kamino. Coming into the danger zone for study, instead of staying in a clean factory with protective glass, took guts. But Gwyn also had paused because she knew that if she fired any of her weapons off, it would alert other infected to their location. A hoard would be a bad idea. She was sure she, her brother Vulcan, and her "Alor" Jos could all handle a hoard. But the pathetic doctor? Not so much. Besides, it was a waste of ammo.

Gwyn lifted her hand and clenched her fist shut. She tried to stay away from using this technique because of its Dark Side affiliation, but Gwyn couldn't think of any other silent killing methods at the moment. beforehand though, Jos Krayt intercepted and killed the creature himself. Gwyn sighed, glaring at Olaya through her visor and sighing. Of course, Olaya offered no thank you's to either of them, instead dusting off her armor like it was a dress that had gotten dusty. The half-Arkanian walked over to Olaya and pointed at her, shoving her finger in her face, <"Do not insult my people.">

Gwyn was unable to see her face through her mask, but she could sense the amusement rising in Olaya's chest. She was definitely smirking beneath that visor, <"You are being unprofessional, yelling at me instead of getting the job done.">

Gwyn gritted her teeth, very aware that Jos was likely thinking the same thing, but unwilling to let Olaya beat her, <"You are being unprofessional too, being weak and dropping your weapon like that. You have no place here.">

Before he left, the hospital staff told him not to get hurt this time, because they cannot afford to play another round of “Catch the Ubese”. They went 80 rounds with him before they discharged him. Vulcan was glad to be away from hospitals. Yet he knew this is a dangerous mission, he liked tough missions. He even found noise dampeners as his leg still stomped loudly. But he was at last able to wear his socks again. He picked out his skull ones, a fitting choice.

The ominous silence was coupled with the still air, something was seriously wrong and he knew it. The new addition was not someone Vulcan was keen on, but he doubted it was an instinctual dislike or an overall rubbing the wrong way dislike. He knew they needed to get rid of this virus, but at the same time bring in a few alive, if you could call mindless wandering living. He had to limit his war chest because the last thing his Vod needed is a fireball.

Soon the silence is ruined by an infected flying out of a corridor, some action and the Doctor fails the first rule of going into combat or mission, be alert. Vulcan had reached for his weaponry anticipating more as Gwyn dispatched the offending creature, he thought Zombie, but that doesn’t quite fit.

Vulcan had heard shuffling to his left and took a shot and took out another, these things, if they are like the lousy holo films, there will be a whole load of them coming their way. Vulcan found himself agreeing with his Sister. He didn’t hold his tongue, his helmet got in the way.

<“Gwyn is quite right, not paying attention gets you killed.”> He says keeping a watchful eye on what’s going on as he spoke.

"<Take a breath, Gwyn.>"

Eliz let out a sigh from under his buy'ce. It was good to have his armor back. Really good, actually. Fill some holes in his memory good. He wasn't sure why it helped with that, but it did. There was something.. Calming about having his armor back. Well, some of it. Turned out the karks that had stolen his suit already sold a good portion of it. All that remained was the underarmor and the helmet.

At least he still had that part. The rest of his suit? Durasteel. He'd get the rest of his armor back soon enough.

"<Your sisters an ass. Nothin' new. .. Right?>" Come to think of it, had he ever met Gwyn's sister before. He paused, glancing towards her. Studying. .. Nope, nothing rang a bell. Then again, he still had gaps n' all so..

Who knew.

The city was disturbingly quiet as the group walked through the streets towards another hot zone. They weren’t the only ones, groups of Marines and Mandalorians were working hard to clear out the most important spots in the city… and check for survivors. The latter part was a bit of a concern. He’d be surprised if they found ones that got out unscathed.

But that wasn’t their primary mission for this trip. They had to get a few “living” samples of infected people for the labs back on Kamino to study in hopes of finding a cure. Hence the accompanying doctor with a disposition reminiscent of a rancor’s rear end. She didn’t seem like the happy sort, if he had to be honest. But behind the harsh exterior and arrogance, he could feel a gentle spot. The exact reason why she was accompanying them on this trip. She cared deeply for her patients, no matter who they were. An admirable trait, to say the least.

