Desolate Waste

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
Location: Kelsier

This world was covered in snow and ice and thankfully not so cold as the jedi master brought the Botany Bay down from space. It might not be the fastest ship but working with it and on some of the things they had been developing the plant life on it as she checked on some of the flowers and trees. They had been working to improve upon it and the hyperdrive but she had come here for another reason. To get a look at things before the Silver Sanctum came here which came in making it a little harder.

She could work on some of the things here while the better things she had been developing with the Loom Sasori created for synthweaving crystals into different materials. It gave her some hope for things to use and work with before she was walking through the ship and leaving space for all of her gear loading it into the equipment back while she got changed putting her circlet on her ankle and then in the boots and bodyglove. SLowly leaving room for the ones who came with her to join and go out exploring.

"Welcome to one of the least hospitable places in the galaxy... but it does have a nice feeling of remoteness for working on research and other things. You never know what you will findw out here either. The Sanctum were secretive." But she had looked at some of the information to find what was looking best before her ideas and attention went to the major parts exited the one hanger bay to walk out onto the planet with most of her hair in a thick ponytail behind her.

Least hospitable place eh? Jack had a few choice words about that. Yinchor had been pretty harsh, but he kept that to himself as he followed the Jedi Master down the ramp. He had only just met her, striking out to expand his Jedi ties. She seemed alright, she was a crafter had the same spirit as Jack.

A spirit passed down to every Raxis which ran in the cellular level of their blood. The craving for adventure.

His Naval Aliit'Gam protected him from the worst of the environment and his Besk'ad jingled against his hip slightly. He wore no lightsaber, having not yet figured out the intricacies of such a weapon. An old DL-44 was on his left hip, knife at his back waist.

She seemed to know the way. Jack was happy he didn't have to Astrogate for once and simply was in tow.

"So what exactly is the objective of our little expedition here Master Ike?"

Matsu was looking at the world and then at the apprentice as she looked. "Well we really needed some ice for drinks." She said it with a joke to break the ice... get it... get it hahaha she was funny. "But we are here to look for materials, making things jedi can use is hard and not many appreciate the process of gathering. They just sometimes like to use the final product." She had to make an effort to work on the pieces of equipment and building up some of them at that. With a look though she was reaching out into the force and opened one of the crates as the probe droids came out and linked to her forearm pad. "GO and search, get all readings on ores or scans we can mine." The droids were heading off as they flew around offering a smirk to herself.

Drinks sounded nice. Jack chuckled, her sense of humor was not lost on the Spacer. Still he was curious as to what exactly they would be finding. The Probe droids buzzed and whirred past him and Jack took a step back. He had half a mind to blast them right there, but held his composure. The sight of them made his stomach turn.

"Eh. Droids."

She was smart to bring them though. He leaned over, watching the datapad through his HUD,

"Can I get a live feed into my armor?"

Matsu looked at him while she was sendign the information. "Yes they are useful for scouting, as powerful as the force is it can't tell the difference between the rocks and ores from a distance. If we want to mine it comes in handy." The mining droids were always there we could bring around. "Also helps find crystal or stones that can be used in sabers but might not be exactly force sensitive." Matsu was walking while the droids spread out giving her some time to work on the discovery phase so they could get things. "More types of metal and ore we have the more experimentation we can do for things in the loom for infusing with jal shey style force abilities."

When she said Jal'Shey his ears perked up. His mother had been a crafter, using the Jal'Shey arts. rumor had it she had a datacron around the galaxy somewhere explaining all that. so far as Jack had read they were pretty powerful folks, able to bend reality and enchant items with magnificent power.

The droids were spreading out even farther and he was linked into a few, watching their progress through a side panel in his HUD. She was an interesting Jedi to be sure. Very innovative.

"Is it possible to teach me this art?"

"Yes, though I am still trying to become strong at it. I met one of the Jal Shey and she was willing to teach me but then vanished (permanent LOA)." Matsu said it while walking and brought from her pocket one ofthe amulets. "She gave me the idea to work on these, it creates a force barrier when the jedi wearing it is scared of death." A nice trinket to have for back up and in some cases it could work to show when a jedi was falling as it didn't work with ones who weren't following the lightside of the force. "Though she did help me make the force guns, concentrated force light into shots to handle the dangers of sithspawn and sith artifacts."

"Im more interested in trinkets, less in weapons."

The droids beeped, and it seemed their work was done. Jack grunted and closed the side panel on his HUD and nodded to her.

"You gonna get the readouts or you want me to look over them?"

Through the helmet his voice sounded murky like gravel. Falling to the Darkside eh? So far he hadn't chosen a side, preferring to remain as neutral to the whole Jedi- Sith light vs darkness struggle. The force was an ally for Jack, but not the focus of his life. The Mando'ade and the Resol'Nare came before all else.

She looked a him and the trinkets were some of the more impressive things she could make while working over a few more of them. The circlet was a great test for handling cold and heat that jedi could wear same as the necklaces. She was working on some more of them looking at the readouts. as some of them were detecting the standard metals, ores and deposits but then there were blind spots while she was looking over it. "It looks normal except for the dead zones the scanners couldn't penetrate the rocks. The asteroids over Aeten and island on Maramere have similar things with those blind spots."

Jack wasn't a miner, he was a pilot and fighter. When she started talking about density scans his brows furrowed, but he got the general idea of what she was saying. The rocks were not being penetrated by scans. Furthermore having never actually ventured to Maramere, despite adventuring half the galaxy, he was further stumped.

