It's more an inbuilt security weakness.

It can break a game if too many people are hacking, though. One's fine, just leave the server. But if on every server there is someone hacking, then it starts to become no fun. (going with the idea that most hackers kill other players just cause)

Its also a mod so I wouldn't expect its servers to be locked down.