His thoughts were interrupted when a few Infected took note of them and charged, taking the doctor by surprise. Though before a shot could be fired, the Kel Dor’s electrostaff extended and smashed into its face. The person tried to get back up, but Jos brought the pole down on its face to finish it off entirely. ”Sticking to our guns, for starters.” He joked with a soft chuckle in his voice as he turned to face the girl, her pistol snapping to his hand as he held it out for her to take.

It didn’t take long for bickering to set in, as Gwyn and Olaya went at each other and Eliz stoked the flames with an observation that had the Kel Dor guessing as well. Though his assessment was exactly the same as Gwyn’s: The girl was trying to press her buttons. Jos stepped over and rested a gentle hand on her shoulder. ”Doctor Astrapi. I am quite sure that you are a quite capable surgeon and scientist. But please, in our parts of the galaxy, acting like a child is rather frowned upon among adults.” He quipped with a desceptively gentle voice. He spared a glance at Gwyn, and while his helmet’s visor obstructed his face, the subtle nod indicated the wink he wished to convey to the girl.

The moment of respite, however, came to a very loud and abrupt end when a shot rang out behind them. Jos froze up and snapped around, clutching his electrostaff in preparation. But instead, he saw Vulcan with his gun pointed at a dead Infected person. Jos’ heart sank as he raised a hand to chew the boy out, but a series of loud shrieks echoed through the alleys. ”... Move it.” He muttered, looking at the group. ”To the roof!” He ordered the group as he grabbed hold of Olaya and took off into the air. He made sure the rest followed as he sent out an emergency warning to the others in the city.

The threat soon made itself known as dozens, if not hundreds of Infected, stormed like a tidal wave towards their position. "Catching one of those, Eliz. Without exposing ourselves. So that goes without saying, do not remove your helmet or any part of your suit... and don't get scratched." He spoke up after touching down on a rooftop.

Siv had faced a lot in his career as a bounty hunter and Mandalorian mercenary. Sith. Pirates. Changelings.

Not whatever the hell these things were.

The parced-together data that the strike teams on Scarif had managed to extract were borderline unhelpful. All that he or any Mandalorian knew was that these things were formerly people, but now shaped by a virus with unknown transmission or symptoms until they became rabid monsters. They had enhanced strength and speed but decreased cognitive abilities, and an apparent lack of sentience. As if super soldiers had been crossed with feral animals.

The important thing -- the oh feth factor, as Volo Dragr Volo Dragr had worded it to him in private -- was that these things were spreading everywhere. Scarif was the first. Now Vlemoth. And who knew what star systems would become infected next. For all the Enclave knew, every planet carried the disease already, and it was just waiting to manifest itself. Quarantine had immediately been enacted over Kestri with rigorous protocols for leaving the planet and testing for the contagion, but the rest of the Enclave had not been afforded the same measures; it was both impractical and unfeasible for them to do so. Their best chance at fighting the virus was making a cure, but that was easier said than done.

At their disposal the Enclave had the best geneticists in the galaxy: the Kaminoans, whose capture and forced cooperation Siv had played a role in. Now those long-necks wanted the damn infected so they could study the disease and find a cure. And no, they weren't going to do the dirty work themselves. That was the job of the Karjr. Karjr like Siv.

Vlemoth Station had once been one of the busiest spaceports in the Outer Rim, facilitating the multitude of industrial factories and warehouses situated in the city of Sanshur Flats below. But at the first sign of the infected, it had been walled off and its rich denizens and overseers had long fled, leaving Siv's CVT-48 Outlander-class Starfighter to be greeted by a derelict station upon his arrival. As he hopped out of the empty hangar, he hoisted his KSTR-22 Igradi light repeating blaster, his normal blaster pistol holstered at his hip. The weapon was a relic from the days of fighting Yuuzhan Vong in the war for Kestri and now mass produced by Kestri Weapons Foundry, but he wanted to see if the cryoban weapon was similarly effective against the organic infected. And since no one at the Foundry really knew, it had become his extra responsibility to field-test the technology as well.