One hand picked the trinket from her palm and he examined it, holding it closely to his helmet and zooming with the HUD as he talked.

"Sounds spooky to me Master Ike. I like a good mystery though. I've never been to Maramere, what can we expect to find in our dense pockets?"

She thought about it and spooky was something while she was walking. "If it is like the island then stygium crystal we could use for any number of things. We won't have to do much with the mining droids we built that can handle it." She was looking over a few of the things while that was going off to work. "The real goal here though padawan is what kind of training you would like to receive. There is a number of ways to work on things and paths for everything in the galaxy." She had a grin on her face before getting to some of the mountains before she was hovering up a little, other things here were prime and ready for an artisan to shape into a great gift for other jedi.

Jack found climbing rather easy. His armor was lighter variety of Aliit'Gam, made for dexterity and hand to hand on a ship. Blasters and the like weren't his strong-suit, melee and blade work were. Which is where the Masters knowledge would come in handy he suspected. With a grin underneath his helmet he scrambled over a rock ledge, hoisting himself up the shelf and then extending a gloved hand to help her as well.

"I already know a fair bit about the code and the different traditions. I'm a great swordsman, though I've never had the pleasure of wielding a Saber or refining my abilities. What's on the table to teach?"

"Just about anything but my time among the Aing-Tii and some of the more dangerous things. Really I will teach anything and only expect one thing from the padawans who learn." She climbed up more and there was pieces of crystal jutting from the rock. "That you make your own damn choices about it. Not really much of a choice if someone is making the decisions for you." Getting there now she was touching the crystal and inputting the information manually for the probes to work on it with the larger mining droids before drawing out her saber with its interlocked hilts and look more like a chakram for throwing and guiding around them.

"Then I'll focus on Saber Work. Do you have a spare?" Jack asked. As he asked he was stooping down, looking at the crystals before him. Stygium it seemed had a strange Erie glow about it. It almost shone with a purple luminescence. Jack was drawn to it. With a ring the Besk'ad came free and he swung, smashing the crystal free of a rock. There were a few here, all perched silently atop the ridge.

From across the mountains the wind was roaring. He scooped up the crystal, palming it and feeling it weight and power. then he dropped it into a pouch at his front, Besk'ad hanging loosely in his grip.

Matsu drew her saber, which looked suspiciously like the Zeison Sha diskblades Jack had been trained in.

"What kind of sword work is that for?"

"Yes." Matsu had her sabers themselves that she rarely used except when needed and she observed him asking about the blade. "For any number of things, training with different force sects has given me an appreciation for many of the things they can teach. Like disc blades and controlling them for surprise." She held the sabers and spun it in her hand as it was balanced then reeled back with her arm and threw it out. Quickly extending her hand out as the sabers activated with a duel snap hiss and it spun disconnecting into two roating blades while they circled making a saber barrier until they reconnected and came back to her hand.

Jack grinned under his helmet. She was impressive, almost similar to the Sha in many ways. He was burning to learn her secret as to how she assembled such a saber, and even more interested in learning her secrets now. He opnened his palm and spoke in a cocky tone of voice, letting her get the gist.

"Alright then, give me your spare and test me. I work normally with a sword, but let's see which form would be most appropriate for me."

The hand waited, and Jack waited. She was a worthy opponent and it'd been a long time since he'd had duel not strictly hand to hand.

Matsu caught her blades and set them on her hip while she slid the two regular ones from her slip on the robes. The two blades there while she presented the one and held the other in her hands. "They are simple enough and the forms one uses with the saber is determined by several things. Usually your temperment but also how you want to be. THe more defensive minded will drift towards soresu and djem so, the acrobatic towards ateru and the elegant makashi. Some like balance in niman while a few are basic and enjoy the fundamentals of Shii-cho. In the end what you feel most at home with determines your choice of saber form."

[member="Matsu Ike"]

Makashi? Ancient history in the Voss archives had told Jack of Makashi. A rare duelling form usually employed by folks who did a lot Saber vs Saber combat. Jack knew notable users were all over the history books. Count Dooku from long, long ago came immediately to mind. He'd watched the holovids, the man's poise and deflection work had been impressive.

"Tell me about Makashi?"

He already was skilled with a sword by itself, and was eager to learn. His hand clenched around the Lightsaber and it blared to life with a deafening buzz. Jack gave her a few test swings, marvelling at it's weightlessness, before extending his arm straight out and letting the point face Master Ike. A natural guard stance for him.

Makashi? Hmm she was looking at him and well most people didn't look like makashi users... if only because the whole eloquent jedi things was hard to pull off without the right accent and voice. Also you needed a cape. "Makashi it is and the first step is placement and how you move." She stood there ready while shifting the blade to one hand and holding it. "You'll have slightly more control with one hand and by shrinking your body in the beginning. Allowing you more movement to go around and direct their blade. They'll have to come to you." She was moving with her footing around while moving back and forward a little. "Practice and find a grip that is comfortable with the blade. This style benefits more from a curved hilt if you are serious to get the good rotation for it."

[member="Matsu Ike"]

Jacks grip was rather solid, despite not having a curved blade. He'd faced many opponents with knife and blade before, and was ready to rock. He nodded, flexing his fingers and then locking the hilt with a strong grip, the point of the Saber still extended towards Master Ike. she seemed to be moving back, preparing for the attack.

"Well My grip is solid, and I'm ready. Let's do this."
