SPECIAL FEATURES
- The head of the turret can rotate three-hundred-and-sixty degrees around, with the cannons themselves capable of aiming at a downwards angle of thirty degrees and an upwards angle of one-hundred-and-fifty degrees.
- The turbolaser firing mechanism has two modes, standard fire and stutter-fire. Standard fire involves both barrels firing at the same time with greater energy output, which was considered more effective against solitary targets. Stutter-fire involves both barrels firing independently with a lower energy output, which was considered more effective against a group of targets.
- The turbolaser's impervium hull renders it practically indestructible except for highly concentrated and sustained turbolaser fire or anything of similar energy output.
- Kyber crystals built into the firing mechanism greatly increase the destructive output of the turbolaser, allowing it to deal more damage with every attack.
- Ultra Heavy Turbolaser: Supercharged energy is condensed and focused through kyber crystal lenses into a powerful and highly destructive form of energy that is then discharged through the pair of firing barrels mounted on the battery's swiveling head. This energy is significantly stronger than that produced by the standard turbolaser.
- Limited Vertical Range: The turbolaser can't move its head directly up, leaving it vulnerable to attacks from above it.
Designed and constructed shortly after the Sith Empire's invasion of Csilla and the wounding of the Behemoth at the hands of Kaine Australis, the Desolation-class Ultra Heavy Turbolaser Batteries were planned to replace portions of the Behemoth's spinal weapon systems.
As the Behemoth was undergoing repairs at Malsheem, five of these newly created turbolaser batteries were installed along the Behemoth's superstructure.
Four of them were placed before the bridge tower, each one at different elevations for greater range of motion and firing arcs. One was placed behind the bridge tower and towards the engines to better handle the defense of the aft.