KILL OR BE KILLED

<Picket tight there, Kel!>

It was a right pickle they were in. The settlement wasn't exactly a town that could be strategically defended. The best defence they had, was the three hastily mounted repeaters, a few spikes doubling as a type of wall and men and women in beskar spraying and praying with their rifles and an occasional grenade.

<Alor'ad, unidentified movement towards the center of town!> Evelyn Beroya reported, huddled behind a dumpster to check the readings.
<Not the locals?> Shel asked her.
<No, these are new signatures.>
<Alor'ad, a ship just dropped down in the clearing to the East. Alliance from the signature.> Jane Awaud reported from the other side.
<Greeeeat.> The Nautolan's mind raced. <Whoever is in that ship can look after themselves for the time being or move their asses here. Kel, check health stats before they get into town.>
<Yes, Alor'ad!> Kel Awaud hollered while he peppered another bunch of infected that had darted out of the trees.
<I'm more concerned about that movement in town. Evelyn, Nam, Teyr - you're with me. Let's check it out. The rest of you keep eyes open. Scans caught some wildlife roaming in the area.>

Jetpacks fired up and the four of them flitted toward the center of the desolate little town. The Talz that were still healthy were shuttered inside homes. No one aside from the Mando'ade were supposed to be moving outside.

Dropping down on a roof, Shel scanned the area. The two things that caught her eye almost immediately was the jetblack protocol droid and the golden hair of the one she should have killed in that casino on Scarif.

"Shabuir." she hissed, dark eyes flashing before she brought the rifle to her shoulder to send a golden bolt straight at the droid's head.

The bloody pirates were the last thing they needed.

Cold, cerulean eyes twisted and shifted slowly over the stars and collections of cosmic dust from the side of her ship as the dead, emptiness of space passed by the ships windows. Sharp claws tapping against the console and the alien womans bones becoming agitated, as if there was an itch in her core she couldn't scratch. Staving off the boredom was becoming harder and harder these days, the xenos instinct to hunt and bloody her sharp claws was almost as powerful as the need to breathe and yet here she was, no prey, no challenge worthy of her fangs.

The xenos tail thumped against the ground, the sharp end rattling in agitation as all four of the alien girls arms occupied themselves, the young girl drifting quietly through the void of space with no real destination or idea of what it was she wanted to be doing at the moment. The creature seemed...depressed. This was clearly picked up by X9, a tiny, helpful little droid that often followed the Mandalorian around, ensuring her behavior was on point and motivating the beast in those all to common moments where Dima becomes difficult to work with. Yet still, he had her best interest at heart as the droid levitated across the ships room to float beside her.

"Dima? Dima you've been sitting here for hours, what about our next hunt? I thought you were so excited to go do some bounty hunting!" The droid tried, attempting to cheer the crestfallen alien up only to get mushed aside by one of Dimas many arms.

"Go away! Dima doesn't wanna hunt mice anymore!" She huffed, in a fit of anger picking herself up and spinning herself around in her chair to face away from X9 as the droid stared at her confused. "Dima is always hunting, the money is worthless its the kill that matters and all the bounties this one gets are lame, sad, and lumpy!" She complained, crossing her four arms over her chest and mid section. "A hunt should be worthy of Manda not just fodder! Dima does not wanna kill another pirate or weirdo with a blaster! They are weak and unworthy of this ones claws~" Dima whined, swinging her head up towards the ceiling as if turning her nose up at such improper offerings to the gods.

The droid stared, its receptors firmly laid on Dima as the droid drifted back towards her front.

"Now Dima, not every bounty contract is gonna be an epic battle worthy of the gods ok? You have your expectations way to high!" The droid explained, Dima just closing all five of her eyes and shunning her face away from the droid and making X9's receptor blink red in irritation. "Oh come on! You got to hunt that force user just the other week you aren't satisfied with that? Surely there is something here for you to do when was the last time you visited Kestri? Maybe you could do some things with your fellow Mandalorians. Right? Remember? 'Cousins?' Surely they'd have something for you." The droid explained, moving ahead and activating the ships communications and such and activating the protocols to reach out to Kestri.

