[*]Rate of Fire: Single shot.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Firemane has done much to refine ‘modern’ warfare. There was however an area of confusion still; missiles.
History provided many types and varieties of missiles, each with a bewildering array of terms, specs and strengths. Therefore Firemane decided to standardise their missiles into 3 models.
Model 1 resembled the old missile launchers carried by clone and Stormtroopers. They were man portable but still packed a heavy punch. Trials conducted by Firemane showed they could fire up to 5km, hitting within a 5 metre radius an astonishing 98% of the time. Penetration varied, but 10cm of reinforced armour was not uncommon. It could therefore take out light vehicles and damage heavier ones by attacking weak points.
Model 2 was made to replace the baffling lack of anti-air missiles. Blaster cannons and dogfighting were still the order of the day, and Firemane were determined to move past this seemingly archaic close combat. With a very long range and being mountable on aircraft, ground launchers and vehicles, it gave Firemane strong offence against air attack. These missiles could also be used by fighters and vehicles to hit ground emplacements. Few vehicles and walkers can survive the hit from a Model 2. These can also be used in space for dogfighting there.
Model 3 was designed to give bombers a powerful munition useable in atmosphere and in space. This missile is absolutely devastating against ground targets; able to level buildings and penetrate hardened defences with ease. It can also be used in space to attack escorts and capital ships like conventional space bombers. The long range of this weapon means it does not have to physically drop bombs like an ancient planet bound bomber either.
Overall the Deathstrike covers multiple necessary and useful strategic needs. This missile can be used in many situations whilst still having weaknesses which mean it is not a guarantor of victory.

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create missiles for use by Firemane. Star Wars canon and legends has such a plethora of missiles and types over the years, often with stats which make no sense. Thus, as a way of cutting through that mess, this sub will provide for future and past subs, replacing generic ‘concussion missiles’ with the Deathstrike.
- Image Source: Here. Concussion Missile from Wookieepedia.
- Canon Link: Based on Concussion Missiles from canon and legends, but heavily reengineered to make them balanced and useable.
- Restricted Missions: N/A
- Primary Source: N/A
- Manufacturer: Firemane Industries and Technology
- Model: FM-DS001a
- Affiliation: Closed-Market Firemane and approved marketplace purchasers only.
- Modularity: Yes. Three sizes. All can replace HE warheads with ion or penetration rounds.
- Production: Mass-Produced.
- Material: Plasteel casing, rocket components, electronic guidance components, warhead.
- Classification: Missile.
- Size: Model 1: Handheld. Model 2: Vehicle/Fighter/Interceptor/SAM mounted. Model 3: Bomber mounted.
- Length: Model 1: 110cm. Model 2: 370cm. Model 3: 540cm.
- Weight: Model 1: 10kg. Model 2: 50kg. Model 3: 125kg
- Ammunition Type: Missile.
- Ammunition Capacity: Model 1: Single shot launcher, manual reloads. Model 2: Limited, usually 2-4 for aircraft and 1-2 for vehicles, ground launchers up to 12 depending on size of launcher. Model 3: Barrage. Bombers carry 6-8. These can be fired singly or in volleys.
- Effective Range:
Model 1: 5km - Model 2: Up to 50km for aerial targets. Ground range: 15km.
- Model 3: Up to 125km. Bombers usually deploy theirs closer to the target to limit detection and countermeasures.
[*]Rate of Fire: Single shot.
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Comes in 3 models; Handheld, Fighter/Vehicle/SAM mounted and Bomber mounted.
- All models feature infrared, optical, satellite and GPS targeting. This is handled by the launcher.
- All models feature pressure detonation. After firing, any impact to the warhead will cause its detonation.
- Model 1 (Handheld) is strong versus light vehicles, buildings and the weak parts of heavy vehicles. The launcher is portable and requires only 2 crew.
- Model 2 (Fighter/Vehicle/SAM) is strong versus air, heavy vehicles or fortifications. It can be used in space by fighters and interceptors.
- Model 3 (Bomber) is strong versus large aircraft and especially enemy armour and fortifications. It can also be used in space against escorts and capital ships.
- Can have ion and penetration warheads. However, since these have to be equipped before battle they are only used for specific missions.
- Guided. The Deathstrike missiles, whatever the model, are guided by a variety of means. They are ‘fire and forget’ and capable of hitting enemies even out of sight.
- Penetration. The Deathstrike delivers strong penetration for its impact. A Model 1 can easily cripple a light tank or damage a heavy walker. A Model 2 can shoot down opposing aircraft and smash fortifications. A Model 3 is a true bunker buster, able to wreck even the largest vehicle, hit even large enemy craft such as gunships and damage escorts and capital ships in numbers.
- Smart. With inbuilt countermeasures and moving at supersonic speeds, the Deathstrike can avoid many enemy countermeasures. It is also near-impossible for a Force user to divert because it explodes on any impact.
- Ammunition. Missiles by their definition are limited. A launcher, vehicle or aircraft using them will run out. Missiles are heavy and expensive and so are only provided in limited numbers.
- Detonation. As they are reactive, a stray shot hitting the missile will cause it to detonate, with devastating consequences.
- Countermeasures. Whilst equipped to deal with enemy tricks the Deathstrike runs the usual risk of flares, ion pulses and chaff diverting or disabling it.
