Death to the Emperor Conclusion

OK. My only question about the council is this...

A Sith Council usually is around 12 or less Sith Lords. The more the better merrier so any opposition can be stopped early from within, Right?. With Kentarch being done and some others too. How will your idea of a balanced council work? How many active OS Sith Lords are there than can manage this?

The success of something like that would probably be the decision of the faction staff.
Just for the sake of playing devil's advocate - if the faction staff sides against that sort of a thing, and a major portion of the faction was behind another coup (let's say in the scenario that the faction RP becomes stale due to council inactivity), does the success of something like that really matter?

Guys, I am reading a lot of opinions here and it's starting to become way disorganized. New folks dropping in with theirs, old folks stamping their feet - this ain't gonna work, I think.

I am of mind to use [member="Soeht"]'s advice.

Make a poll with all the opinions just listed out and let the community vote. Then the admins will take those results in the backroom and we will discuss it further.

Otherwise we will be sitting here all day bloviating about it.

This is just my personal thoughts, and doesn't reflect the other Faction Staff's, but:

The answer to that depends on whether we'd have one council, or two.

If we have one council, I believe we would have enough members. We'd have a number of Sith Lords, and representatives from the Army and Navy too. In a situation where we still didn't have numbers, I think notable Knights could be raised to that position. If I recall correctly, we've had Knights raised to Hand of the Dark Lord before, so there is precedence.

If we have two council's, a Sith and War council, I suppose the same thing. Notable Knights would be raised, and if we didn't have enough members, NPC Lords could be controlled by admin staff, until we get more PC Lords.

This is why the most efficient way to lead a large organization while still having some sense of democracy is for the leaders/administration to come up with the path forward and present this to everyone else to see if it's what everyone wants.

For example: if I was Faction Owner, I'd post the thread saying, "Stardust to be Emperor. Thoughts?" because I think Stardust being Emperor is the best path forward. Then, I'll take in member opinions and proceed from there.

If general opinion is either "Agree" or "Don't care," then I make Stardust the Emperor. If general opinion is "Hell no," maybe it would be best to rethink the plan.

Otherwise, you get 5 page threads with 1000 different ideas and the sense of an indifferent Faction team.

^Yep.

Additionally, I find it rather disheartening that someone can do all the IC work to become DL, but even if they pulled off the coup successfully they would suddenly find themselves being choked out in OOC gridlock by admins that don't like the concept.

Whatever OOC discussions and agreements that were supposed to have occurred before the actual thread seem to have completely evaporated.