What was received made the droid stutter and pause, directly linked with most Enclave operations after reaching out the information received made the droid look up at the Mandalorian.

"I-it sounds...like there is an ongoing operation. Something about an infection that's been spreading to planets. This sounds serious Dima i think we should look into this." The droid warned, continuing to shift through the files and details of the operation as Dima opened one of her eyes to peer down at him.

"Operation? Is there...perhaps worthy prey for Dima?" She asked, tapping a claw on her bicep. "Perhaps...a Godling or two Dima can eat?" She cooed, the droid shaking its head.

"Negative, no reports of armed opposition. If my analysis is correct they are struggling against some kind of sickness that twist the bodies and minds of whoever it touches. It's highly infectious, a bite or scratch can transfer the sickness! This sounds serious Dima maybe we sho-"

"Bleh! Dima wants to hunt good healthy prey! Not sick and weak little wee wee mice! Why are Dimas cousins struggling to hunt sick people..." Dima mused with a bored tone, losing all and complete interest in the operation within seconds after being told they were dealing with some kind of sickness. The droid however, seeing the files from the previous operation knew this was far more serious than hunting worthy prey, which seemed to be the aliens single obsession.

"Dima Mandalorians are dying! Your 'Cousins' or whatever you call them! It's not just sick people something is happening down there! Is the way not to always answer the call of your fellow Vod? Gwyn is apart of the operation what if something happens to your friends!?" The droid argued, the mention of Gwyn making each of Dimas eyes snap open and her arms to unfold nervously.

Dimas entire energy shifted within moments, from aloof and dismissive to worried and involved as the droid was suddenly snatched out of the air and pulled close to the aliens face.

"W-what! Cousins and Gwyn are in trouble!? WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO!?" She snapped, suddenly dropping the droid and utilizing all four arms to begin manipulating the controls of the console to get the ship prepared to move, X9 hovering for a moment and watching as Dimas full anatomy went to work with the help of her dedicated focus.

"Gwyn can take care of herself you know that! I dunno about everyone else though and you could probably be some help! I'll set a course! Dima gear up! The planet is close by we'll be there in about an hour!" The droid exclaimed, Dima powering up the ship then bouncing from the cockpit's chair and quickly pouncing through her ship and towards the locker in the back as the ship suddenly jumped into hyperspace.

vlemothobj4.png

"Don't worry cousins, Dima is on the way!" A voice would chirp from behind the visor of her helm as the Xeno finished arming herself. Her armor thinner than most and her body completely masked in the gear to prevent a breach in her suit, Dima reaching out and grabbing her rifle and other various assets as the ship came barreling out of hyperdrive. The ship never lost speed however as X9 steered them directly down towards Vlemoth Port, knowing that most of the operation took place in the industrial city. Breaking into the atmosphere and getting closer and closer X9 came onto the ships speaker.

"Operation details have been sent to your HUD Dima! But you aren't here to complete a mission, you must protect your cousins Dima! Protect your hive!!" X9 commanded with enough power to motivate the young Xeno as the back of the ship suddenly cracked open with the rear door slowly opening. Revealing the city below as X9 did a flyby high over the cities tallest skyscrapers.

The xeno racked her weapon. CLICK-CLACK!

"THE ONE LIVES FOR NOTHING ELSE!" Dima yelled in delight as the xeno ran down the ramp and used her strong, alien legs to leap from the ship while it flew through and eventually out of the city. Dima however, had finally been unleashed in the battle. Wind rushing all around her as the young Mandalorian free fell through the air, no jetpack equipped Dima spun and twirled, giggling impishly from behind her helm as her velocity increased with each passing moment of falling until she neared the surface of the city.

And within seconds, the mechanisms on the back of her armor opened up, four openings made to allow for long, slithery tendrils to spill from the core of her body and out of the access ports. Crystal-like talons exposed to the air and looking around their environment before one of those tendrils lashed outward and spat a long, threaded rope of silk to a nearby building, attaching herself to it and going from a vicious nosedive towards the earth into a long, wide arch of a swing. The weight of her armor giving incredible velocity as Dima linked into the communications channel of her fellow comrades while in mid swing, using her extra arms to manipulate the holopad display on her arm.

Static rang, until a voice quipped up from Jos Krayt Jos Krayt .

"Move it, To the roof!"

Dima's central eye focused, the signals of her allies giving Dima the building he and the others were currently at. The arc of her swing coming to an end, Dimas tendril cut the thread of silk and flung herself high and far into the air, traveling quite the city distance as another tendril reached out to spit another silk thread to another structure, carrying herself higher and eventually latching onto the side of the building where her mandalorian allies were located. Her hands and legs now latched to the side, her tendrils extended long, crystal-like blades from their talons and jammed them into the walls, slicing through the metal and cleaving through the panels until suddenly loud shots erupted from the allyways beneath her, causing Dima to cease her behavior and look down only to see two mandalorians stumbling away. One appeared to have a wounded leg while the other carried him, shooting back at what Dima could only describe as a vicious mob of feral humans.

"C-cousins?" Dima mused, her tendril which was currently jammed into the wall slowly peeled away, Dima becoming distracted very quickly by the display as she scuttled down the side of the building like some kind of hyperactive alien spider. Getting herself close enough to then reach down and snatch the wounded mando with one of her tendrils talons, grabbing him by his entire torso and hoisting him up into the air, wrestling the mans body out of the grip of his brother who was trying to rescue him.

"W-what the! HELP! GET IT OFF ME MAN! GET IT OFF ME!" The mando shrieked in fear from being snatched up by claws like some kind of toy in those rigged arcade machines. The other man who was still being chased looked up to see what had grabbed his brother away, only for a talon to latch directly onto his shoulder and yank him up into the air as well and away from the danger of the mob. "OH WHAT THE FETH!" The other grunted, the two slowly pulled up to Dimas level as her visor met theirs.

"Rejoice cousins! Dima has arrived to keep her hive warm and safe~" She cooed warmly, bringing both of them closer to rub and nuzzle their metal helmets against hers as if she were hugging them, the two fully grown men hanging in the air wrapped up in her two lower tendrils as Dima purred audibly.

The two brothers groaned and complained, musing Dima away and squirming about. "Put us down! Put us down!" The wounded on shouted, Dima making a confused face and tilting her head.

"O-oh, ok. Dima is sorry~" She apologized, slowly lowering the wounded man back down towards the mob of feral beast as they clawed at the walls trying to get up the side of the building where Dima stood like a spider.

"NO! NO NOT DOWN THERE DAMMIT DIMA!" The brother countered, making Dima hesitate as she did not know what they wanted anymore.

"Bah! Do you want up or down stop confusing Dima!" She snapped, shaking them violently in sharp motions while hissing in agitation before deciding for herself, her spare two tendrils on the upper half of her back reached upward, carrying Dima up the side of the building and to the roof where she would eventually meet the others if they came up in time. And if they did, all they would see is Dima, standing on two tendrils while in her other two she held fellow mandalorians rescued from grim fate. Throwing them down to the floor and crossing her arms. "Dima has still not heard a thank you from her cousins~"

The two mandos laid there, guns still in hand, exchanging glances before sighing deeply together.

"Uggggg....thank you Dima~" They both echoed at once.

Dima's ears fluttered behind her helm, her tail swishing in the air as she chittered happily. "Oh happy days! You are most welcome beloved cousins~" She cooed in reply, using one of her lower arms to take out a holographic mini map that displayed the locations of her allies, typing in the communications for Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla and speaking to the device. "Hellooooooo? Gwyn you may rejoice! Dima has come to be strong and beautiful with her cousins, Dima even saved two of her vod and they thanked Dima!" She told her friend, the xenos mind not fully focused on the dangers of the operation. "Does Gwyn also need helping from this one? Dima has many arms she can help honest!" She asked, the alien girl unsure what exactly the objective was as she had mainly come to guard her precious hive, as her instincts told her to do so.

Rohak finally slid the buy'ce over his head when an explosion right next to him forced him to stagger back. The fiery blaze blinding his eyes subsided to reveal Abe's smoldering head. The whole head frame had been disintegrated leaving miraculously only the droid's two optics and a wild wirings sparking with electricity.

"My, such fierce destruction. I must pay my respects to this deity capable of immeasurable ruination!" the protocol droid stated as it wobbled around its axis uncontrollably. Some protocol chips had been deep fried to atoms.

"Abe, no!"

Once more, it was too late. The Mandalorian fell flat on his chest as the Gentleman began spraying all sorts of firepower everywhere around as it continued to malfunction in circles.

Rohak pulled a restraining bolt out of his pouch and hammered it inside his wrist launcher before tilting his hand up and firing the projectile at the droid disabling him after a few seconds of more wanton destruction.

"Bootstrap, get Abe back! The rest of you -- attack!" he ordered and from the thick jungle shrubs and trees, a few dozen ugly mugs materialized in a wild charge forward. While the Enclave's focus was on the main cities and industrial bases, settlements such as this one, out of the the way and almost forsaken, were easy and bountiful targets to pilfer.

The repulsor pack lifted him off high in the sky and the dar'manda's carbine roared against the settlement's defenders from above.

"It will take time before there's a cure... time these people may not have," Valery said while she began to move through the jungle, her eyes and senses scouting the area carefully. It was a hard reality to accept, as even trying to keep alive those who had been infected but not yet turned was an immense risk. There was no guarantee a cure would ever be ready in time to help them. So what was the right thing to do?

"Those who turned are already dead, so all we can do is release them and make sure they can't harm others. We have to help fight the spread of this plague until a cure is ready." Valery then suddenly paused and raised a hand to signal Iris to stop moving. The Padawan could likely feel it too, but something was happening in the distance.

A fight, loss of life - emotions pulsed through the Force.

"Iris, send out a signal on open channels, maybe we'll get a response," she looked at her Padawan and smirked behind her mask, "I don't think the turned are clever enough to use comm systems." If anybody in the town to the west was still alive and using communications equipment, they'd surely receive the signal and hopefully update the two Jedi on what was going on.

But it wasn't the only thing for them to worry about.

As they moved deeper into the jungle that stood between them and the town, the two could feel tremors in the ground beneath them. A darker, murderous presence was moving up ahead, and after passing through some thick vines, they could see it. A pair of gigantic, zombified swamp Wampas were heading straight for the town as well.

"We can't risk those attacking the villagers, and dragging along more of their kind." She looked at Iris and removed one of her two lightsabers from her belt. "Let's focus one down first. I'll attack it to distract it, and you sweep in to take it down. Then we focus on the other together." With a tap of the switch, her violet blade ignited, "Now!" She called out before she jumped across the distance from behind and used her speed to leave behind a nasty cut along the creature's back. It roared in pain and anger and focused completely on Valery with the intent to eat her alive.

Save more lives, halt the infection here. Iris nodded grimly. She understood it now. Not like on Coruscant. Those that turned, they couldn't be saved. Not yet. And when it came between them and saving another, the choice was clear. Maybe one day they'd be able to save everyone left, but until then.. She clicked on her com, immediately sending out a broadcast to those around. The turned couldn't use them.

Well, hopefully.

Straight to the point.

Iris's gaze flicked up and ahead. The zombies, the colors they brought. Hunger. Unnatural hunger. The colors were terrible, gross. She really wasn't sure it was something she wanted to keep seeing, but at least she could tell when they were close. Not the size though. She blinked. Stared. Those were big. The blue of her saber burned into life as she nodded once to her Master's orders.

Valery took off, and Iris wasn't far behind. As the master leapt forward to cut the creatures back, Iris leapt up into the branches of one of the trees. Then forward. As the creature roared and turned after the threat that had harmed it, Iris sped by it's head. Her blade flashed out. Rotted flesh parted easily under her saber, leaving the creature to fall to the ground as she landed in the swampy water.

She didn't stand still for long. Iris spun on a heel, flicking her blade up to point towards the remaining creature. It was already charging at her. Her eyes narrowed as her blade carved out through the claw sent to strike at her as she dodged to the side. Let it run by with one less hand.

"Master!"

KILL OR BE KILLED

"Oh shit!"

Evelyn flinched as the droid went on full destructive mode. She hadn't been on Scarif when some of the Clan had encountered the Dead Maiden crew, so a protocol droid going full weapon was a bit of a shock to the Mando'ad's system.

Shel, on the other hand, had been expecting it and had taken to the air immediately with Nam Awaud and Teyr Beroya right behind her, rifles belching out gold at the figures of more crew members peeled out of hiding. Evelyn took a few breaths before she jumped into the air as well to add her firepower as well.
<Kel! Send me three more guns!> Shel barked.
<Gotcha! They're on the way!>

Just then, the traitor launched into the air as well.

The Nautolan bristled. He sure had gall. He would bloody pay. While the rest of her group flitted in different directions to rain hell down on the scumbags, Shel had a different strategy. When the dar'manda's carbine swung towards Nam and Teyr, she closed the small distance between them to bodily slam into him to try and drive him to ground.

"Manda curse you, chakaar!"

<Hold fire!>

The infected hung back for a bit, and rifles quieted for the time being, preserving ammo. Aside from the occasional clink of moving armour or the snarl of an infected in the treeline, it was deathly quiet.

:: This is Padawan Iris. We're here to help. Send us your location. ::

The young voice crackled through their comms.
"The Jedi are here?" Jane asked, muting her comms. "That'll help a helluva lot."
<Padawan, this is Kel of Clan Awaud. Boy, are we glad y'all are here. Sending coordinates now. Be careful out there. Kel out.> Kel relayed back to her before keying through coordinates to her.

<They moving again!> Jawin Beroya hollered as his rifle threw a few golden bolts at some advancing infected again. It was haunting - people they have known for many years, Talz they have bartered with for decades, bearing down on them, all wrong with discharge from orifices and snarling like rabid hounds ready to rip into their prey. It hurt to put bolts on people that were still good beings only a week prior.

Kel looked into the face of the mom of 3 that had lived next to the armoury he worked at for many years that was now rushing toward him. With a deep, shaking breath and an aching heart, he let loose his own salvo of gold into her and other neighbours of his.

What a damn mess.

A cough, a sniffled nose behind a helmet.

But no determination faltered. No impact to his performance.

Through the jungle fauna, the trees themselves shifted. The brute that was Fenn Stag came barreling from the greenery- his arms wrapped around an infected that was clawing at his armored back helplessly. The entire forty yards he was holding the infected in a tackle- he was screaming, a terrifying war cry. It was like an animal, some other worldly beast that had come to the galaxy.

The Devil had sent his plagues, and the Manda had sent it's reply. Fenn viewed it as a holy war, in a sense. They were purifying the land, cleansing it of evil.

The beast that the padawan freed of it's hand, came back to use it's other hand, it's jaw to attack the padawan. Despite being no fan of Jedi or their kin, Fenn did not want to watch a young woman be eaten. So he moved. He moved fast.

In his rage of combat, in his fury, he had exhausted his ammo earlier in the conflict. He had a personal vendetta. A newly minted piece of his armor bore the visage of not only the Jaig Eyes- but on his bracers, 11 markings, marked with wolf heads, each representing a member of the team that he was now the sole survivor of. Not only was this war holy for Fenn-

It was personal.

All the creatures deserved nothing less than death and end.

The creature turning to face the Padawan was met with a crushgaunt around it's neck. While at one point, they were a joyous person, with love, hope, they were nothing more than a demon, a creature of the night, plagued by the foul disease that was wreaking havoc across the Mandalorian systems.

Fenn held the beast in his mighty hand, lifting it with one arm. His strength was that of his father's, though, not quite as much- given his age, and the fact that he was simply not Preliat. Fenn squeezed, the creature's life draining as he crushed it's spine, before tossing it aside.

He didn't say anything to the Padawan, his T-visor simply looking her way.

A cough. A cleared throat.

A shaking of the hand to fight back the chills of his self-diagnosed flu or cold. But other than that- nothing else wrong... outwardly.

The dark woods were lit ablaze in fire. Abe's heavy flamethrower turning the night into day before Bootstrap had yanked the headless droid away from the lines and back to these lunatics' camp. Blaster fire and golden teeth flashed as pirates, Mandalorians and infected thralls clashed in a bloodied frenzy.

Rohak dusted off the carbine to fire when a shadowy figure slammed into the dar'manda like a missile and dragged him down through the mud and fen.

"You-- again?"As they drove through the mire softening their landing, the pirate socked the Nautolan with his free crushgaunt to get her off him.

After striking the back of the zombified Wampa, Valery's eyes were already turning to the unharmed one. She knew Iris would be sweeping in to finish off the first one, so when it happened, there was no look of surprise. Just a quick nod to show her Padawan she had done well, and to focus on the other, who was already charging in. With a quick sweep of the blue blade, Iris severed a hand and tried to dodge. The beast, however, turned around and moved to attack the girl who had taken its hand.

Valery heard the call that followed from Iris, and moved with lightning speed to intercept it, only to notice another figure appearing. With great strength, Fenn Stag Fenn Stag lifted the Wampa off its feet and snapped its spine to kill it instantly. While its body fell to the floor, Valery made her approach and looked the man up and down with a raised brow behind her mask.

"Thanks for the help," she finally said before looking at Iris with a soft smile. "We're heading for the nearby town. They signaled their location to us, and they could use some help. You want to tag along?" She asked. It was understandable if he didn't quite want to team up with two Jedi, but with this plague spreading around, it was better not to wander around alone.

There was, however, something that felt off about him.

"Are you alright?" she asked, having heard a cough but more importantly, the Force warned her that something was wrong. There was tension and even a faint whisper of danger that lingered around him.

<T> "Iris, keep an eye on him," Valery communicated to her Padawan telepathically at the same time. She was already fearing the worst, given the situation on the planet, but she couldn't make assumptions or give up on people too quickly.

Either way, she disengaged her lightsaber and began to move towards the town, hopefully with him joining them, but she'd accept it just being Iris and her as well.

Iris spun her blade around, narrowed her eyes behind her mask. Even as the creature turned to swing it's other claw, she wasn't panicked like she would've been before. She cut it, it didn't react. It was a monster. And yet, before either of them had a chance to strike out, a new color joined in. The masked visage of the Padawan betrayed no amount of surprise she had.

She let her master speak. Didn't move from where she was. The colors around the Mandalorian were different. Worrying.

"You're sick."

Sisters? What!?!

Sure, Olaya and Gwyn looked physically similar. But there was no way Olaya had a father disgusting enough to breed with another species! No way! The reason he had left Olaya and mother at all was because of her parents' different ideologies concerning Arkanian Purism. Mother was willing to soften up to keep her wealth and popularity under Galactic Republic control. Meanwhile, according to mum, father abandoned it all to illegally expirament and maintain an old style Arkanian Purist system elsewhere in the Galaxy.

There was simply no way.

Going from disgruntled to cross, Olaya bristled when the kel-dor talked her down like a spoiled little girl. Beneath her suit, she gritted her teeth.

<"Um, excuse me?">

Before anymore could be said, the actual child in the group shot an infected. The fool! As shrieks resounded from down the alleys, Gwyn grabbed her and brought her to the ceiling with the rest of the squad. She spared a glare at the reckless ubese snot, like he could see her beneath her safety mask, before huffing as she rubbed where Gwyn's armor jammed into her skin.

<"You could have held me softer, lady.">

Then... well...

Chaos struck.

Olaya shrieked as some kind of creature called and greeted them, speaking galactic basic but looking like something that wasn't. And Olaya just couldn't keep her mouth shut.

<"What is that?! Some kind of experiment??">

A pause, then a grin.

<"Fascinating!">

Olaya stepped closer to the thing, looking its multi-limbed, spiderlike body up and down.

<"No diagnostics recognize this one as any sort of known species! What is it? Why was it created? Something this wonderfully out there must have been created with Arkanian genetic technology, must it have??">

She was so astonished looking at this thing, she reached out with nervous excitement to touch.
